Love it. Really fresh take, love the new colour balance, the technical split lines, the detailing and the slimline fit. Makes the older suits look old already. Looking forward to seeing more detail!

i like the new suit, looks great, completely different from the other suits, can't wait for the new movie :yess:

I am really REALLLY hoping this is just a 5 minute scene upgraded suitcase armor like the Mark V was and that the main armor will not be nearly all gold...I really don't like the color scheme.....but thats just me

I'm quite fond of the new suit, it's a nice change of pace. You can only get so much of the same red and gold before it gets tiresome. Even if this isn't the main suit, at least we'll know that it will be a little break from the standard formula.

So please explain, batfan, how the same black and grey batsuit never gets tiresome?

:monkey1

It's simple: With Batman, it's not about the suit. They've made it pretty clear with Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Avengers that new suits are something of a gimmick. Batman's suit is the same, noone's denying that. With Iron Man though, it seemed to be getting somewhat formulaic. Some more red here, maybe some extra plates around that area, a few more gold accents, and you have the new and improved "MK ____".

Not really, the fact is that when the Batsuits were upgraded, they were genuine upgrades with functional advancements behind them. I appreciated what Iron Man did, showing the suits various stages, and even what Iron Man 2 did, as the suits advanced due to the plot, but the MK VII? What did it have that made it so necessary? It seemed like its only purpose was to be Iron Man's new suit in The Avengers.

If they are doing Extremis, that means that, once again, there's actually a reason for it, other than to be a MK IV with shoulder pads.

No argument here. The need to sell more toys usually overrides logical storytelling. :monkey2

My point is that Bruce Wayne is DC's version of Tony Stark. Both are billionaire crimefighters with no superpowers.

Both rely on their equipment, tech, and intellects to defeat their foes.

In the books, both are constantly upgrading their tech to give them the advantage in the field.

This new gold suit shows design elements from the Mark 5 (the expanding watchband elements) as well as the Mark 3. The Mark 7 (while arguably not necessary, although the Mark 6 did get wrecked) shows design elements from War Machine (shoulder munition pods and extra thrusters). Stark's always trying to perfect his gear, just as Wayne asks of Lucius.

Nolan's to be credited with keeping his batsuit consistent, but even he shows Wayne upgrading his equipment with new gadgets and gimmicks, such as the big lighted gun seen in promo pics.

I'm betting that the gun is an electromagnetic pulse device, to disable enemy tumblers and vehicles.

In short, they're much more alike than different and should be subject to the same standards. Your mileage may vary. :peace

Batman upgrades his suit with reinforcements in TDKR after his defeat at Bane's hands. You can see the new collar/neck brace in some of the promo shots.
