For those of you wondering about Jabba's coloration here's a photo I found on FlickR of the film prop lit by flash:

Some nice pictures there! The set up looks really nice too. Having the throne in hand, do you think it's good that it's made from polystone, in stead of some kind of plastic? Is it worth the $200?

I'm definitely glad that it's polystone. It feels very substantial and valuable.

Donald Gennaro: Are they heavy?
Tim: Yeah.
Donald Gennaro: Then they're expensive, put 'em back.

Compared to other items that I have paid $200 for (and higher), I think that this is a bargain. It literally took forever to unpack--I kept finding more and more things to unwrap. Everything about it screams quality, and I can't imagine displaying Jabba without it.

Measurements (approx.)
31" left to right (gargoyle to gargoyle)
18" front to back (including the front gargoyles)
18" high (with Jabba)
13" high from top of bowl to bottom of base (without Jabba)

My God.

I had the spot for it all measured out before. I was saying, "Psh, this will fit easily where I want it." I even had a mock set-up to prepare for the space it will take up. All this, and the measurments I had were WRONG!! WRONGWRONGWRONG!!!! I thought, "Why is everyone in awe of how big it's gonna be? It doesn't seem all that huge based on the measurements!" And I was WRONG!! WRONGWRONGWRONG!!!!!!!! Oh, the difference four inches on three sides makes!! This is huge! I have much less space than I thought I would have!!

I SO CANNOT WAIT FOR THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, lighting is huge with the Jabba puppet, I have the LFL Archives book they put out in the U.S. and it has a picture of the puppet and the green and orange are much brighter variations of those colors than the film ever looked, even in original release. However, if you look at the OT DVDs, when they did all the effort to clean up color and things, Jabba often looks in good line, color wise, with SSC's paint, and I'm guessing that was their best source for reference with him, plus by going a little lighter, the options with your home lighting setups is greater, if he was too dark he might look awful in certain lighting.

This makes me really glad I was overly generous when I was building my shelf extension.

I've still got plenty of space, just not as much as I thought. Whereas I thought I'd be able to comfortably fit about ten figures around Jabba, now it's looking more like six will be the limit. So I may have to start taking certain characters out of the set-up when new characters are released. Jedi Luke is in now, but if Tessek gets made, out he goes. C-3PO is in there now, but when Ree Yees comes out, out he goes. Boba Fett is in there now.....nobody moves Fett.

Awaiting my fed-ex delivery today and wondering how easily (after unpacking of the throne for inspection and to drool over it:monkey5 ) will it be to repackage it back in it's original box? I have no where to display his Excellency upon arrival. THX in advance.
:r2d2line

After reading the dimensions and how heavy he is I do think he'll be ok with being on top of this bookshelf but I may move him anyways. THanks for that info!! Much appreciated.

I would love it if someone gave detailed unpacking instructions for the throne.

All I can say is BE CAREFUL. Every piece is individually wrapped and taped. Carefully cut the tape on each item and unrap. All of the small pieces are fitted into slots cut into the foam.

Have fun! Unwrapping all the little pieces felt like Xmas in my house!!

God, I love this thing!:chew

:( me so sad. All this cool stuff coming out (and god knows what from this coming year) and not enough money. Plus I've been (unsuccessfully) trying to pay off my credit cards and overdrafts (we're constantly over our limits, and I really didn't want to be in debt when we got married in 18 months)....... so I think in order to not go further down the hole, so to speak... I think I may have to cancel Jabba, the throne, creatures, Bib, Legolas, Boromir..... and anything else I wanted

waahhhhhh :monkey2

I'll have to see if I can earn more money over the coming months, do more painting maybe or more sculpting.... not sure yet, lol

or... y'know... marry a nice rich person :lol

This is sad Hunky but alas one must do what they have to do. I want to be out of debt too and I also think that it's very important to be debt free. At least you can take pleasure in knowing that new cool stuff is always around the corner. Sure you may have to pass up these things now but when you are better off you can pick up something else that you may love more. Good luck bro.

I also want to add that these material possessions should come second to the things that truly matter in life like healthy relationships.

Well, I bit the bullet and put myself on the waitlist for the Throne last week. Hopefully I'll get one. Considering the number and price, I think I might get lucky. I think Jabba NEEDS to be displayed with it.

I really think that the throne is a vital and necessary part of the whole Jabba experience. I wonder if there will be enough to go around...

Regardless I got mine on order:D
