Could be. I'm still not sure if the issues with pregnancy are a recent phenom on the island or not.

debate rages in the Lost community:

Unless there are other statues, this seems to point towards Anubis:

I probably think it's both. Tawaret on the surface and Anubis underneath it.

Tawaret the god of birth/life and Anubis the god of death/underworld. It makes sense when you think about it like that. But what would Egyptians be doing on an island that's in the Pacific.....????? It could be just a gigantic red herring, or maybe the island is the source of the Egyptian's belief in the afterlife. After all, Locke seemed to have "died" and is having a nice "afterlife" on the island.....

Ten to one we learn that the island was once referred to as "Atlantis" and the statue is just one of the many similarities between the Egyptian and Mayan cultures that is attributed to Atlantean influcence by some scholars.

They postulate that there must have been some kind of link between those two cultures to explain why both used pyramids and seemed to have advanced construction techniques and astrology, so hey, why not Atlantis?

If that were true, I would not be surprised

I don't think its necessarily Anubis or that there needs to be other statues just because there is an anubis on the door. It could be two separate things.

Good point. The Anubis drawing is in a completely different position than the statue and seems to be making a connection between it and the smoke monster/lightning drawing. Anubis being the god of underworld, death and he who judges your worthiness all fit with the function and habitat of the smoke monster.

If the statue is Tawaret, then is what's in it's shadow responsible for Richard's long life?

Obviously some Egyptian group, possibly connected to the frozen donkey wheel worm hole to Tunsia, lived on the island long ago and built the statue. What happened to them and do the powers of the island pre-date that group? I figure Richard is a member of that group and Widmore and Ellie from the Black Rock perhaps? And when did Jacob enter the picture? Has he always been there? Whatever it is, I think they'll reveal a lot more about Richard, Jacob, the statue and the early days of the island before this season ends.

Since tomorrow is Richard's flashback, I suppose we'll find out then.....I hope

We got tomorrow's episode and then I think the 2 hour season finale.

There is also another new recap that airs at 8pm before the season finale. I'll check out the recap, since we already got one just 2 weeks ago, it makes me wonder if this new recap might be something special?

May 6th : "Follow the Leader"
May 13th: "The Incident" (2 hour season finale; precursor at 8pm 'Lost: A Journey in Time' recap)

Probably going to be the same "recap" they showed a few weeks ago

I just edited my post with the title of it: Lost: A Journey in Time. I am 100% sure it is new. They also list it on LOSTPEDIA airing on May 13th, which basically means it is not a repeat. The previous recap was the story of the O6. So this one might be the story of those left on the Island.

Hmmmm, sounds interesting. Might check it out

The season 5 penultimate episode tonight! :banana

Gonna be a bummer when we have to wait till next year for more Lost.

I'm actually trying to avoid spoilers before next week's finale, so I'm going to try to stay away from this thread just in case. A week from tonight will be the final Lost season finale cliffhanger episode EVER. I don't want it spoiled...

Not a bad episode. It wasn't really the Richard centric that tvguide and other places said it was.

But damn did they tease us with Richard building the model of that ship in the bottle. A lot of people theorize that Richard was aboard the Black Rock and that scene I think hinted at it.

I had the same reaction that Ben did when Locke said he was going to kill Jacob. Hopefully we get to actually see the result of the search for Jacob next week....if the season ends with Locke finally seeing what or who Jacob is without showing the audience would be very annoying.

I agree with Tom, I might try to stay away from this thread until the end of next Wednesday. The next 7 days will be the prime time for spoilers to be released.

The episode was alright, it basically had to set up the finale.

I could see them revealing Jacob, everyone who is watching jaws dropping, and then the episode ending.

You're nuts. This was hands down my favorite episode of the season and probably one of my favorites of the series. It had everything. Great interactions, Richard/Ben/Locke/other Locke :) Sawyer/Juliette/Kate/Jack, Miles and his dad, great comedy from Hugo, Sayid reappearing to save the day, even Ellie and Charles, Radzinski and Horace were strong in their moments, everyone had time to shine and it didn't feel cramped. Impressive pacing and editing; loved the shot of Sawyer looking at the island and descending into the sub cut with Richard diving into the pool. Great drama, action, comedy, plot, surprises and winks at the audience.

Even more jazzed for the finale next week. I'm amazed that this season has been so consistent and chocked full of great moments. Maybe the best season of the 5 so far?

Still seems like Locke is a lock for Jacob. But anything can happen. :huh I love this show!
