Did you get it set up yet? I bought a huge kitchen table to put him on. Just want to see what others have done.

Sorry it took so long, turns out things didn't fit how I expected and I've spent literally hours rearranging my office... and I'm still in progress :monkey2

Anyway, here's 2 quick and dirty shot of the table with Jabba... there will be curtains behind him (to one make it look better and protect from the sun), more room around it and I'll be displaying smaller SW (Vintage and New) stuff underneath. Its actually a TV unit so there's actually some shelves on the sides as well (for DVDs) that I'll also be using... so far I dig it and only cost me $40.

There was Leai down his throat for approximately 15 years... I think it may have worn out the mechanism :monkey2

Sorry.

The display is awesome BTW!

God, I can't wait to start sharing pics of my display!!

Also, just to attest to the power of Jabba. I've had one of those long crappy work days, 9a-9p; work at my full-time job and then leading a group afterwards. So, I come home and I'm feeling pretty wiped out and done for the day.

I walk in my office at home, which is in shambles because of finding room for Jabba. And normally a disorganized office is not a good thing for me, but I take one look at that glorious set-up and a big grin spread across my face! This a the kind of figure and environment that just makes ya feel good!

Thank you Jabba!!!

Agreed, This one is KILLER! It almost looks like a still from the film!!! (if only there weren't a computer monitor back there..hehe)

MaulFan, you've made me REALLY anxious for mine now! (which should be here in the next couple of days!) :D

Quick question for those with Jabba in hand... is the left side of his face more sunken in than the right? It kinda looks a little odd to me, so I just wanted to make sure that was normal... and not possibly a molding error.

fabulous pictures maulfan (as usual)

...I've just realised, now that I'm not getting this.. I won't get to build some steps on the right for Bib to stand on *snif* ...i was looking forward to doing that too

I will take pics with my custom Slave Leia when Jabba arrives, and hopefully put to rest the scale issue.

A noble effort Mikey, but I don't think the scale issue will ever die, I think it's a very subjective point and each collector will have their own opinions on it that can't be swayed. I personally think the scale is perfect, when I setup Bib for my "Master.." shots, I felt his height to Jabba was just right for what was seen in the movie, but again, some will agree others will feel it's off, as long as you're happy with it, I know I sure am.

The right and left side of Jabba's face are different, but that's film accurrate. Either for construction purposes or intent for the visual appearance, Jabba's face is significantly asymetrical, there is much more to side of his face at the end of his body then the side facing the tail, great job SSC for nailing that. Also, one of my favorite parts of the sculpt is they have that odd bum in his tail right about where it meets his body, and I know that was in the film and I"m pretty sure it was caused by the little fella who sat in there moving the tip of the tail, another kudos to SSC for including a detail that could easily have been lost to artistic license for the sake of making him look more real, but you went with the puppet :)

Great pics Maulfan!

I was just looking at some reference photos as I was drawing out plans for the side stairs (I'm putting a set on either side of the throne). I've wondered where Bib was standing when he was leaning into Jabba's ear, as it looks like the stairs are much lower than the level of the top of the throne at that point:

I've come to the conclusion that the throne is a bit undersized, and I've figured out how.

Take a look at this:

Now, this badly-lit flash photograph I just snapped:

There's obviously much less room between the railing and the edge of the throne on SSC's version than there was on the actual set; it looks like SSC chopped out that extra hunk of slab in their version, as the gargoyle head is much closer relatively to the edge of the throne on the toy. I'm guessing Bib was standing on this "ledge" that's simply not present on SSC's version.

I guess this means that I'm going to depart a bit from film accuracy and put a platform of equal height to the throne into my stair plans so that Bib can whisper in his boss's ear.

Ye gods I'm OCD about this sort of thing....

Also: I want a Yuzzem creature pack.

That setup looks great, galactiboy, especially for the price. Do you know who makes that table?

Thanks DW! Its from Wal Mart... and I think its one of their own brands. The closest thing to a company name was "+get it together" and it is their 32" TV Stand.

Hope it helps.

If you look carefully enough at the SSC throne against the film images, you'll notice the last crack in the from lines up directly up the middle of the railing in the film and SSC's is slightly closer towards the edge of the slab side. I don't think size is off, just the location of the railing isn't exactly where the film has. As an objective viewer of the piece, if you're going for absolute accurracy, this is a flaw of the piece, though to me the real flaw would be the pins holding it down, were it a loose railing (and as heavy as it is I don't imagine it moving much if it were loose) then collectors would have had the freedom to place it where they wanted. Looking at it from an SSC perspective, I would wager they probably knew of the difference but were looking more to provide more slab area to place objects on and by pushing the railing to the edge as close as you can, you open up the space more since they opted to bolt it down so to speak. As a collector, I think it's a superbly built, sculpted and painted piece and met or exceeded my expectations for it, as did Jabba.

More pictures later tonight and this weekend, lots of fun, quality time to be spend with the Hutt :)
