wow boxing is a complete joke now. i lost respect for pac after he said he thought he won. boxing is taking a play out of wwf's playbook.

I agree with you guys. I hated how Pac fought tonight. But how on earth can you say Marquez got robbed. Pac had more punches on Marquez. Just because he did better than a lot of people predicted, doesnt make him the winner.

WTF!!!!! i am sooooo upset on this fight :taz No knock out :pfft: not good for Pacman. Now i don't even know if he can beat Floyd, his a very very good counter puncher so hopefully will see the fight on May if Manny win he need a JMM rematch and NO MORE Decision Manny need to KNOCK OUT JMM

:lecture This. :lol

He's a talker...no doubts about that.

And the Mayweather camp stating they will fight some unnamed fighter next year is a pretty lame marketing stunt. I mean, who here got excited from that bit of news.

Iy could well be a marketing stunt but id sooner him or them come out and say something. Mayweather usually disappears or retires after each fight so its a strategic step forward :lol

Speed and reflexes are always the first to go on a boxer (unless the chin has been tested with failing results). Mayweather losing some of his speed/legs and reflexes will def. lose to Pac., even if Pac. has similar degradation of his.

This fight, however, poses an interesting question, who has had the tougher career body-wise. I would argue Pac. has had more wear and tear. MW has had longer lay-offs, so can he maintain his mental/physical acumen?

If both go in the fight today I give MW the edge, based on past fights, styles and overall wear and tear. But this fight isn't made so who the frak knows.

Get it made and lets find out...that is if Pac gets by Marquez:wink1:

General wear and tear id say Manny has took most. His style of fighting is a bit more honest and forward thinking and is more likely to get in a war.
Mayweather has the best defence in boxing period and is very clever at not getting hit and using speed in and out.
I think Manny would have to knock mayweather out to beat him. Over 12 rounds, Mayweather would shape and control the fight imo.
Thats what makes it so interesting.

Manny looked like ____ tonight compared to his usual form. Marquez fought the fight of his life, a near perfect fight to counter Pacquiao and he got screwed big time. Really feel bad for him, but he should know that his sport is all about the corruption and politics. Pacquiao is the golden boy of vegas, why would they tarnish that with someone like Marquez as his opponent.

Boxing go away. you are a disgrace.

I dont see how anyone can say he got robbed. It could have gone either way IMO, neither we're clearly the winner. So unless you were clearly the winner you can't say you were robbed.

Maybe he should look at his corner for saying he is winning and then playing D the rest of the fight.

I see it this way (and Emmanuel Lewis mentioned this as well).

If you're the champion, you have to have the championship taken from you. Being Captain Obvious here, but as a challenger, you have to either knock out the champion to win the belt, OR if you hope to win by decision, you have to have outfought the champion so thoroughly that the judge HAVE to award you the decision; any evenly matched fight will almost always end in a decision for the champ.

Spoken like a true boxing fan! :hi5:
This is always the case, unfortunately. That is why boxing has gone down in popularity since the 90's, and people started noticing MMA. The subjectivity in boxing is what ruins it. MMA fights end in knockouts 98% of the time, so you have a clear-cut winner, and there are no speculations or arguments on who's the better fighter.

Nevertheless, congratulations to Manny. I hope the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight materializes on May 2012. :(

just so you know, that statement was made up to protect the corruption in boxing and give them leeway to get away with things. Meaning, the only way you can foil the corruption is to make it SO OBVIOUS that no fight fixing could change it. Ie, knocking the guy out or clearly blowing them away round by round....probably having to knock the guy down 10 times in 12 rounds right?

what a joke. the fight I saw, pacqiao lost, and marquez easily won at least 7 of the 12 rounds.

From what I hear, it was close. But you can't expect to beat pacquiao by closeness, especially with his reputation and name. If it could have gone either way, then you can't really say you got robbed. It just came down to the skin of the teeth really. I didn't watch the fight, but they really need to do a 4th match from what I am gathering.

Manny won only based on the number of punches landed. Period. Weak fight. Worst I have ever seen Manny fight. He may have landed more throws, but Marquez seemed to have more power behind his punches.

That being said, Marquez sure looked beat up for someone so sure he won. Pacquiao barely looked any worse for wear.

The opening two fights were great though!

It was the right call. Pacquiao was the aggressor most of the night and especially in the last two rounds. Marquez had a higher % landed but Pacquiao landed more. It was a good fight but Marquez was robbed of nothing.

They will always give close fights to the champ, even if the champ appears to be slightly losing the fight, as mentioned earlier. It was no surprise to me that Manny won the fight after watching all 12 rounds. What did surprise me was the performance of marquez. He did not look like a 38 year old fighter-like he did when he fought mayweather. Seriously, the fight could have gone another 10 rounds without either fighter tiring out. They looked like 2 young spring chickens out there. They looked like they could have gone on forever.

Angel Hernandez was hired by Marquez's team as his strength trainer. This dude was involved in the Balco steriod scandal and has been known to inject many athletes with performance enhancing drugs. Marquez looked like he was 28 instead of 38. You think he got some extra help last night? What do you guys think? Maybe mayweather has a reason to be scared. Olympic style drug testing...maybe not be such a bad idea. Who knows.

I think Pac even got more power punches. I could be wrong tho

I guess thats the woes of a counter puncher? Unless you marginally kill it during the fight, the more aggressive one will always have leeway
