Just got back from my second screening. Took my girlfriend, who was not very excited to see John Carter, and she loved it! Mission accomplished. Now I just have to convince almost everyone else I know to go and watch it.

:hi5:

Great news smitty. I think positive word of mouth is about the only thing that can save the film now unfortunately. It only pulled in a little over $30 million in the US.

It's doing better overseas at $70 million so their is a ray of hope I guess. I hope we get a sequel but it's going to be an up hill battle.

Well it cost $250 million to make and only brought in $30.6 million on opening weekend. Got beaten by the Lorax that came out last week. It doesn't sound too good, unfortunately. I'll probably see it next weekend.

I really didn't enjoy this film. Against my better judgement I went to see it and was completely bored.

I can't believe this was directed by Andrew Stanton.

I found the landscape (Mars) completely uninspiring and lacked any real imagination.

I had no emotional attachment with JC and his cause.

____ING FINALLY! Jesus. I was starting to feel alone here.

But I think I get why some people love this movie. They know the material. They already know the characters. Their names, their struggles...ect.

I dunno. I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't get into the story, couldn't get into the characters, I didn't enjoy the cinematography. Or the action. It just didn't work. Like I said, it's not in any way a bad movie. I just didn't like it.

Maybe the sequel would. I don't know.

I liked the film. Doubt it will get a sequel which sucks. But I'll def pick it up on Blu Ray once it comes out.

A buy on Blu for sure. The movie was beautiful, characters easy to get into, a story easy to get into, and a overall pace that was too quick I thought (I.E. I wanted more in this movie). Maybe we'll get a EE version when it hits Blu and that will push sales so we get a second film.

Its funny that one person says the characters are so easy to get into everything looks so nice then the next person is like i cant get into the characters the scenery is so boring lol. The attractions did nothing to make me want to go see it, but it's still on my radar. I might go see it. But boy this thing bombed pretty hard.

See it for yourself. I dunno.

It's not a horrible piece of ____. In anyway. I just couldn't get into it.

:lecture I just got home and we really liked it. Can't wait for another movie if they decide to do it.

So Today i took my dad to see it on my 2nd showing, and it holds up well! i enjoyed it so much and you notice so much more! The characters, the mythology, the pacing, God i love this movie!

When it ended i looked over at my dad and sad " Well did ya like it!?" He looked at me, teary eyed and said " It went from good, to great" he got very emotional at the end, and this is one of those movies that could stand alone, it leaves you wanting so much more but satified also. I love John Carter, the Princess is sooo hottt!!!!

30 mill in the opening weekend isnt that bad, shure its under expectations but good word of mouth could help the 2nd weekend, plus its doing well oversees, and all the fans are gonna get this on blu ray, i bet it does well.

I WANT JOHN CARTER COLLECTABLES!! Why didnt disney do figures or anything?

They clearly felt it was going to be a flop. They really didn't do anything to help this to better than it did opening weekend. Poor promos and no merch. :cuckoo:

Yeah i mean this is clearly a big production and somthing i think Disney should embrace, its a shame there was no toys or other high end collectables.

Soundtrack is really good tho! Uplifting! :clap

Haha no certainly not alone. Yes I think I know why people might like it also.

Like you I just couldn't get into it. At no point during the movie did I get into it and feel connected to the characters or the story.

I found the dialogue like Dino said unbearable and clumbsy. Yes the action just didn't work for me either.

I was just shocked at the lack of imagination and lack of creativity considering what Andre Stanton is obviously capable of.

Of course in many ways this mirrors Avatar and yet is so many ways doesn't even compare.

Definitely buying this movie on blu! :lecture

I'm hoping for a Director's cut EE myself. :D

Thats the problem. Ppl are comparing this to Avatar. Which was a silly story but everyone loves cus it was all blues and greens and looked good. John Carter looked great for me personally.going to see it again in IMAX cus the 2D looked so good.

In the end I loved this movie, gives me the same feeling I get as when I first watched New Hope.

the Princess is sooo hottt
Indeed she is.

Walking out I overheard a couple people saying this. Not hardly a fair comparison IMO. I definitely enjoyed this one more than I did Avatar, and I really liked Avatar (just not one of the nut job fans).
