Ya, when I get home tonight, I'm going to start painting the texture I photographed from the throne onto the wall layer and start building it and working out the shading. If anyone has any real clear shots of the artwork that trims the archway, that'd be helpful, you can see that there is some sort of pattern in black / dark brown along the arch and I want to try and nail that down just right.

If you look carefully enough at the SSC throne against the film images, you'll notice the last crack in the from lines up directly up the middle of the railing in the film and SSC's is slightly closer towards the edge of the slab side. I don't think size is off, just the location of the railing isn't exactly where the film has. As an objective viewer of the piece, if you're going for absolute accurracy, this is a flaw of the piece, though to me the real flaw would be the pins holding it down, were it a loose railing (and as heavy as it is I don't imagine it moving much if it were loose) then collectors would have had the freedom to place it where they wanted. Looking at it from an SSC perspective, I would wager they probably knew of the difference but were looking more to provide more slab area to place objects on and by pushing the railing to the edge as close as you can, you open up the space more since they opted to bolt it down so to speak. As a collector, I think it's a superbly built, sculpted and painted piece and met or exceeded my expectations for it, as did Jabba.

Oh, don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me at all even if it is ever so slightly shrunken; this is just something to take into account when building my stairs for it....

Any way today I was taking a shower when I hear my dogs barking, I knew this had to be the Fed-Ex guy with Jabba's throne. So I had two options, stay in the shower and wait or run out of the shower like A crazied naked person (plus it's very cold here) and get my throne today.


Yeah, that was the most akward time I had to sign for a package. But it was worth it! Jabba looks amazing with this throne. This may be the coolest star wars item ever.

Well, what a good friday this turned out to be!

Gotta get to work, but I couldn't resist getting the big stinker (seriously ) out of the box and snap a few quick ones to share....

Man oh man...everybody's right. This thing is amazing...beautiful (can a slug be beautiful....awwww... why not?). Fantastic quality all around...

It's been advised before in this thread (and thanks for the heads-up, gang) to be careful unpacking the throne, especially the pipe top and unwrapping the gargoyles....very fragile. He does stink of paint and his arms were tacky, and I let sit him awhile as I glazed the wall behind his new home and got the throne set up (throne # 858 for those keepin' track).

Once again, pictures don't do this piece justice (and there have been some damn fine ones posted here too)...I think the paint apps on Jabba and the throne are terrific...alot less garish then I was expecting from some of the pics posted here....I'll be tryin' get some better ones up during the weekend (lookin' forward to Maulfan's handiwork as well...and....where's that doily shot, Josh? )

Sideshow is right...this is indeed the centerpiece of everyone's Sideshow 1:6 figure collection....I haven't had this much fun with a collectible (alright, toy) since....1983! Thanks, Sideshow!

First off, glad to see you finally got your hands on him Josh, and as always, good job contributing to the images, same for your JediBear.

I came up with my video concept today at work cuz I got bored and my mind wandered. I'm going to start out with opening logos and a low grade version of the title crawl with back story about the Jabba figure with 20th Century Fox fanfare and SW Main Title music, then work into a series of progressing photoshopped film stills of the big guy with various musical pieces from his scenes as well as dialogue/audio where it fits.

Two smaller doilies and you still couldn't hope to contain all the awesome that is Jabba! Awesome pictures everybody! Not that I'm not insanely jealous, still waiting for a shipping notice, though.

Well Friday came and went and no Jabba or Throne today. Did anyone else on the East coast that was expecting him today get theirs? I keep remembering that video that Batty posted with the Fed-Ex trailer jackknifing.

I'm in MA and mine actually got up here Wednesday when the scheduled delivery was Thursday, not sure what's going on with yours, hope it all works out for you.
