73- i say that again- 73% Friday to Friday plummet on box office for this...............whoa what is going on.....really puzzling (not that the $117 million opening weekend was something so gigantic it couldn't keep up)

I haven't been following. Maybe it's too light for people who wanted more heavy action? Some people I know loved it, others not so much.

I've still only seen it once; I think I'll settle for it being a really enjoyable part of something bigger, i.e. the MCU.

It hasn't stayed with me and the humour isn't on par with the heist antics of Ant-Man.

I still really dig it and for the most part love Holland's Spidey, but I suppose it's a little uneven.

But most of the effects-laden light entertainment I love is more about characters and set-pieces than fine cinema. It's all very expensive pulp.

I'll have to think about what could qualify as a truly strong film that transcends genre. Iron Man comes to mind as close, except the end fight and Stane were kind of a letdown.

'89 Batman has a number of holes, but somehow holds together on a fairytale level.

Other than that, Ant-Man somehow channels MCU meets the '80s meets Guy Ritchie.

I loved Ed Norton as the Hulk in spite of the film's weaknesses, and enjoy the build-up in Avengers.

CA: The First Avenger was great, Civil War had some weak writing but incredible action; GOTG reminds me of the '80s stylistic callbacks like Ant-Man. I need to watch TWS again...

If I think about it, most of these films lose it a bit for me in the 3rd act; maybe the CG, maybe the lack of stakes.

Yet I love it all. Marvel's got my money, as long as they don't screw up as badly as they did with Iron Fist.

That IS an incredible drop in ONE DAY!!!

But here's why: I did not see this. And there's a lot of 'me' out there. I'm not a comic book nerd who feels compelled to see every iteration of a hero rebooted every few years. If it sounds good, I'll see it. If not, it looses my money. Imagine millions of people feeling this way.... and you get 73% drop.

Wonder Woman wins the summer. You're going to get so sick of hearing this. :lol

With the exception of Wonder Woman, I've waited for digital releases of DC films, although I still paid to watch them at home.

I'm along for the MCU ride, so I'm going to watch everything. Most of it in theatres, exceptions being GOTG, the first 2 CA films, the Thor films and The Incredible Hulk, that I can remember. At this point I'll probably go see everything on opening weekend.

Wow, I know that this wasn't going to be universally praised, but that's a much bigger hit than I ever would've expected!

I'm a definite fan and I'm looking forward to watching this Spidey evolve in the MCU.

I will say that WW did it for me a little more though

So 61% drop. Worst mcu drop. Damn lol. Weird how the friday to friday 70% drop is still better than aou and cap civil war. And those 2 crossed a billion. Spidey wont. But at this point its only making profits with some major overseas markets left.

Funny how its kind of bunched up with many other Spiderman drops. Seems Spiderman has a threshold of popularity that is predictable.

This is the math the suits do.

It was fun and enjoyable, but nothing people were hyping it up to be. Doesn't have the charm of the first 2 Raimi Spidey movies for me. I'm sure it will still make $300mil domestically.

And obviously the drop doesn't mean much for some movies.

Punisher Warzone: 67
Suicide Squad: 67

SS went on to make Worldwide: $745,600,054
Punisher WZ - = Worldwide: $10,100,036

It was fun and enjoyable, but nothing people were hyping it up to be. Doesn't have the charm of the first 2 Raimi Spidey movies for me. I'm sure it will still make $300mil domestically.

I liked it but it presented nothing new per Spidey flicks besides extremely forced diversity.

Despite the boxoffice it will eventually take, is Spiderman now considered a 'failure' because it didn't ignite a huge positive response and a summer of t-shirts and hats?

No I don't think so. I mean I don't think it did. People loved it. Wonder why the drop was so big

Doubt a failure. Remember even sony had it at 80-90 mil opening. I read an article saying its performing great overseas. I guess only time will tell

WW dropped only 29% in its 7th week, this summer belongs to WW.

Apes underperformed domestic and international, no more ape movies lol.

Black Panther is smart for not calling the villain Man Ape lol.

My only concern as with all marvel movies is the drama they tend to shy away from it and not bring and tragedy to their movies. I like to see a little of that so I feel like a watching a story and not a video game
