Let me ask you gun owners in fear of home invasion another question- why do you honestly think an armed assailant would want anything but your valuables? Why do you think you can one up them at their own game and shoot them first without endangering yourself or your family? SUrely if a criminal sees you have a gun they will take appropriate actions and take you out just for the fact that you have escalated the threat level on their lives. A home break-in, in most cases, only results in property lose until a criminal feels threatened.

What are you gong to do?? Turn a corner like Jack Bauer and blow their heads off before they see you? Doesn't work like that, especially without the proper training. In fact if you take a self defense course most instructors advise you to run and never try to fight or disarm an attacker because usually it is extremely dangerous and very difficult.

I think the problem with your thinking lies in the fact that you don't see very far into a problem. Why do we have these enemies in the first place? Start at the root and you will find that violence was never the appropriate answer for our country.

If you are given the opportunity to run away you must first and always take that course before fighting back violently. If you have a chance to get away and you still proceed to use unnecessary force on an intruder you will be held liable for your actions.

Very rarely. If you are talking about rape then accurate statistics done by both law enforcement and the government prove that rape is often and mostly done to people that are already acquainted- not by strangers breaking into your house.

Statistically speaking you have a better chance of being struck by lightning then being raped by an intruder breaking into your home.
