Guilty. :lol I had no idea what Z.O.E. was about, but it really didn't matter since I had to have the MGS2 demo.

Yeah, tons of people did it. The hype for MGS2 was through the roof though. People were dying to get their hands on it. Rising isnt on the same level as that, but I'm sure some folks will do it again. I was never a big MGS fan. I played through MGS2 , but that was it. Not for me.

I was already getting ZOE and then i found it had an MGS2 demo which was a beautiful surprise.

ZOE was a great game, it showcased what the PS2 could do and had this lovely aesthetic and a nice, almost indie, story.

But ZOE coming with a Rising demo is awesome, im getting that sexy ass Limited edition for sure!

trailer looks awesome, but wanna see some gameplay vids. wouldn't want this to be another ng3. but it's platinum games, so i'm sure the gameplay will be there. waiting for e3.

Gameplay looks neat. Not sure if it'll hold through an entire game, but I think the success or failure of this one rests on the story.

It's stupid that everything disappears when cut. What is this, PS1 era?

Platinum focuses more on fluid and hectic gameplay and so often the visuals have to take a slight dive to compensate. It is a worthy sacrifice when you actually get a chance to play their games in person and realize how much smoother and rewarding they feel in comparison to almost all other games in the genre.

But seriously graphics complaints? Is that really what makes a MGS game? Honestly, I feel like people are just hating on the game for the sake of hating on it. It is a spin off title not a reboot or remake like DMC so people shouldn't treat it that way. Raiden's scenes in MGS4 were incredibly ridiculous and ill fitting so it makes sense he is equally as ridiculous when actual put on the battlefield against mass enemies.

Just going by that blade mode tutorial the game looks great visually and very smooth. It also seems to retain the humor the games are known for. The hostages thing and ongoing watermelon joke are always well appreciated.

The interface looks slick too and the combat might rival Bayonetta's. This could possibly take over as the best game of the genre, much like Bayonetta did.

Yep, it's called having 60 FPS. And you need that for this type of game.

Most console games barely stay at 30.

On a side note... I think more action games need to adopt Ninja Gaiden controls though... those are fluid, easy, and just makes sense. Why make dodge and block different buttons and awkward to do? Just do it like Ninja Gaiden damnit! Moves should mesh together not be separate entities if you want the smoothest gameplay. (NG3 is still ____ though) /rant, side note

Half the time his sword is cutting through walls, and the other half of the time it's bouncing off a Gecko's soft legs... This game is so over the top it can't even keep up with it's own inconsistencies. It almost looks too ridiculous to enjoy. I may give it a shot but I think it's lost what I liked about the MGS series, sneaking around avoiding conflict to get the job done. If I want fast paced action I think I'll wait for the next ZOE game... This one just looks a little clunky for my taste.

Your explanation is somewhat unnecessary, since many of us here are already familiar with Platinum Games. No one's hating on Rising, but it is a disappointment to see that the graphics have actually become much worse, compared to when KojiPro was developing this game. Or rather, it's disappointing to see that Platinum hasn't made any significant upgrades their game engine, since the days of Bayonetta.

Also, MGS games have always had superior graphics. Every release in the series so far, has pushed the limits on the graphical capabilities of their respected consoles. So, yeah, good visuals and MGS do go hand-in-hand. But, then again, Rising isn't an MGS game :monkey1.
