Maybe SS will have some special release to accompany this announcement... you know, since SW fandom takes the LOTR's fanatics and likes to remind us that LOTR's are just fantasy books and a couple movies, while SW has far more life lessons and has, by definition at this point, a truly religious following. There are cults who WISH they were Star Wars :wacky
Seriously? I mean, what's going to happen when STAR WARS comes out on Blu Ray? They probably already have bootlegs for them :banghead
If I didn't love lightsabers so much...

Okay, I am aware that this wasn't the most appropriate place to vent like this, but I will return to topic by stating that I'll be waiting for the Extended Versions to come out on Blu Ray before investing, especially since my parents will probably just end up buying the first releases themselves, and I can just watch theirs.:peace

My heaven's. Anyone who believes this must have the reading comprehension of a 7 year old.

Sorry, not to rant on you but you kind of deserve it after an asinine comment like that. :lol

But Pix! Star Wars really happened! It's real life, unlike that fantasy Lord of the Rings!

Ok, to steer this back on track -- looks like they're releasing the TEs as a trilogy, and available now for pre-order at Amazon for $70.

For those of you who might be interested, Amazon.com now has New Line's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy available for pre-order on Blu-ray (theatrical editions only - SRP $99.98 but Amazon's price is about $70). Street date is still TBA, but we're expecting a December release. [Editor's Note: Sources close to director Peter Jackson have informed me that he's holding back the extended editions for an elaborate "ultimate" box set release closer to the debut of the new Hobbit films - that's why these are set to be theatrical only. Obviously, not everyone is going to want them as such, but they're designed to satisfy fans who want something in the meantime. So simply be aware that if you want to wait for the more elaborate release, you'll get one eventually. Just FYI.]

Hey guys after reading it again i think he is having a go at the SW nuts sorry fans rather than that being his opinion.

I know its not the extended editions but I will be buying it. Will get the extended editions when they are released in 2 years time.

I know you'll enjoy them no doubt but i will be patiently waiting for the EE's.:D

Not interewsted in the SE at all. I tried watching them in HD last month and they felt horrible cut down. :lol

(that and Sam's hair Joker-Green for almost all of RotK).

What do you mean "since when"?

It was GREEN on my TV screen when I watched it in HD a few months ago. (and yes my color was adjusted correctly).

GREEN GREEN GREEN. I am talking circus clown GREEN.

I've never thought it was green at any point watching it on DVD or TV. I just watched ROTK EE on my folks plasma and it was the same color as it was in the FOTR EE. So I'm not seeing what you did.

Josh.....

sigh.

When I watch my EE DVD's his hair in not green.

When I watched it (the HD TE), this one time, on an HD channel on CABLE it was green.

Are you understanding me? Not sure how I can be much clearer or why its not computing for you. :lol

I bought my Denon receiver with the Realta chip specifically to get the best picture quality possible from my extensive DVD collection. It does a phenominal job of upconverting to 1080P. It's so good that I'll only be replacing my absolute favorite DVD's for Blu Ray. I'll definitely be waiting for the extended versions.

I certainly won't mind owning the Academy Awarding winning versions for a couple of years until the EE's come out. I'll want both versions anyway, I wonder if the new set in 2011 will have both or will just feature the extended cuts.

I'm sorry for misunderstanding you.

Just placed my preorder for the set at Amazon. Still no street date, but they are charging $70 based on a $100 list price for what is apparently going to be a seven disc set.

Yeah, I ordered mine this morning. Love the Amazon app on the Iphone. :rock It looks like its going to have a lot with it so I'm down with having it.
