I guess thats the woes of a counter puncher? Unless you marginally kill it during the fight, the more aggressive one will always have leeway

Not so sure about that. Mayweather's entire game is counter-punching and the dude is undefeated.

Just watched the fight. Firstly what a fight. Secondly well done Marquez. Out boxed and out thought Manny.
Its ok saying manny should have won for being the aggressor but you have to connect with your shots and when Manny launched his assult, no one was there. Marquez steps asside and over the top. Marquez puts together a combo then steps out so Manny misses with the straight right. The judges should be ashamed. Manny looked surprised and Freddy kept saying your falling behind. He was completely out thought and Manny didnt have an answer.
Marquez not only thought the fight of his life, he got himself in the best possible shape. Manny was slightly predictable.

I see it this way (and Emmanuel Lewis mentioned this as well).

If you're the champion, you have to have the championship taken from you. Being Captain Obvious here, but as a challenger, you have to either knock out the champion to win the belt, OR if you hope to win by decision, you have to have outfought the champion so thoroughly that the judge HAVE to award you the decision; any evenly matched fight will almost always end in a decision for the champ.

Thats all well and good if the fights close.
This wasnt!
Manny won 4 rounds tops.

Not only undefeated but never touched canvas in his pro boxing career.
Marquez fighting like that would have given Mayweather more problems than in there fight.
I still think Manny is the only fighter who could defeat Mayweather despite what should have been a loss to Marquez.

It was the right call. Pacquiao was the aggressor most of the night and especially in the last two rounds. Marquez had a higher % landed but Pacquiao landed more. It was a good fight but Marquez was robbed of nothing.

Yeah you are 100% right.

I think Pac even got more power punches. I could be wrong tho

Could be you're right. One thing I noticed was the camera direction in this fight was terrible.

funny thing was....

Manny was more excited about his concert than the fight. :lol

And therein lies the problem. :lol

Anyone how can look at Marquez's swollen face and say he won has got to be blind or full of wishful thinking.

The computer agrees with the judges

marquez should put his foot where his mouth is, if he still thinks he won that fight. lolz

Well, Fosing, have you watched many lefties fighting conventional fighters? This happens all the time. Usually by the lefties. Looks like Marquez had excellent foot-work--especially in throwing off PAC's rhythm. If Pac couldn't figure it out, which from watching the entire fight I would argue he couldn't, then too bad--stepping on an opponents foot is NOT a foul.

:wave

LOL @ Marquez and his cry baby followers. Dude cheated, never attacked Manny, and with his face all swollen from Manny's beating still came away looking the worse of the two. yet he won? :lol

Dude is worse than a cheater. COWard.

WTF!!!! i read that one to :gah: i wont spend any penny to watch his fight unless he fight Mayweather  don't care about Timoty B. or any other else I WANT FLOYD!!!!!!! F*#$ Bob$h!tArum we want this FIGHT:thwak

:dunnoDoubt Manny will want anything to do with Mayweather after getting a gift decision over a 39 year old Marquez whom Money May completely dismantled a few years back :lol at the naive Pacman followers who thought Manny was some kind of unbeatable superman :lol :lol

If you knew as much about boxing as you want everyone here to believe, you wouldn't say something as stupid as because A beat C, and B had a harder time with C, therefore A can beat C.

Your logic is pretty flawed there Mr. Experience. :)

:mwaha For someone like you to call other people "stupid" is flawed logic in itself :duh..Arguing with you about boxing or anything else for that matter, is as hopelessly futile as debating with this guy:

NOT INTERESTED :lol :lol

Well, glad Pac won, but it wasn't convincing....then again, how could you argue with the statistics. No one went down and Pac landed more punches, typical for the aggressor of a match.

Now, what the hell is Bob Arum talking about?
Pac-May fight is the ONLY fight that makes sense.
It has been for the past couple years.

May 2012...Pac vs. May....Let's get it on _____es!

i know its not a foul. my point was, if he focused more on landing punches rather than distracting(which looks intentional too) an opponent to stay alive and survive....doesn't deserve to be clamoring to be called "champion".
