I'd be curious how HT would tackle the cape, since their previous Batmans have been cloth capes in the movies.

Yeah, at this scale those rubber/vinyl type capes are just too hard. Plus you know how great Hot Toys is with rubber lately.

Imagine the cape cracking.

Some shots of coco's it sits beautifully! others is very meh!

Here's mine. It also is an older version just like Coco's with the better headsculpt. According to the original owner, this one was made a couple of years (2005) before Shawn offered them here on the boards. One of my favorite figures in my collection!

Yeah, best one Shawn made IMO.

I have one too, with new cape, circa 2007. See my sig. :blackbat

You do STILL have that Keaton Batman, the one I painted the face and emblem for you, Pjam? If you don't...man...I loved that one! I think Commtech's is wicked though. I need to post mine in here again. I took it to the presentation the other night, with the Joker, etc., and I realized I had done a lot of work on the head and not shown it here since. Need to do that.
Mine is a straightup mod of the Billiken kit, with the kit cut and put over a spandexed body. It's the head mods and the cape which is all I am really proud of though. It's really posable too, since I never got the thighs area done correctly, but it is REALLY posable, so it's a tradeoff.
Commtech's rocks though. If HT ever does one, it will have to be somewhat close to that figure's look. I mean, it has to.

Yep, mine is here boxed in pristine condition. Still has the new car smell. :lol. I hope to get an Evilface Box and stand for it too. :D

GREAT figure, Commtech. That picture makes it look particularly awesome. Great shot.

Lovin' these older Batman figures. Still one of THE best custom masterworks ever made or offered.

pjam: Actually, when I first joined the boards last year, it was because of that picture in your signature that I knew I had to track one down!

Glad to have played a part in that for you. :D And actually, yours looks to be THE Best of the Sov Keatons IMO. Why?

The Sculpt is the Biliken and it is amazing. I don't know exactly when that run was done but it must have been before the First Sov Resculpts. You can tell by the creases around the mouth and the lips, the new sculpts had a fighting expression, or scrunched Lip look, like mine. Only thing off is the eye color, which should be green/hazel which is why I had my eyes repainted. Also Les repainted the emblem and redid the belt. Here's a Pic of mine.

Still don't know where to get a duplicate of the Batman head sculpt, Commtech. I believe it's from Billiken, but why would Sovereign Studios stop recasting, THOSE! They're incredible. There must be some explaination as to why they've stopped.

I'm not sure if DreamTigers on Ebay sold those a long time ago...you actually don't see many custom 89 Jokers and Batmans on Ebay anymore come to think of it.

DreamTigers = SStudios = Shawn and totally agreed his 1st 89 version is the best.

Wow, I really can't believe Shawn was DreamTigers...AND I NEVER BOUGHT ONE FROM HIM!? I can specifically remember emailing him about the details of 'A' Michael Keaton Batman figure in 2006, not sure if that was the one or not, but if I recall, I wasn't totally satisfied with some part of the figure, though hard to believe if looked like THAT!!... maybe I just didn't have the money to buy one, I think it was $200...though I'm not sure. I paid a lot more for my Henry Wayne Batman in the eventual future.

Seriously though, I've rarely seen a Michael Keaton Batman like THAT on Ebay, and I've been searching since 2003. Usually if they were up for auction they'd go for $400-$600, like the Henry Wayne Batman figures that went up to $700 at times. Value for certain items have certainly gone down (and up) since 2003. Still, I would like to find this version that Commtech owns, or find someone that can paint the Billiken head sculpt for me. That's an incredible display piece, something you don't see often. Commtech, "everybody's GOT a PRICE!!!, Ahaahahahahahaha!!"

Got the cape futzed a bit and repainted the chest symbol as well as the lycra so that it isn't purple anymore. Here he is with my custom Batcave Buce (which I need to repaint too).

Looks nice, is the head a resin type material like Shawn's others? At least before his more recent ones where he started working with rubber. That's one limitation on Shawn's best heads, the resin looks nicer, but then on the shoulder parts, it's limiting to what can be done with the cape and arms.

Yes, this one is resin. I like them much more than the rubber one's too. Not as limiting as the more recent resin Bats sculpts either. I think the points of the cowl don't extend down as much so it allows for the cape to fold back nicely.

How'd you repaint the lycra? Wash or literally paint?

Looks great!

Thanks! I literally took a brush to it. Paints nice and easy and as long as you don't soak it it remains just as soft and flexible. Completely gets rid of that faded purplish look.

Personally, I think Shawn should have stuck with the resin heads, the one I got was the last really good looking Batman head he's done to me, there's been something off about the rubber ones, but the one I got and all the resin ones before it look nice, some better than others but I think any of them work well.

I agree. The fact that he could pull of a rubber cowl over a resin sculpt is pretty cool but it just doesn't look as good as the solid resin ones.

Here's a pic of the setup so far. As soon as I get my Bob the Goon sculpt back from Les and put him together then I think I'll make a nicer display cabinet to hold all of them.
