Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Nope, just chocolate milk, I'm not a psychotropic enthusiast like some of you here mate ;)

Yeah, so, Snake Eater was a success, if he wanted to milk the franchise why not continue straight with that story line instead of Making MGS4 about Solid Snake? Contradictions.

And how can you possibly know his artistic views? :cuckoo:

Because he's wanted to leave the franchise for the last decade that's why. Konami has brought him back because he pulls in a lot of revenue. Konami has been reeling him back in time and time again.

Where did you read that? I've never heard anything about Kojima wanting to leave the franchise, he's said it himself that he wouldn't let anybody else be in charge of MGS, plus I know he wanted to get out of Konami, but not MGS, and Konami did bring him back cause they need him financially, so I give you that, but that doesn't compromise his integrity as a creator, the way I see it Konami depends more on Kojima than viceversa.

Where have you been!? It's been known for years he wanted to leave MGS to his team after MGS2 and then MGS3 and then he was forced to come back again and now he's basically succumbed to the demand for him to be the director.

Don't you think "forced" is a bit much? I doubt anyone had a gun to his head to accept more money. :p

Forced? Forced? That's straight up lie, he's doing MGS cause he want's to, period.

I honestly don't know anything about him wanting to leave MGS, if you could share a source, I'd appreciate it.

I do remember he said something about wanting to be known as something more than "the MGS guy".

Well yes but I mean, he works for Konami so of course he has to go where the work is. But it's still not denying the fact he wanted off the boat years and years ago.

He was receiving death threats when it was announced he wasn't directing MGS4 originally.

“Metal Gear Solid 2 was meant to be my last Metal Gear before I handed it off to the team, and the team did actually start working on MGS3, but unfortunately there were problems and it didn’t go well, so I was forced to come back and work on it,” he told the magazine. A similar situation unfolded with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Remember that whole incident a few years ago, when Kojima literally begged MGS fans to write 'Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more!' to the CEO of Konami? (here's the link below)

He's been wanting out of MGS for a long time. The entire series has been in a mess since Peace Walker (maybe since MGS 4) and its only going to get worse.

There's nothing artistic. Just lots of cash to be made from MGS - the only profitable series that Konami has at their disposal.

Thanks.

I think that article itself pretty much debates you own point more than it does mine.

"Kojima admits that “it’s very hard to come up with the concept of a game and hand it off to other people, as of course they can’t see what’s in my head. They may not be able to understand the concept completely, or the messages that I want to convey and that’s where things went awry in the past as people couldn’t really understand what I wanted. I decided at that point that if I was going to make a game based around these ideals that I would do it myself, which is why I keep getting involved.""

If he was a sellout or was botching up things like some say here, he wouldn't preoccupy about the final product so much to come back after leaving, he obviously cares about transmitting in the game exactly what he means, other-wise he would've let the team on his own and MGS would be a mess by now.

His artistic vision went out the window years ago which is why every game following MGS2 has been a watered down story to cater to the fans.

MGS4 was a cluster **** directly because of his team vetoing Kojima's plot lines namely his original ending.

It's not that he doesn't want to make MGS anymore, it's that he want's to make something else that's not only MGS.

Nothing artistic? Seriously? Wow... just wow. :slap

You said Peace Walker was a "masterpiece"... you obviously have been trolling from the beginning.

It's got to be the most ridiculous game of the series. Gameplay wise it's a true gem I'll give it that.

What's not to like? The characters are great, the plot is very engaging, the drawings by Ashley Wood are beautiful.

Damn. Did not know that.

I would certainly consider that a gun to the head.
