Well that's the thing, you can nitpick certain scenes, but as an overall package, artistically it's just superior to Logan in every way.

Hell, X2 is my favorite Marvel movie ever, but there's certainly specific scenes that don't work to well, or not executed that well.

As much as I like Logan, I still prefer DOFP. :chase

My only criticism is the Logan is in bed the whole time...but at the same time I can appreciate the physical and mental sacrifice he makes to save the world, which is greater than anything he did with his claws in Logan....just not as cool looking :lol

I don't think a superhero film needs to be gritty and realistic to be great. Look at LOTR.

I can see why TDK is considered the benchmark for most people and critics, it's a movie that even people who don't like Batman or superheroes can appreciate. I don't think that will change anytime soon.

When another great superhero film comes out, no one will be calling it the "Logan" of superhero films. It will still be TDK, hence "Logan is the TDK of X Men films" - USA Today :lol

I think many years from now when the hero genre crashes and burns, Logan will have a place in the "Mount Rushmore of Superhero films" along with TDK and a few other films. Only the very best of the best will matter, and Logan will not be forgotten.

I've always thought Winter Soldier was the Marvel Universe's TDK. Logan is certainly a great movie, but I don't think it's better or equal to WS.

I can't remember what thread where we were talking about "fake trilogies" in a while back but BB, TWS, and Logan would make a nice threesome of awesomeness that each offers something different for its respective genre. Plus they all touch on the best aspects of each of the main cbm studios.

Batman Begins (WB) : Origin story

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (MCU): Middle act

Logan (Fox): Final chapter

DOFP is better than Logan.

Even though I think the Avengers is a horrible movie, I think of all the MCU movies it's the one that's going to be remembered. Maybe Iron Man since it started the MCU craze but it's funny because you barely hear anyone talk about these movies now so maybe I'm wrong.

I guarantee a year from now, nobody will be saying Logan is the best Marvel movie. The hype will wear off.

My FoX-Men list goes:

1. X2
2. DOFP
3. First Class
4. Logan
5. X1
6. Deadpool
7. The Wolverine
8. Apocalypse
9. X3
10. Origins

Well, it was innovative as far as uniting several franchises into one big film.

TWS, CW, Iron Man, and maybe even GOTG might be better, but they are just that, good or great films, while Avengers might be a landmark in the genre, hence why it's on my list.

The same can be said about Superman 1978 and TDK.

I'm not sure about Logan yet...because Deadpool kind of did the "modern" R rated thing first, but sometime is not who does it first, but rather, who does it best, so Logan might have an edge and the fact that they did it with a popular mainstream PG-13 character is another point for Logan.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the first part :lol

Yea think it's a horrible movie but for the reasons you said it's going to be remembered.

X1 should probably be on that list instead of Logan or Deadpool in my opinion. It's always being brought up as the movie that kicked off the golden age of superhero movies.

I don't know.

For some reason X Men movies always take a backseat to the MCU and even DC films in terms of pop culture relevance.

Deadpool and Logan might be the first to stay relevant.

That's true. When the first two X-Men films came out they were a huge deal but they seem to be forgotten about now. It's the same for Raimi's Spider-Man films, people weren't too bothered when Toby got recasted and everyone is already calling Tom Holland the best Spidey. In my opinion, last decade was the best for superhero movies, the felt complete, original, and each one felt distinct, you can see the filmmakers stamp on each movie. I remember DOFP came, everyone was saying it was the best, now it's already forgotten. I can see the same happening with Logan, Deadpool i think will definitely be remembered.

It has a lot more action than the Burton Batman films and Batman Begins.

I don't even remember any of the action scenes in the Burton movies. I might have to give those another watch soon, I just enjoy those movies for the atmosphere and nostalgia. I do love the Prince soundtrack for the first movie.

I think that Logan will be respected by those that saw it but I don't see it leaving much of a cultural footprint, if any. People will always default to "The Dark Knight." A top shelf Batman/Joker movie will always trump a top shelf [insert any other superhero] film as far as the public consciousness goes.

Plus when TDK came along there really wasn't a definitive modern cbm that captured the attention of the world. Now that that has been done other cbm's can only join the ranks of TDK, they'll never have their own singular moment where they can cement themselves at the top.

And I say this as someone whose favorite cbm (hell favorite Nolan movie even) *isn't* TDK.

I have to disagree, before TDK, Spider-Man 2 was considered the best superhero movie. TDK came out and eclipsed it. There just hasn't been a superhero movie that has had the staying power of TDK, none of the X-Men movies, none of the MCU movies and the DCEU is probably enhancing TDK legacy :lol

I know it pisses a ton of people off the praise it gets but until it's topped, I don't see it ever being replaced.
