I picked up the TV series set yesterday. They do look better than the comic set but I keep hesitating on opening them. Though I have to say both benefit from being seen in-person at their actual itty-bitty size.
Also, the wind-up feature on the Zombie Walker requires hideous looking foot additions.

Here are some pics I took at the show. Should also be noted that the black pegs on Darryl's arms are painted flesh tone on the figure I purchased.

I'm not sure what the deal is with this b&w Rick but he looks pretty cool. Reminds me of watching The Mist in b&w.

And just a random note - I saw Kirkman signing and he has to be the most personable "talent" I've ever seen at a show (though admittedly I don't go to a lot of these). He was very talkative and making sure he shook people's hands and engaged everyone.

Does anyone know where I can buy this Black & White Rick Grimes Figure?

Nick

These are pretty cool. I like Walking Dead (mostly the comics) and these don't look that bad. But I just don't collect the smaller action figures anymore. If these were of a larger scale, maybe.

Sorry, but the TV ones suck as bad as the others do. I dont understand how the hell McFarlane is still in buisness, why they havent upped their work, and why people buy their crap.

I almost bought the set at NYCC, but seeing the walker's foot stabilizers turned me off. I wish McFarlane had stayed away from the goofy, stupid KID action features. I don't think they've done those since the early Spawn figure days. What gives? Removable limbs and stuff on the zombies is great. I don't need them to walk. :slap:

This line had SO much potential and they've already blown it. Hopefully NECA can get the figures license soon after McFarlane bails. NECA is already making other WD stuff so McF must have beat them to the figure license :banghead:

My god the joints are grotesque particularly on Daryl. They couldn't even cast them in a damn flesh-tone? Awful. McFarlane have seriously gone downhill.

McFarlane is just an out of touch *******. He really is. I'll defend his earlier work. But not now. He had a good idea on what sold, and what didn't back then....but he blew it because you can't run a company with a 3rd rate comic book hero, and cult classic films.

If NECA did only toys, without swag, they would've been out of business long ago, like SOTA.

At least NECA gives an arse about hiding joints. Their sculpts are still top notch, its just paint and QC thats their problem.

Not that it makes too much of a difference but the pics I posted were from a con display. The actual production figures they were selling had flesh colored pegs. But they're still pretty big and unsightly at the tiny 5" scale.

see.. I said it before but, Mcfarlane Never cared about joints, all his figures are little statues, and we liked them and we bought them, why make the joints on these so awful though? i dont get it

These look better than the comic book versions, but that's not really saying much. Might pick up Rick if I see him. Not going out of my way though.
