That's not Josh's image it's mine and I'd prefer no one touch my artwork, if someone want's to customize it for their own use or have me do something for them that is fine but posting anywhere, I want my work to stay my work.
You should take that stick out of your butt, it must be uncomfortable.

You seriously need to get off your high-horse! You're not the only one with great pictures of Jabba, though in your mind you seem to be.

I'm not on a f&%* high horse!

All I did was ask someone not to tamper with my images and to just consult me if someone wants something, I put work and time into the stuff I do, it's my artwork, I don't want people altering it on their own and throwing it out in the world...if an artist isn't entitled to control over his work what's the point...

Things don't work this way on the internet! You should know that....

Edit: Maybe if you had expressed your conern in a more friendly manner, then none would've taken any offense to it. ;)

I guess I'll chime in on this issue I can see where both sides are coming from.

Maulfan, if you don't want other forumites to modify your work, that's cool.

BUT you need to say that up front and in a gentler manner. JediBear was just so impressed with the picture that he wanted to praise it by adding his own touch. It seems as though you didn't get that impression because your statement sounded like it was aimed at someone who committed copyright infringement.

I can understand where you're coming from though. I've had to deal with it myself. There's still a picture floating around of Luke that I shot months ago in a very awkward saber deflection pose, and people took that image without my permission and regularly use it to make fun of the figure. It's even been saved to other Photobucket accounts!!

So I now watermark all Photoshop work that I post on the Net so it won't happen so easily again. I suggest you do the same. It might not look so pretty, but then people won't be able to alter it.

Please try not to burn all your bridges over this relatively trivial and insignificant matter. Like carbo-fation said, you're not the only Photoshop artist on these boards, so threatening to pack up and leave over something so small isn't going to hurt this board and seems a tad immature.

Now, to JediBear and my other fellow Freaks, try to understand that MaulFan spends quite a bit of time into making these images and trying to fill requests. It's understandable that he might be a little miffed. Yeah, I think he overreacted, but try not to continue the flaming.

I suggest we all adopt a courtesy policy on these boards with regards to posted pictures (especially Photoshop work).

1) If you don't want people tinkering with your pics w/o permission, then either state that in the post and/or watermark the pics. That will signal other users to ask permission via PM before posting an alteration.

2) If there's no disclaimer and/or watermark, then it's fair game. Don't get miffed if someone tinkers with it...especially if they are willing to give credit where credit's due.

I don't consider myself the only photoshopper in any forum, nor would I say how good I am or am not. My initial request was simply because it takes all of 2 seconds to make a suggest or request and I'm happy to oblige, as many have seen, but I'm still in control. My reaction was immature and overheated, I just took offense that some felt I was a jerk for trying to be a respected artist because what I do doesn't happen in a flash and I don't care if people love, hate, loathe or are disgusted by the works I do, but at the end of it all, it's just nice when you get respect for doing what you've done.

Jedi-bear never disrespected you; on the contrary, he praised your work!!! Next time express your concerns in a more friendly manner and let everyone know that your holy work should never be used.

Maulfan, haven't you taken images from the Star Wars films and manipulated them on many occasions? How is that any different than what jedibear did?

I completely agree with you there. Believe me, I was immensely irritated by the misuse of my Luke picture that I referred to in my earlier post. But I realized that the Internet is a much more open place than we all would like to think, and that's why I've taken precautions via watermarking.

I strongly suggest that you begin watermarking your pics if you don't want them altered. After a few days or a week, these posts are going to be buried in the depths of this thread, and very few will remember your wishes. So either you'll have to keep posting that you don't want them altered or you'll have to make others unable to do so with a watermark.

Or you can just go with the flow and let others do these modifications. That is still an option, if you want to take it. :)

I'm also happy to see that you can step back and see this. I think that will help put out the fires on those burning bridges.

Please feel free to continue posting your work if you'd like, but I hope you take my advice into serious consideration. It will prevent these incidents from recurring.

And if we could let comments like that on this matter cool down, I think that would really help too. Let's not fan the embers here... :)

It's no different. In fact, that's a more dangerous and tricky road for us Photoshoppers because it teeters more on copyright infringment.

Hey, guys, did I just turn into Josh (jlcmsu) with my multiple quoting?!?!?!? LOL :)

I didn't say JediBear how dare you or something, all I was trying to say is anyone is more than welcome to say hey MaulFan, love such and such image, but I was thinking, what if you did this...and that.... that could be cool, and people have contacted me in that manner before, and I have responded positively to it, I'm just saying, if someone wants to do something involving my work, get my involved with it, I'm always up for dicussion and collaboration.
