"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" is my favorite sci-fi novel and to me BR (Final Cut) and BR 2049 both perfectly bring aspects of the novel to the big screen but in different ways. As such it's hard for me to pick a favorite apart from whichever one I'm watching at the time. That's after two viewings of 2049 though. It'll probably take a few more viewings to finally decide how it measures up to the original.

Hmmmmm Never read the book but that is cool that ideas are explored in both films from the same novel.

I can see how the film's length could turn some people off but I love that this film was allowed to breathe.

I can't remember why I thought it dragged.. I will have a better idea when I watch it again. I think it was when Deckard joined the film.

It just seemed to slow down to a crawl at this point and I just liked so much of the rest of the film more.

I also was not in love with the thought of a Cult of Replicants.. Just got a little too weird for me.. I don;t remember why.. Is it because they were all in black and I started to get a Matrix Vibe?? :lol

Yes, arguably the most visually stunning film of the decade (at the very least.)

I would still give that to the LotR films.

I might even say that I liked the visuals in Tron Legacy more.. :eek

The original had the rain but this one had the dust/snow and awesome Las Vegas. :D

Got nothing on the rain though... This film's rain and snow won't effect future film makers like the Blade Runner rain did (per the documentary)

I think you will. BR 2049 is impossible to fully digest after just one viewing.

100% agree with this.. I really think I will... I was not in love with the original until repeat viewings.. Of course I saw it when I was very young and it was the theatrical cut..

WAS THIS MOVIE REAL?
were these people serious?

how the hell is this a real thing??????????

HOW WAS THIS A REAL PRODUCT MADE BY A COMPANY??

:lol well that sums it up pretty well. A friend invited me to watch it, I think I'll pass.

JL made me appreciate the Star Wars Holiday Special.

:lol :lol :lol

Ok Wor-Gar asked so...

You just know that the kryptonian soup pool would’ve not been kind to Superman.

I mean was it kind to Zod when creating Doomsday?

It was not.

Hence why Superman’s rebirth should’ve looked more like this...

Or this if you prefer lol

Thinking about this again... Blade Runner was not Very deep and neither was this sequel.. But Blade Runner did it in 44 min less time.

This film took a lot of time to breath.. As cute as the hologram girlfriend was.. They probably could have reduced her screen time a bit and then maybe some of the Deckard stuff.. I don;t know I really need to watch it again.. Perhaps I will will have no issue with the run time.

best video

This guy is really good IMO. WB should hire him as a consultant. Liked that he pointed out that WB management ultimately is to blame.

As for DC, from articles I read this summer - hiring "good directors" e.g. known directors is costly and they have tight schedules. So more and more "indie" directors are being hired by studios as it's cheaper.

For Marvel that's been working, as apparently directors do a pitch for Marvel - one report said at least 10 directors were looked at for Ragnarok - and Marvel also backed up Taika Waititi w. a whole bunch of experienced crew. For the Mummy, apparently having a director not used to dealing w. a big film, it was a disaster having an inexperienced director.

Either way looks like WB will have to invest in some new staff, which is not gonna be what they want to do. Although - no way to know the amount, but there will be disk/home view profits besides the BO. Not sure WB's picture financially is all THAT bad, because they'll probably just right everything off as a business loss. Upper management won't suffer.

MCU: Keep movie budgets all within a similar ballpark and with every new movie earn MORE than your previous movie.

DCEU: Keep increasing your movie budgets and with every new movie earn LESS than your previous movie.

Man are heads going to roll over at WB. :lol

It’s incredible to see such varied opinions on this film....

From passable to unwatchable.....

Yeah, but even if the stockholders/investors booted out upper management, that same upper management would leave with lots of benefits.

Meanwhile, the real hurt is to:

1. Fans.
2. Ben Affleck - who to me either looks like he ate something nasty and is dying to get into some comfy sweatpants or is fighting tears in some pictures;
3. The other actors;
4. The technicians including the ones who had to deal with the 'stache who were probably getting carpal tunnel and eye problems and hated what they were doing but had to put out **** work anyway in too short a time;
5. Other comic book movies - agree w. a YT commenter that Marvel is not celebrating, but probably up nights going over BP and IW with a microscope and spending more money (if all this delays the IW trailer I will be so PO'd:mad:)
6. Anyone not upper WB management 'coz they'll be let go like WB's last round of layoffs to appease investors;
7. Toy merchandisers w. unsold stock on the shelves - and the environment when all that unsold Chinese plastic **** is sent to a landfill;
8. Theater owners and managers and the BO had a big problem this year anyway;
9. Future crossover movies;
10. Fans.:(

IMO there's nothing positive about JL not doing well, really. Except *eventually* Marvel will have a fail - it's inevitable. Staff changes. Maybe the public in time really does get tired of comic book movies. I'm an MCU fan (at the moment) and I know that. So in time I can look forward to a stellar DC movie line-up, I think. There was a time when Marvel had sold off licenses and stuff.

But IMO right now it's a kind of golden age of comic book movies, and so it would have been nice if DC was rolling along too.:(

Oh it’s totally watchable but with zero depth the entire plot is literally good guy punch bad guy, the end. :lol

The business story behind it is where you will find all the depth and intrigue lol.

Diminishing returns, they must know it, they must know they can't continue this DCEU.

They can't overcome this bad blood.

Reboot inbound.
