Fab, you like TDK over 89'?

I'll agree that the batwing was way cooler then the bat. I still prefer TDKR over 89. Any Nobats movie actually.

89 is just an awesome movie. Very watchable.

totally agree...Lotta guys IMHO who love the 89 film first I bet were young at the time in 89...That's the impression I get from talking to these 25 to 30 year olds now...just like much of our youth love Clone wars/Ep1,2,3 more than the original 3

I don't like that Batman kills

TDKR Batman kills.

All of the Batman movies feature Batman killing atleast one person except the Clooney Batman. What does that say?

I don't Like that the Joker is already crazy before he becomes the Joker

I don't like that Bane isn't the child that escaped da pit.

I don't like that the Joker killed Batman's parents

I don't like that Bruce is involved with the League of Shadows and Talia and coincidentally, big bad Bane.

I don't like that the Joker somehow knows he killed Batman's parents

I don't like that John Blake somehow knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman by looking at his eyes.

I don't like the whole Joker kills people but people come out to see his parade anyways.

I don't like the whole Bane blows up an entire stadium and their Mayor and lets criminals loose but they all are subservient to him.

I don't like it that the Joker is killed

Better death than Bane and Talia

I don't care for the 30's meets the future look Burton gave it.

I don't care for seeing Batman in Spider-Man and the Avengers' city.

I don't like the fact there are basically two Prince Videos

. . . can't argue this. But, "Partyman" and the Joker destroying fine art pieces is better than the obnoxious DESHI DESHI chant every time Bane is on screen.

I don't like that everyone in the film other then Bats and Joker have no character.

Vicki doesn't have character? Knox? Grissom? The secondaries are better than ****ing Foley, Miranda Taters, Catwoman's little girlfriend, etc. etc. :lol

I know it's an older film but the F/X are bad. No excuse for a film made in 1989 to look that bad. SW was almost 25 years before and did not look like some of the effects in this film.

Star Wars was made 12 years before it. :lol

And Batman '89 doesn't have the "benefit" of having a crazy director rereleasing "improved" versions of it every couple of years

If you look at Star Wars as it was in '77, it's very much dated, especially with that grain. Still great though. Age doesn't hurt these older movies, I love film grain, I love haze, etc.

I do like the first 20 min for the most part. Up until "Wait till they get a load of me" After that the film falls apart. Jack becomes too over the top. When he kills Carl Grism he is scary and wild. After that he is just comic relief. Batman also starts killing people after this moment also.

First 45 minutes of TDKR is boring and nonsensical.

Batman doesn't start "killing" until after the third act (where he finds out who killed his parents). Not 20 minutes.

I understand why many don't like TDKR for being a "bad batman" movie but why does Batman 89 get such a pass.

Because it is.

Bruce is frozen in time and as pathetic as ever. He sucks at being Batman (not even learning from his mistakes from the past two films). He's a mess. He quits. He's a liar.

It's more of a disaster flick and a Howard Hughes biopic and a James Bond love letter than it is a Batman movie.

Fab, you like TDK over 89'?

Yup, today I do.

If I'm in a really '89 Batman/nostalgic mood I might prefer it. Same with Batman Begins.

totally agree...Lotta guys IMHO who love the 89 film first I bet were young at the time in 89.

Weren't we all younger then? :lol

Unless you're pushing your 60s or 70s, you were a young man 24 years ago.

And yeah, this is an Iron Man thread. Why are people so quick to bring in Batman and Superman into it? Then see what other people like and pick at those too?

You just give 89' the love it deserves when people make superhero polls? :lol

I would too.

The Dark Knight and Avengers always win the popularity polls, they're the best of the best really. Sort of pointless to vote on something that's gonna win regardless.

Batman 1989 is good stuff too, even if it's old. For being a 24 year old movie, to generate this much excitement and discussion from folks is pretty damn impressive in my opinion.

Do I think it's "teh best"? No, but at times I might if I'm into it. Same goes for all my other favorite films. I have favorites that are hard to choose from not, "OH MY GOD, #1 EPIC MOVIE OF THE WEEK", ya know what I mean.

And this is much more a Shane Black movie than an Iron Man movie.

Right down to the Robert Downey Jr. narration and the Christmas theme.

It's true.

Funny thing, there's actually that robot guy from that tv show that looks suspiciously Iron Man/Robocopesque that RDJ's character tries to get her niece for Christmas.

And this is much more a Shane Black movie than an Iron Man movie.

Which is why it rules.

