if health and the well-being of the people is the case then smoking should be banned period and caffeine should be the next to go as well
Then we can move on to excessive TV watching and internet surfing .. .etc .. ... :monkey1

not at all. LSD was legal for years.

Whether its legal now changes absolutely nothing about its negative effects on a person and whether or not it should be deemed legal / illegal in the best interest of the consumer

except we don't live in a vacuum where all that goes into a political/social decision is "health and well-being" do we?

exactly.... so time to legalize pot. Which is WAY down the list on whats toxic and already legal and unregulated for the masses.... :monkey1
good to see you agree ... :lol

“They were all high on…..marijuana. I found something else sir. They had dolls. Crazy freaky dolls from a company called Sideshow. Pure 100% cocaine madness.”

as long as my hard earned tax dollars are used to support broke ass ******* too lazy and stupid to get jobs, i say no way to legalizing this.

pot makes people lazy and complacent, and people are already way too lazy and complacent to begin with.

the intellectual lazy argument is that pot smokers are smoking anyway, might as well tax it. the truth is: legalize pot and the government basically becomes an endorser of its use. you open the flood gates to allow all the people that were previously not doing it because a)the taboo or social stigma b)the fear of legal punishment c)their employers ban it.

I firmly believe the amount of people on welfare and jobless benefits would sky rocket if pot was legalized for rec use. You'd see many a more child die from parental neglect. You'd see more deadly car wrecks. You'd see more home burglaries. You'd see more accidental pregnancy and thus more abortions. You'd see more retarded babies.

Thats is such a stereotypical statement that pot smokers are all lazy. I think a lot of people would rather substitute marijuana for alcohol if they had a choice, and it wouldnt reflect anything about being lazy. People are going to get it if they want it no matter what, but if its easily obtainable, like someone else already said, i believe some crime would decrease, this would create new jobs, and probably give more money to the state that is sorely needed. Again, marijuana is so very similar to alcohol, i dont see any major changes in behavior based on it. If people arent smoking, then their getting drunk........whats the difference?

well there lots of good points here.and no pot doesnt make people lazy, some yes but some of my friends work 10 11 hours a day and they smoke lots,so thats not true.but in the end pot is given to us from the earth.its not made in a lab. the goverment sells drugs a million times worse were thousands of people every year in the united states die from drugs supply, so now if they will supply us mary jane thats one of the better safer drugs to get from them.

Wow...I'm surprised this thread is still here...

They tried making alcohol illegal. It didn't work.

We really need to talk about real issues.... Like people wanting to take the toy from the Happy Meal/ Kids Meal.

I'm glad someone else recognizes the real issue here. I'm going to move to California so I can vote against this. Even though happy meal toys are crappy anymore.

Yes. What happened to cool happy meal toys like these. Goomba and Koopa Trooper toys were amazing!

Pot makes people lazy...period. I don't know how that can be denied. I've had habitual pot smoking friends during and after college and they are undeniably the laziest of all my friends. They dropped out of college because they were too lazy to do the homework while stoned and they were fired from simple jobs like waitering at Chili's because they couldn't be bothered to go to work anymore.

Its an intellectually lazy argument to compare pot to alcohol. I am a fairly solid drinker I suppose. Probably finish a 12 pack every other week. Drink a margarita or 2 a week and maybe go through a bottle of wine every other week. But I've never had a drink before work. How many heavy pot smokers can state they don't hit up before 10am on a workday?

Drinking and smoking are different. If this was not true then the simple solution could be to tell pot enthusiasts to drink! After all, its exactly the same...:duh

Regarding crime: the only "crime" that would decrease is "possession" itself. Its plain to me that legalizing pot would lead to MORE subsidiary crime. Such as DUI, burglary, muggings, murder, child endangerment, etc. Thiefs would rob people of their pot if they knew someone was a grower or was in possession.

I don't think an objective person can honestly say legalizing pot wouldn't open a whole can of worms.

and what did you do? key word to your statement was "Wanted". I bet you sat around on your ass and told your friends "lets do something" and they all said "yeah like eat some cheetos" and you ran to 7-11 and that was a productive morning. :lol

Well, without getting too much into it.. because I'm too lazy. Without pot. :/

I live in CA. I'll be voting for it.

Never smoked. Might never, even if it is legal.
But there is NO reason it should not be legal.
