You may have still enjoyed it but that was not the same film that we ended up seeing.

I know it's not the first times trailers have done this but they made it look Epic and Dark. Two things IM3 was far from doing (after the first half hour)

You can spin it however you want to make yourself feel better, but that is the film I saw. :lecture

LOL!!! Great Minds my friend. You must have posted this while I was looking for the other trailer. Agree with most of what you say. Accept about the Comedy being good... It was the worst of all the Stark films.

Ha ha ha, wow, great timing. Yeah, I'd take that movie over what we got, any day. Clearly, many others here would as well. I know the word "epic" gets thrown around quite a bit online but that is what I would use to describe that trailer. They said Tony would lose everything and go through a rough time and I believed that when I saw that trailer.

I said before I felt cheated when I saw IM3. I know that it probably sounds like I have a great sense of entitlement but come one, how can one not be disappointed with the end result. That Mandarin didn't use half the lines he used in the trailers. They intentionally chose to deceive us.

I don't have to spin anything my friend. Those films are nothing alike. No goofy ****y childlike jokes or lava men running around hissing and spitting fire. The trailer looks like a serious dark kick butt action film. Not a surreal twilight zone of a film that we got.

I will admit. We got that in the first half hour to 40 min. But then it jumped the shark and never recovered by putting bad idea after bad idea into the film.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree. The trailers sold me exactly what I got when I saw it last weekend.

Can someone please answer why Rhodey/Stark didn't just call the President (like they did the VP) and inform him that IP was hijacked and last seen flying away with a Rhodey imposter onboard!?!

Or at least tell the VP this!

Hello Mr. VP, warn the president that IP is not Rhodey, shoot at first sight, regardless if it's going after the VP or President.

They didn't know the VP was bad when they called him.

:gah: that Mandarin was so fantastic, why did they have to muff out and turn him into a gag.

My wife's sister had a different take then what I have heard anywhere here on this board.

She liked the twist because she said that the film originally made the Mandarin look like the stereotypical Islamic terrorist and then we find out it is really the Americans that are the bad guy.

So basically she liked the twist because it was politically correct.

I think she may have a point in the fact that the film makers may have wimped out by making him not a terrorist (I never really thought of him as Islamic) and went on to stick to the tried and true Hollywood villain - the rich white guy.

I am not going to go all political and state why I hate that reasoning weather it's just her opinion or the actual intent of the filmmakers. I will just say that if that was the case then "How DUMB!!!!!"

I don't care if you call me a Nolan poll squatter, this movie had a lot in common with TDKR (TDKR was done better, IMO). I don't think that was intentional, because they were already in production when TDKR came out, but denying it wouldn't be wise.

Yeah, like how Tony Stark spends half the movie hanging out and talking to some kid. Trailer totally prepared me for that.

C'mon, that's a lame reason, who wants a trailer to show every single thing you'll be experiencing in the movie.

Since when can't movies be dark and light at the same time, you know, like real life is.

^

what he measn is the tone. The trailer gave a certain tone and the movie was at times the total opposite.

Also Iron Patriot in his red, white and blue unlawfully busting into locations in middle eastern countries.

The movie has lots of terrorism & the USA thing going. Just not sure if it's painting the US as the good guys or bad guys :dunno

I'm eagerly awaiting the news story featuring some ******* trying to sue for false advertisement, you know it will happen somewhere :lol

I noticed that baddie # 2 did say "you Americans" when Killian went to first meet Pepper.

Regarding if USA bad or good.

Bad if viewed thru the Mandarin propaganda.

But Killian himself loves the USA because he will be financially benefitting from having the VP in his pocket.

He said he would be controlling supply and demand.

Mandarin propaganda would be the supply of fear and the demand for safety would be his extremis tech.

You're right about a trailer giving away too much (which happens quite often these days) but that kid DID take over half the movie. Overall, though, the trailer was misleading in my opinion. I feel they tried to sell this movie on something it was not.

I'd join a class-action lawsuit against this movie. :lol

The class action will call for all Mandarin posters to be changed to Trevor. :lol

Well, after my 3rd viewing, wife and I enjoyed it even more.

I was much more tolerant of Wolverine mixed with Smaug mixed with Captain America.

I still would've preferred more info leading to Avengers 2.
