Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I didn't have time to watch the entire thing. Game play looks interesting, though. Kind of like GTA blending with some weird things I've seen before.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It's been uploaded on IGN. I missed the livestream so I'm gonna watch this in a few moments. (haven't watched it).

Two minutes into the video, and I'm thinking "wtf, how did Big Boss acquire Batman's Detective Mode?". That tech isn't supposed to exist, until decades later with MG Rising :rotfl. Sure beats Solid Snake's Soliton Radar.

Wha.. really? I'll be back in a few. Haven't watched it.

I like how you can see the glowing skeletons of enemies while they're behind walls. Also, the triangular status markers above their heads are reminiscent of Assassin's Creed. So is the way that Big Boss carries them over his shoulder.

It's the frikkin' Baaaat!

Just done watching it. Seems like games nowadays are spoiled by Batman's detective mode. The game looks amazing, but Snake barely shows anything new aside from the obvious GTA/Splinter Cell/Batman influence.

I think I'll wait for Eurogamer to upload a 60fps video since that's the framerate the game was running on TGS if I recall.

Yeah, judging from the game play, it looks like a mash-up of games that I've already seen. Plus, I don't really like the high-tech stuff that Kojima has been doing with Big Boss. He's a character that's supposed to rely on outdated Cold War equipment and survival instinct, rather than tech that shouldn't have even existed in the timeline.

I think I'm just along for the ride where this MGS V is concerned. Nothing from the video really "wows" and interests me, to be honest.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Not sure if ill be a fan of that tagging system... it takes away the thrill of anticipating movements/behaviors of the enemies on the other side of a wall

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Kojima should have quit this series and resigned while he was ahead. Now, he's just playing catch up with other developers, by incorporating mechanics that have already been used in other games. It's really sad to see MGS in the state that it's in right now.

It kinda defeats the purpose of doing prequels. The Detective Mode is way too advance for even perhaps MGS2, let alone a Big Boss game. Kojima went on record to say he was so careful to not contradict technology way back during the development of MGS3, but that concept has been ignored at this point.

It's funny how the E3 and TGS trailers both failed to hype me up being a hardcore MGS fan that I am. I'm not sure what kind of mid-mid life crisis I'm going trough with Metal Gear, but I hope it gets cured with, I dunno, Metal Gear Rising 2? :lol

Unfortunately, that echoes my sentiments exactly. Oh well, we all need to find some other giant franchises to fall back to.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think the good in that demo far outweighed the bad. I wasn’t expecting it to look similar the rest of the series gameplay, but it seems they found a way to mix the core mechanics into an open world setting.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I'm glad other people are excited for this, it'll make up for all my non-excitement for it

Doesn't even look like a MGS game anymore

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yeah me too.despite all the negative feed backs im still excited for this... dont care about the story too much anymore (I'm lying i still am) but im more like in for all that stealth action!

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I agree with all that Metal Assassins Bat Cell thing and plus I think the aiming system could be like on MGS4.
I'm also considering playing it in japanese with english subtitles.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Watched the footage I just don't care for this franchise like i use too.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Overall, I think it looks good but it's very VERY similar to Splinter cell which I'm playing (not saying that it's bad or anything). Not liking the slowmo at all.

So... Nothing wowing me either. Hope the story is decent and make sense.
