It's funny but if that happened to a Marvel movie there would be outrage. :lecture

Nah, I'd just correct it if it was Marvel. ;) But that is indeed why I gave this one a proper title, don't want to be unfair to poor DC fans, they've suffered enough abuse at the hands of the actual movies already.

Re: Batman and His Happy More Upbeat Superfriends (Nov 17th, 2017)

Nice thread title change. Batman creates a new suit for the flash? Isn't Barry like a smart CSI guy?

Flash is one of those characters that's like **** YOU! AND **** YOU! AND **** EVERYTHING! I DO WHATEVER THE **** I WAAAAAAAAAAAANT! I'M THE MOTHER****ING FLAAAAAAAAAAASH *****! Seriously, the guys takes a huge-ass dump on logic. His feats are off the ****ing charts. He sits right next to Doom, Strange, Richards, JonCon and the like, meaning characters who defy all logic and have no boundaries. In general, yeah, the Flash's mind works so fast, that he'd be able to school Batman any day of the week. but, as usual, he's BATMAAAAAN, so, yeah. And bear in mind, Batman's in my Top 10 characters, and Flash doesn't even break the Top 25.

I just hope it's not an overly light tone. One of the things I liked most about B vs S is that it was more serious in nature. That doesn't mean I don't want a few laughs but I really don't want this to be a Marvel styled film. My biggest reservation about B vs S was the casting of Luthor. Even though I liked B vs S overall, I did think Luthor was miscast and didn't care for how he was portrayed in the movie. I now have the same fears with the casting of Flash. Physically, I think he's all wrong for the role and I'm really worried about his costume. From the way it's been described, it looks nothing like his costume in the comics. He may be funny and provide comic relief for the movie but Barry is a scientist. He is a smart character in general. Who knows what his origin will be in the movie universe and how closely Zack will follow the source material for that character. I just passed off Luthor as a generic villain because he basically ended up being the son of the Luthor we all know. Barry is a whole other matter. I don't want to see a long haired doofus hipster playing Barry but it starting to look like that's what we're going to get. Unless we see glimpses of Barry's character from the comics, I'm very worried that this character may be a shell of what we know. Regardless of my reservations with Flash, I do hope the movie is good.

I'm reading it as WB has contained Snyder to one last movie, contracts and lawyers saved him JL. :lol
Yep. But Deborah's not wrong. Her plan all along was to do whatever it took to keep her and her husband employed.

Google gave me this silly looking dude for Flying Fox. Does Batman ride him?

I know a Russian woman here, she is about 6 feet tall, and her sister played on the Russian national basketball team. Her dad came over a few years back, and is the largest man I think I've ever seen. He did uproot a small tree in her front yard by hand.

I just hope it's not an overly light tone. One of the things I liked most about B vs S is that it was more serious in nature.
Well love it or hate it, dour and grim is Snyder's thing. I am very curious to see how he would handle "light and fun," but. . .imagine it could go very badly :lol Remember, his idea of fun was the Jimmy Olson cameo.

Have DC Films and Zack Snyder learned from BvS? Devin went to London to find out.

Intro: In Which I Get Invited To The Set Of Justice League And This Upsets Certain Elements Of The Reddit Community

When Reddit’s “DC Cinematic” subgroup figured out I was headed to London to visit the set of Justice League its lunatic fringe just about filled their diapers in outrage. How dare Devin Faraci, the avatar of hatred for the DC Extended Universe, be invited to see this hotly awaited film while it was in production?

As often happens on that subreddit, weird theories popped up. Maybe Zack Snyder had invited me to the set in order to exact his revenge. Maybe this was all a set-up to get me humiliated or beaten. Some redditors happily imagined Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill chewing me out for my many post-Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice thinkpieces. One guy wrote an elaborate fan fiction wherein I was tied to a chair and tortured with a razor.

They were right, I was invited to the set because I was a hater. But the mission wasn’t to humiliate me or to take me down a notch. It was to convert me. It was to show me that things were going to be different with Justice League. Hell, if I had to sum this entire set visit up in one quote it would come from producer Debbie Snyder, talking about the lessons she and Zack learned from critical and audience reactions to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

"We learned that people don't like seeing their heroes deconstructed.”

Let's roll it back a week. Bebe Lerner, Zack Snyder's publicist, got in touch with me. I've known Bebe a long time, so this wasn't that unusual. What was unusual was the offer she had. Bebe told me that Zack and everybody at DC Films had been reading all the stuff I wrote about BvS (as I mentioned, I was not fond of that film) and that Zack wanted to invite me to the set of Justice League so that he could show off how the crew was righting the ship. They heard the criticisms, was what I understood, and they wanted me to see how they were reacting to them. What’s more, the embargo would be short - I could have this piece up almost immediately. They clearly wanted to get the conversation about Justice League changed ASAP.

So off I went to Old Blighty, where I would interview Ben Affleck while he was in the Bat costume and find that he was really funny, really smart and really into making sure we know that Batman isn't killing people anymore.

Honestly, in a perfect world, they'd use the whole Batman "being inspired by Superman's heroism" thing as a way to get the blue and grey with the yellow oval on-screen.

What a class act by Snyder.

"We learned that people don't like seeing their heroes deconstructed." aka. don't make people think.

Oh heavens no XD

That's one of the things I loved about BvS, and it's also one of the things that I've been saying since Man of Steel. They're deconstructing the heroes in order to build a stronger foundation.

In a perfect world they'd make two good Superman films before killin' him off in a BvsS one.

Affleck on JL:

This is a step in evolution in that to bring together all of these characters who have had their origins.

Affleck on Batman movie:

I think they have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my, my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out. [laughs]

I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say. That’s something that would have to pass a very high bar for me. It’s not just like, “Yeah, that might be fun, let’s go try this out.”

I probably use hyperbole a bit too much for my own good. lol
But isn't it sad that we can write better superhero films than these Hollypoop folks?
Or maybe the problem is in producers...

I really don't understand why it's so hard to get good blockbusters nowadays.
