Wow...I get home from work and more cool pictures! From the infamous doily to some cool angles of him from metaphorge (great mood lighting BTW & I love the shot of the lil' slug stealin' the dregs of that ****tail!)...just keep the great pics coming! And thanks everybody for the compliments on my shots...half the fun of these figures is snappin' shots & showin' other freaks what fun the figure is....

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the shots, I've certainly been enjoying yours as well.

For most of these shots I've only used the lighting I've rigged up for Jabba's shelf (I have one spotlight slighly in front of the shelf and one almost directly over Jabba inside the shelf). A few shots add an additional spot from a bit below him.

I really like this shot as well:

Congratzz on your 1000th post!

Nice pictures everyone. Can't wait to get my Jabba combo. What makes me a little sad though is that I don't have the room to display it, so Jabba and the (much to expensive) throne will stay in the box.

I'm afraid the logic of keeping the throne in it's box because you don't have room to display it is lost on me. The box is like 3X the sixe of the throne!

Clear off the nicknacks on your dresser/TV/bookshelf and get to displayin', people!!

Actually, frighteningly, the box is not much bigger than the throne slab. I'd say at most, maybe 8 inches on every side of the slab and thickness, it's pretty much as thick as the throne with the railing, if that's of any use to anyone.

I have to say, seeing some very impressive shots from everyone, sorry I haven't brought my A Game to the group yet, been a tiring week, I actually fell asleep while checking my Jabba out last night, with him in my hands, if that tells ya anything, but I'll be back in full swing this weekend, lots of fun to be had with the big guy.

jedibear, thanks for the McQuarrie image, I found one film image of the glyphs and they appear to be just a random series of shapes so between fading effect and randomness, I think I should be able to mimic them without much trouble.

I think yuo should put a message up there in Aurabesh.

"Sideshow's Big Fackin' Jabba the Hutt"

or

"MaulFan's Background of Love"

or

"Crush you enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women."

More great pics JB!!

Josh2 I hope you guys enjoy it. Gonna be fun reviewing this one.

Lil speechless Josh? Your comments seem shorter than normal ;)

:lol I was tired yesterday honestly. Been a crazy week for me as well. Plus I think I was somewhat in shock of how big and cool Jabba was.

Jabba is really amazing. For a giant slug the detail is truly some of the coolest I've ever seen. The tatoo and cut are very nicely done and the eyes are so life like. The paint on it is just great! Really captures what we saw on the screen for sure.

Kicka$$ shots everyone! wow, are we having fun or what? Actually I ordered the reg jabba (still waiting for my dealer to ship), the goblet was only used in the sail barge scene so it wasn't that important to me...

btw, saw ROTJ on HBO last night and noticed there are definitely 2 sets of 3 steps on the right (screen) side of the throne...

A screen shot should confirm this...

jedibear, your pictures are just too awesome that words cannot describe them!! I totally agree with the poster above that I also thought it was a movie still.
I finally get Jabba today through FedEx, but I won't be able to see him until the end of May since that's when I am finally done with school and get to go home! So I am happy and sad all at once, hahah!

More in progress, it's coming along:

...and this one makes him look dark n' slimy n' evil....a real gangsta hutt...

As Wor-Gar and others have demonstrated earlier in the thread...the sculpt & detail on this piece is just fantastic...different lighting can just change the expressive features so much...from jovial to evil with just a play on light.

And the eyes....very nicely done. They really help the figure come alive in a way photos just can't capture...the bar is once again raised like Jabba's toasting glass as the artists at Sideshow did with Maul...any higher folks and you're gonna need those infamous "monkey arms" to reach it :monkey5 ...

Enjoy folks....I sure am!
how are u guys getting Jabba to hold the toastig glass in his right hand? mine has no thumb. are ya gluing it?

Ok I just got back from the art store. I am thinking of using styrofoam for the walls as discussed earlier. And some sort of wood for the steps. Does anyone have any idea based on Maul's diagram about what sizes to scale everything should be?

I think cut styro is the way to go for the steps but do run the risk of damage of course, just mentioning because set designers regularly use it as well. You could probably use the packing materials from the throne box, no?

Maybe this will help with scaling?

I'm pretty sure I'm going with wood for the steps, 'cos I'm not sure how stable figures standing on styrofoam would end up being.

Will the foam hold the figures you think?

That styro throne packing material looks pretty tough BM, why not test it with some figs... I think you have enough there to do it... just cut a few sections and paint to match and you're good to go... of course you will also be sacrificing it for your throne display.

They sell the stuff at the art store. I wish there was no snow out. I would buy some in a second. I don't want to buy it though and have no where to at least do a test run of the paint as well.