I feel like, if I start reading these comics, i'll start hating every movie that comes out. :lol

I'll stick with the movies, and judge them on their merits as films.

X-Men Origins isn't terrible because it ruins Deadpool. It's terrible because it's just an awful film from beginning to end.(well, the opening titles are pretty cool) :monkey3

I think Iron Man 3, like TDKR, is definitely going to end up one of those love it/hate it movies with fans, as opposed to an X3 or Spidey 3, which was mostly hated initially and then people stopped caring.

Batman Returns is my favorite Batman film. Its so unlike the rest, but it works on so many levels. Its also before Burton became too 'Burton'... know what I mean?

Yup, that's what I meant when I said "I would too." I'm an underdog guy as well(not saying 89 is an underdog) but I get what you mean.
^ I'm with you there, sorta. I love Returns. Not more then 89, or any other Batman flick. But it's good.
It's a great flick, no doubt. It's just typical of nova. :lol

That's me in the Bold :)

TDKR Batman kills.

Yes I don't like that

I don't like that Bane isn't the child that escaped da pit.

Big screw up! Agreed.

I don't like that Bruce is involved with the League of Shadows and Talia and coincidentally, big bad Bane.

Does not bother me. However I don't like Talia being in the movie at all.

I don't like that John Blake somehow knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman by looking at his eyes.

Very Stupid I agree!

I don't like the whole Bane blows up an entire stadium and their Mayor and lets criminals loose but they all are subservient to him.

Does not bother me at all. They are bad guys.. Why not.

Better death than Bane and Talia

Not complaining how he dies. I don't like it that he does die. Don't like Two Face, Raz, or Bane Dying either. Could care less about Talia dying.

I don't care for seeing Batman in Spider-Man and the Avengers' city.

Um Ok... Is it just TDKR or all the Nolan Batman's??

. . . can't argue this. But, "Partyman" and the Joker destroying fine art pieces is better than the obnoxious DESHI DESHI chant every time Bane is on screen.

Disagree. I like the theme. Sort of Ruined by the fact that he was not the one to crawl out though.

Vicki doesn't have character? Knox? Grissom? The secondaries are better than ****ing Foley, Miranda Taters, Catwoman's little girlfriend, etc. etc. :lol

But Kyle, Blake, Gordon again were all great. Knox was worthless just took up time to get to know Bruce, Grissom was OK but nothing special. Cat's Girlfriend was as good as Bob. Agree that Foley was awful

Star Wars was made 12 years before it. :lol

My Bad math LOL! Either way I stand by it.

And Batman '89 doesn't have the "benefit" of having a crazy director rereleasing "improved" versions of it every couple of years

Do you mean because it was first it did not have something to improve on?? Just wondering because I don't completely understand this statement :)

If you look at Star Wars as it was in '77, it's very much dated, especially with that grain. Still great though. Age doesn't hurt these older movies, I love film grain, I love haze, etc.

I love grain also! Death to DNR!! The film grain / Haze does not effect me in the least with Batman.

Yes SW is dated but many of the effects still hold up and much better then Batman. The effects in Batman always looked like bad effects IMO. Even in 89

First 45 minutes of TDKR is boring and nonsensical.

Batman doesn't start "killing" until after the third act (where he finds out who killed his parents). Not 20 minutes.

I just meant that the first 20 min got it right. The rest of the film.... Not so much.

Because it is.

Bruce is frozen in time and as pathetic as ever. He sucks at being Batman (not even learning from his mistakes from the past two films). He's a mess. He quits. He's a liar.

Yes I always had issues with this. Batman would not quit and become a hermit. I guess that was the way they had to make him weak instead of Bane releasing all of Arkham while Batman had a bad cold :)

You forgot to mention that Batman got back into perfect fighting shape by doing push ups :)

It's more of a disaster flick and a Howard Hughes biopic and a James Bond love letter than it is a Batman movie.

Well you won't get me to argue that TDKR does not have it's issues. I just find that Bats 89 has just as many. Personally I prefer bruce in DKR over bats 89 because (and this isn't fair) I was invested in him over the previous two films. I never cared for Keaton's Bruce Wayne in Batman 89. Not his fault just no character (most of time devoted to Jack /Joker). Who does he Kill in TDK?? Two Face?? I guess that's debatable I think I have argued both sides :). But if you read my post a few posts back you would see I have many of the same issues that you do with TDKR. I just think 89 gets a huge pass with the fans.

I do like Returns though. Except for the last 15 min. It's not perfect but I think I like the Christmas setting. IM3 failed me there also :)
