The problem is communication was so bad with the shipping of the JL WW, that I can't trust them. Part of it's no doubt the language barrier. Daniel must be the only there fluent in English.
If I'd known in advance the aggravation I was going to go through with WW, I wouldn't have ordered direct.

I'll email them this week and see if we can work something out, but I'm not too optimistic. Last thing I want to do is pay it off and then have them "mistakenly" ship it out anyway, which I can absolutely see happening and having them chalk up to miscommunication.

Yup, I completely understand. I was just suggesting to not jump the gun and preemptively cancel based on a September shipping rumor. Might as well wait until you get the invoice and then begin the conversation. If you do it too early they may forget by the time it actually ships unless they have a way to put a note in their system.

I get what you mean though. I had a heck of a time getting my JL Superman with the customs process and JND threatening to have it shipped back to them. I wish I hadn't already had PO'd the Reeve set directly with JND after all that mess. The Reeve set will be the last direct order I have with them unless I get a 1/6 figure that's under the $1600 customs threshold. Most likely, any future JND piece will be with Spec or Comic Concepts.

I'll need to be cancelling my duo set then. I leave for a month and a half on the road for work around the 20th and no one will be here to take delivery or to vet it if it was delivered.
I wouldn't cancel based on a rumor.

If you want, feel free to send it my way, I'll take good care of it, although I can't guarantee I'll be sending it back lol

You know the threshold is actually $800, not $1600. That doesn't mean it's always applied and charged as I've bought watches shipped abroad for a few thousand and not paid import duties on some of them.

Interesting 🤔 when I looked it up, specifically for this, it said $1600 b/c it’s from an IP.

I’ve also bought things for over $800 overseas and was never charged import tax. Even though the general rule appears to be $800, it’s sort of blurred a bit it seems with exceptions.

Like the other collector said, no guarantee it ships on time.

IIRC, Fed Ex allows a vacation hold but I think it’s only good for 14 days of storage.

Also, you can probably contact JND (or whatever distributor you bought from) to delay your shipment until you get back - I do this with the shop I mainly buy 1/6 figures from whenever I’m out of town.

I'm assuming that's for the duo? I got the single and shipping is $333(usd) for me which is still a bit steep. Hopefully JND will show an unboxing video soon.

On a side note, anyone know if U.S. customers need to do anything with FedEx. I remember hearing about delivery issues because customers needed to complete some kind of form with FedEx or something like that. If that's the case, I would want to get that done with asap to avoid delivery issues when this statue ships. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Correct, $441 shipping is for the duo. But I believe we have to pay customs tax on top of that later.

As for the form (on my JL WW platinum shipment) someone from FedEx will email you directly about filling out a DocuSign CBP Form 5106 electronically with your SS#.

I thought it was spam at first because a specific person from Fed Ex will email you (in my case Liz Dreher - Customs Trade Specialist from Springfield, MO) - it won’t be a generic Fed Ex customer service automated email.

I believe Fed Ex will contact you after JND ships the statue. Good thing I did not ignore/trash the email - if you do not fill out the form, they can only hold the package for week before sending it back to JND.

Gotcha. Thanks for that info. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the email from FedEx.

All my fingers are crossed for an amazing final production piece!

Yea, got my invoice as well. Haven't looked at it yet. Sort of afraid :lol this is an expensive month for me with this and quarterly taxes due :thud: I have the money, thankfully, just don't like spending so much at one time. Will probably wait until the last minute like I did with JL superman. They didn't end up shipping him until about a month after the invoice was paid anyway so I don't really feel the rush to do so.

Am I understanding that correctly? In the US you can buy a statue and because it's for personal enjoyment and under 2.5k you don't need to pay any import duty or tax on it?? Just the shipping cost?

In the UK we have to pay %20 tax and VAT, WW JL cost almost £500 for income duty and tax along with the over £200 or so for shipping!

No, us in the US still have to pay import tax on these statues if buying direct from JND since they’re overseas.

But, if I were to buy from Spec or Comic Concepts, I wouldn’t have to as that’s already taken care of by the retailer since we’re both in the US.

I don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of customs process as I rarely have to deal with it since I don’t usually buy stuff that passes the thresholds. But when it comes to buying imported goods from a US based retailer, we don’t have to pay those taxes. Though, some retailers may bake it into the cost.

