I don't know if there is anyway to "fix" the DCEU. The problem is WB decided to do a knee jerk reaction to the critic's reviews of BvS and went for a much lighter tone in this movie. But the problem for WB is half of the fan base, maybe even more going by comments I've seen all over online, liked the darker/more serious tone the DCEU was taking. Now if they go lighter they will piss off those fans but if they don't go lighter they will piss off the rest of them. They're pretty much screwed no matter what they do. I guess if they are going lighter they need to go back and do solo films and take the time to make sure they are making them as good as possible and get the fans on board with those then worry about a JL sequel way down the road.

WW was a lighter tone because its her character and everyone was on board with that. You can make the DCEU a lighter tone and have the fans on board we just need a good story with a decent villain (like Zod). By the way i am not implying the movie be an all out comedy like Marvel and have rainbows and bright colors everywhere with jokes even during destruction of homes worlds for example (like asgard in Thor).

DCEU should bring out all the solo films when a new writer get the fans and critics on board then bring out an epic JL2 with the injustice league as villains then JL3 and JL4 with Darskeid.

I had all sorts of issues with the film when I first saw it.. Most of it was that it just did not feel like a SW movie.

I was not sad nor did I care that Han was killed.. One.. I know it would happen.. Ford has wanted that forever.. No way was he coming back for two more films.. The way he died was stupid and lacked was disrespectful to the character.. Not a proper send off.

And as I said before.. It felt more like Harrison Ford was killed not Han Solo.

It;s not a complete failure of a film but like I have said before.. I can at least find some interesting action and ideas in the PT and thought TFA is a better made film I don;t find the action to be any good, the planets are all uninteresting, and the ideas are non existent.

Oh and then there is her. I kid you not.. I hate her more then Jar Jar.

This is a movie that works best when you go in with this approach. But it still feels undercooked. Like they weren't fully sure what approach they wanted going in, and by the time they committed the team in place just didn't have the wherewithal to pull it off.

I agree with this.. But I think so much of that is the fact he is CGI and it just really adds to how boring the character was.

I would say the Evil Elves in Thor 2 were pretty bad but played by real actors and thus feel more fleshed out (pun intended)

Those goofy wizards in Dr. Strange were pretty boring.. Were they after a book? I don;t recall.. But they were no better then Steppenwolf but were real actors

GotG.. Everyone loves that guy but really he was just another angry villain who wanted world domination.

Hela was sexy... It really ended there. They gave her a bit more character I guess by telling Jokes but you make her CGI or even a man and that character would have sucked also

Zod was about as one dimensional as you get.. Imagine same character, same lines but all CGI.. Blah..

Now this is not to say that a CGI villain can't work. I hated Ultron (due to all the jokes) but he was much more fleshed out then Steppenwolf and even more fleshed out then many of the characters I mentioned above.


I guess my point is.. Had they had the character played by a real actor who could actually emote and be easier to identify with would have helped a lot.

He still would have been just an angry villain who wanted to take over the world but he would have been easier to enjoy.


But yeah.. He sucked.
