Yes they are brittle. I would replace it with a naked 2 if you were going to sell it. If you keep it if swap it with a TT slim. Just depends on how much modding you want to do. A Medi body should require little modding at all. A TT swap it a bit more labor intensive. This is a slim.

Jim, how did you attach the Medi Maul head to the slim TT? I used a bbi neck for my Fett kitbash, but I've never seen those necks in black.

I have a 1st generation Maul so I'm afraid the body will eventually need to be replaced. Besides, I like the TT body better than Medicom's anyway.

Hey PJ. I used the black Hot Toys neck from my spiderman 3 figure. Its tapered better than a traditional hot toys neck like the one that comes with the new goblin figure. The newer necks on the regular bodies are more realistic than the old ones.

Here's a shot of the 3 types of hot toys necks. The first one is an older regular TT neck. The one in the middle is the newer regular neck. The last one is the slim neck. Both spiderman figures come with the first newer type of neck but in black. I just simply snacked one off and replaced it with a regular neck.

Then I just shaved the maul head neck down to more resemble a hot toys head. Then back filled the head with hot glue allowing it to cool and solidify layer by layer until I was ready to put it on the neck. Then I just kept the head upside down with the neck hot glued in place in some ice water and done.

Wow, Jim, that's fantastic! Thanks for posting the close-ups. While that sounds like a tremendous amount of work, you ended up with very seamless-looking results. I don't have the guts to shave off that much material from a head sculpt.

And, dare I say, that Hot Toys neck looks better than the original Medicom one it was originally attached to, without mentioning how good that slim TT looks overall on Maul. I'm very impressed. :clap

Thanks PJ. Coming from you after seeing your work is a huge compliment for me.

I'm pretty sure I'm still an apprentice among all the Jedi masters like you, Jim. Like I said, there's no way I would THINK of taking the measures you took to getting your Maul looking as good as it does.

In fact, seeing your pics makes me realize how awkward looking my stock Medi Maul looks on the original body. When this body eventually crumbles, it may actually come as a relief to me to finally attempt an upgrade like yours!

Jedi Jim,
Thanks for sharing. That is excellent and so well explained. Don't know if I will ever get around to doing but I really appreciate the information!!!

I debated a lot and bought medicom. I will tell you pros and cons.... Sideshow one has better sabers, and a better body. Medicom has a better fitting costume, and a way better head sculpt. The body is weakish though and neck a bit long. However i preferred a better head sculpt over anything else and medicom one is way more expressive, more hand options and better fitting costume. See some youtube videos as well. Marginally i prefer medicom. Once again medicom body sucks though...

Both have their merits. It all come down to personal preference. I think both camps are about even on this one. Both agree that the bodies for both aren't great for different reasons. It came down to head sculpt for me too. I like the Medi much better but SS had some great aspects as well. Its been discussed at great length in here about the pluses and minuses for both. Ultimately I used:
Medi:
Head
Outfit
Cloak
Boots
Binoculars
Hands

SS:
Belt
Sabers
Stand

HT:
Body
Neck

Back