Ah I see, same as here then. Yeah Import and taxes goes over my head to be honest. Although I think I read you had to sort your documents our to receive Superman?

Shipping from JND to the UK I've never had to arrange anything like that, only time I've had something like it is JND arranging for a pickup with FedEX for repair, in which case I just had to print the appropriate forms to attach to the returns package.

I have no skin in the game here as I won't be ordering this Reeve Superman, but if I were I can honestly say that I would probably be happy with either sculpt they've used on the prototype. I think both of them are Reeve in a lot of ways and also a bit of a miss in few ways. But overall, I think it's by far the best representation of a licensed Reeve portrait I've ever seen. Even some of the custom sculpts haven't been this good looking overall. A lot of times I find the custom stuff to come across as too idealized. Too perfect, which takes out the humanity too much.

I think if you combine that with the fact that this will 100% look better in person, in 3 dimensional real life, then you really can't go wrong. Besides, I think the lighting they've used in both photo sets are not really capturing how this looks in person and potentially highlighting some of the flaws more.

Granted, I'm also one who is on the fence with the Indiana Jones sculpt as I think it needs some tweaks around the eyes/brows before it's 100% Harrison Ford, but I definitely see the potential there and hope for an actual tweak before I get so tempted that I can't wait any longer and order it. I'm already struggling not to :).

Anyway, good luck to those who get this and I can't wait to see in hand photos soon.
Yea, I'm gonna go ahead and amend this because I haven't stopped thinking about adding this to the collection now :rolleyes2. I was able to make more shelf space from my mancave redesign than I had originally anticipated, so there's a real possibility I decide to add Reeve here. I've been looking for a long time to add the ultimate Reeve, and while I stopped collecting movie superhero characters a while back, he is definitely one that would be worthy of a 1/3 scale piece. In fact, there aren't many human movie characters that I would want in 1/3 to begin with, so the list for him to contend with is very short.

I guess it all depends on the reveal of the production portrait for me as the rest of it is about as perfect you can get. I do think it will look great though so I'm already on the verge of ordering...

I think (though I could be wrong) that you guys in the UK sort of have a different process maybe since you tend to have to pay import tax on pretty much everything you buy outside of the country. Since we don’t, we have to fill out custom paper work with the shipper (in this case, FedEx) in order for it to clear customs and receive the item. I assume it’s mostly to verify we are a citizen since it's called an Importer Identity form. This is all new to me so I could be wrong, but it's what I gather from the first experience.

Gipetto0812, do you know if you'll have to deal with that form again with your CR/CK duo order ships or are you in the clear since you already filed that form with your HC Superman shipment? I'd like to try and proactively file this form on my own just to get it out of the way and not have to worry about it once my CR Superman statue ships but I don't know if it'll be easier or better just to wait til FedEx reaches out to me🤔

From what I researched I believe you have to fill it out each time for each item, but it would be nice if they just kept that info on file for future use

It might be best to just wait as the shipping info is submitted from JND to FedEx and then they (FedEx) contact you with the DocuSign online document.

Filling out the document it is pretty easy and straight forward, it's just the waiting for the customs agent to release the package that is anxiety inducing (at least for me); and, in the mean time, due to the info I guess not crossing back to JND, JND will send emails stating that you haven't filled out the form yet and if you don't, it will be shipped back to them with you having to pay for the shipping back to them due to failure to fill out the document. I even emailed JND telling them that I have filled out the form and just waiting on FedEx to review/release it; yet, I kept getting the same email from JND at least 3 times until I finally got a hold of the agent for my statue (she was VERY nice), told her that it was just a Superman statue from the movie justice league and she cleared it. Actually getting a hold of her on the phone took some time though with multiple calls.

So, what I will do differently this time is after I fill out the document, I will call to get the info of the customs agent handling my case so I can hopefully get a hold of them fairly quickly to get it all cleared over the phone in a day or two rather than just sitting and waiting like I did for Cavill Sups hoping that it would all sort itself out :lol I just didn't know any better before.

I see what you mean. I just wanted to try and get ahead of the curve with the shipping headache that I know will come up but, I agree, it sounds like it might be easier just to let JND and FedEx do all the legwork. Thanks for explanation. Much appreciated
