I am one of the IRON MAN fans that is not rolling with it.

NOPE !! I wanted the mandarin from the comics not some drunk actor.

this as a movie is good.
as an IRON MAN movie not good.

Ditto. Hated what they did with the Mandarin character. Hated it.

Other than that and there being way too much comedy in it I enjoyed it. IM3 just doesn't fit in to the series well.

Remind me again I thought the ARC reactor in his chest is what power the suits.

So by him
removing the ARC reactor they just did away with the whole motivation for the second movie the secret element his dads legacy and stuff

This is pretty much a retcon along the same lines as Flint Marko being the one who killed Uncle Ben.

They did it so they could wrap up his story with a beginning, middle and this being the end, but didn't realise or care that it screwed up the entire plot of IM2

This was the first movie in a long time where I wanted to leave halfway through it. Right after the plot twist. Such a stupid decision. I did not roll with it at all. Who's idea was that. I did not even want to watch the final battle. Such a letdown. It was a good plot but not for a Iron Man movie. I now LOVE Iron Man 2 :lol Well **** happens. Onto the next movie. Should have not changed directors. Poor Jon Favreau. Iron Man 3 put Iron Man 1 and 2 to shame...

Seems like RdJ is making all the decisions now, the director being his bosom buddy. Ending seemed like a rip or take on dk:r ending.

If you haven't seen this movie...don't.

Yep, it was a silly plot move... I felt I was watching the Naked Gun for a moment... and not in a good way... :(

Lol, the theme song would have fit right in.

It didn't change the fact that he needed the Paladium replacement at the time. There was nothing retcon'd at all. :lecture

Seems this is playing much better to general audiences than the hard-core comic book crowd:

Which, I thought I was more of the hardcore comic book crowd. :) But even being a HUGE IM fan most of my life and wanting the Mandarin to be awesome... I'm totally fine with what happened here. I really appreciate the choice. I said it before, and I'll say it again...

I think the only reason we got the Mandarin at all is because of the way it was done here. I'd rather they take the Mandarin and do something interesting than totally ignore him forever.

Someone put pn there that Shane Black is Iron Man's Ratner. :lol

But yeah, most people seem to like the movie.

Guys I understand all of your feelings towards this movie. I too expected a kick *** fight between shell head and the mandarin, but ironman is a teat that Disney will milk any way they see fit. Ask the average movie goer who's standing in line for this movie who the mandarin is and chances are they have no idea he is let alone his origin. So this new guy comes along reads a quick history of to y stark on Wikipedia and comes up with this story. I know it's far from faithful to the character at all, but when your dealing with big corporations being true to anything is far from the bottom line.

Don't forget this guy,

Looking back, that was actually weird. What was the point of showing him?

Theatricality and deception are powerful agents

Well reading what RDJ has said in GQ and the Daily Show, the fact he isn't locked in yet, and this movie getting such mixed reviews, he may not want to come back in another stand-alone Iron Man movie. He may only sign a contract to do 2 more Avengers films and a cameo in Guardians and say no to more solo outtings since they are a bigger risk to his overall career. Sure he can make money, but read the GQ article, he says flatout he doesn't want to overstay his welcome or see the movies start to fall flat.

I think that's a wise choice, Iron Man and Hulk really don't need to be in any more stand alone films, and I would say Thor and Cap will probably stop after their next movies. There can only be so many scenarios where the other Avengers are off doing their own thing while some bad guy is trying to take over the world.

On the bright side, suddenly Tony Stark hanging out with Rocket Raccoon doesn't seem so far-fetched for the series.

General public loves it..it will have a gigantic first and second weekends- I predict $320 million US total Box office

I'm never questioning how much this film will make, once the tickets sell it's done no matter how the movie sits with people. It will be watched because it's IM and people will go see it!

If anything I wouldn't be surprised if it sets a brand new opening weekend record.:lecture

It set one record already, first movie to charge 3-D price for a 2-D movie; even our tickets said IM 3-D. :thud:
