Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

That website is gold.

Still, the series is what it is. I mean in MGS2 you had another BB clone that was also the President and a ninja and Doctor Octopus. This series is far from high concept art.

If you ignore the sillyness of the character design and Raiden, MGS2 took breaking the 4th wall and the grand scheme of storytelling to a new level.

MGS2 gets a lot of hate solely for Raiden. It was Kojima immediately trying to push Snake out of the franchise.

Absolutely. And then took it even further in MGS4 with the metaphors of genome soldiers. One could even say that it was a bit prophetic as it came out before the Call of Duty craze.

But the stories have just gotten ridiculous. I'm just along for the ride at this point.

I do like concepts in MGS4 a lot, but covering plot holes with nanomachines was too damn lazy. I think I'm in the same boat as you, just seeing where this thing goes. I don't love the series much anymore.

Go watch the English version of DGN. It really brought me back to why I loved MGS in the first place. Man the script in this was just hilarious, not to mention getting most of the cast members back.

Liquid: Can't you see I'm busy?

Raven: Wolf is dead.

Liquid to : Great, that's just great! Metal Gear Rex can't launch, bloody Foxdie is hanging over our heads and my annoying evil twin is wreaking havoc all over the base!! :lol

:exactly: one of many reasons why its the weakest to me .

This has probably already been brought up. But what is the majority consensus of this forum: Are they pro-Hayter or pro-Keifer? Does it even matter?

Most of us are pro-Hayters :lol. Only the newbies (who haven't invested in the series) are the ones who don't seem to mind Kiefer Sutherland replacing David Hayter.

Makes sense. The newbs will never understand. Even if they do go back and play MGS1.

That's pretty much it. If someone didn't play the old MGS games, then they missed out on an entire decade of the franchise. They just wouldn't have the same type of emotional connection with the series or the characters, like those of us who have been playing the games years.

The same thing can be said for any series, too. Especially Resident Evil.

Yup, which is why you only see the same frequenters here in the MGS and RE forums. While I like both games, only the recent gamers and casual gamers are all pro-Assassin's Creed and The Last of Us.

I've been a Metal Gear Solid fan since the beginning - MGS1 and MGS3 remain to this day some of the finest games ever, but The Last of Us is quite possibly the best game this generation.

Loved the Last of Us, never finished the first Assassin's Creed because it was too damn repetitive. Then I hear AC3 sucked and that kind of put the franchise back further in my overdue queue.
