Isn't there time travel in the next Deadpool film? Anyway, I kid of want to see the Apocalypse cast and a new Wolverine. I don't care about X-23.
Yeah, the whole idea of that character is such a transparent, and cynical cash grab. "Hey, let's take the powers and some personality from the 2nd most popular Marvel character, and make it a young girl with big ****s! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!"

Cable's gonna be in it, so probably, yeah. But I wouldn't look at Deadpool to establish a timeline. As for the cast, eh, I think it was a mistake they went back to the 80s. The whole prequel/sequel thing was a mistake. They should've just began anew with FC and wiped the slate clean. But nah, this is somehow better...

As for X-23, yeah, I ain't looking forward to that. I want some good Wolverine flicks first. And as far as replacements go, Daken is always gonna be my #1 choice. The dude was awesome when written by a competent writer.

No one should.

She ain't that bad a character, really. Marvel's really nerfed her now though, to the point where, she, on panel, went to Doctor Strange and complained that "men on the internet are sexist and don't like her wearing Logan's clothes"... Get it? Cause she's currently "the" Wolverine? Meta-Commentary? Morrison would've been proud...

I just remembered that Gambit was supposed to come out this year :lol

Ah thanks, I might actually check it then.

You really, should. The art alone is gorgeous:

As a sidenote, I'd also recommend tracking down Bunn's Magneto solo. It's 21 issues/4 volumes, and it features a really dark but strangely noble Magneto. Bunn's also the writer of the current Uncanny X-Men book, but it's more "traditional" and doesn't deal with the same themes. His Magneto though, that was some good stuff. It featured flashbacks to the camps (you could read Magneto: Testament for more inffo on that), it tied in greatly with the AXIS event, it was all in all a great and fascinating read.

I read Testament which I loved. I’ll definitely check out Magneto’s solo. Man, that art, and Logan looks amazing. He has an eyepatch now? I haven’t read a comic in a while but I’ll definitely be reading it.

Fox has only had three good films out of eight

X-Men (2000) 9/10 *Paved the way for this CBM genre that rules the film industry right now
Daredevil (2003) 6/10
X2: X-Men United (2003) 10/10
Elektra (2005) 6/10
Fantastic Four (2005) 6/10
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) 8/10
Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer (2007) 7/10
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) 6/10
X-Men: First Class (2011) 10/10
The Wolverine (2013) 9/10
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) 10/10
Fantastic Four (2015) 7/10
Deadpool (2016) 10/10
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) 8/10

I count five great films and three good films.

To each his own.

I definitely love what FoX-Men. Sure, some of the movies turned out horrible, but when they hit, they make some really great movies, not just good superhero movies. In my opinion, no Marvel movie comes close to being as good as X2. In fact I just don’t think any Marvel movie comes close to FC, X2 and DOFP, but X2 was just so ahead of its time. It’s amazing how well it holds up. But yea, I think we’ve definitely gotten more good X-Men movies than bad ones. The Wolverine I had some problems with, but I didn’t think it was a bad movie. Origins, X3, and Apocalypse are the only movies I can say they really dropped the ball on.

He wore an eyepatch during his Madripoor days, calling himself "Patch". He tried to reuse that identity in OML to gain some info, but it backfired on him. I won't say anymore so that the book won't be spoiled for you. Lemire also writes the excellent Moon Knight & Bloodshot books, which are thought to be amongst the top of the industry, by critics and fans alike. His Thanos ongoing is launching this November. As for the Magneto solo, it's one of Marvel's finest series in a while IMO. Read it and you'll see.

PS: In the vein of Testament were also Brubaker's "Books of Doom", which chronicled Doom's rise from orphan Roma to King, and Pak's "Red Skull: Incarnate", which gave us the origin of the Skull, Nazis and historical accuracies included. They're definitely worth checking out.

Yea I knew what happened to them in the comics, but since this is sort of a follow up for the OT characters, it seems a bit repetitive doing that to these characters again after the DOFP ending.

You see the irony though, right?

He travels back in time to save them but then kills them afterwards.

Quite brilliant really.

Sounds good. Thanks man. I'm actually extremely excited to read Wolverine now. I'll try and follow up on what you recommended :diff

No problem, glad to help! :duff

PS: I can't help but wish they bring Fassbender back a few years later to play an older Magneto. He quickly rose to become one of my favourites after Macbeth, Frank, Shame and most recently, Steve Jobs. I think it'd be neat to bring him in for a solo when he's 60 or so. The NOW! suit is a must though:

I'd be down for that. For now though, I think they need to stay away from Prof X and Mags, and start doing something new, like actually focusing on the X-Men. I told Gasper a while back that the best thing to do for the series is do a another soft reboot with the series and jump 40 years ahead instead of back. The next X-Men movie could feature the core adult team, with a new cast of actors, or just bring back the older ones. James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer I'd love to see comeback, but it would probably be best just to get new actors. It can still be part of the Singerverse, but it's time for the franchise to go in a new direction. I'd like to see Mcavoy and Fassbender stay in their roles, but I think they should be shelved for a couple of films until they look old enough to play Mags and Prof X.

I just didn't find any of the younger cast capable enough or interesting enough to carry the next few prequel films.

Personally speaking, I'm in the reboot camp. I want to see adult and capable versions of the characters I know and love. Not to mention that we need to see Cyclops evolve from an emotionally distant but collected leader to a militant enforcer and revolutionist due to the circumstances. He's got one of the best arcs in comics, and so far he's been mishandled. Just go back to the basics and start from there. I don't need any of the silly costumes though. AUs have some fantastic redesigns, especially Age of X. Bachalo's for Uncanny were great as well. Just pick a starting point and continue from there.

I love the idea of X-23 but I tried to read her series -around 2010-ish? - and it left me cold. I still think she's a cool idea so if she's in the movie in some form I'd like to see that.

When you put it like that, it actually does.

I mean honestly, what else could it be? Why are all the X-Men gone just 8 years later? And why is Wolverine living on his own?

If they did indeed adapt that brutal part of OML it perfectly explains why Logan walked away from heroics again and forever (he only left the X-Men for a year after killing Jean Grey).

When you kill everyone, you just don't come back.

Reboot would probably be the best route, even though I think if they soft reboot to current times it could just work as well, but I just love the Singerverse too much. This is franchise has be great at times, and horrible at times, and right now its kind of in a weird stage where its mixed because Deadpool was a major success but Apocalypse was disappointing. Whatever they do next, I think it would be a huge mistake to make another prequel set in the 90’s. Also Simon Kinberg needs to go.

While thats great for thematic reasons, I sort of hope you’re wrong :lol

I’d love to see the OT characters show up and retire with Hugh on this one, but you’re probably right. I can’t wait for the trailer to drop, supposedly it should be sometime this month.

I would actually rate DD directors cut a 7.5/10

I would rate Elektra even lower than 6!

Deadpool 10/10...don't agree.

Trank's Fantastic Four a 7/10!

Ohhh hell no lol
