Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Hayter's not a Talented Actor but Kevin Conroy is? i don't recall any of the two acting in a movie as far as i know

It's irrelevant for these two people to have an on screen acting credits or not, both are known to be the voices of two popular characters and that's all that matters. For the record though..

Yes Kevin Conroy IS a Talented Actor, he was at Julliard at 17 and was famous for being a stage actor. He's all about acting and just that, and it's apparent when he talks about his past experience. Conroy doesn't intend to be a celebrity, and has expressed his dislike for people who are more known for their celebrity status than their acting.

As for Hayter, he mentioned that he indeed wanted to be a celebrity, but once he got known for playing Snake and he took the job of writing X-Men he pretty much gave up on being a big star.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

This reminds me I remember seeing David Hayter in Guyver: Dark Hero, I think I saw that before I ever played a MGS game. :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Personally, more Big Boss games aren't the thing I would've wished for under my christmas tree, but I think they're all right. I prefer Snake over Big Boss, and maybe even Raiden over Big Boss - but that's if, and really IF they actually manage to develop Raiden again.

MGR was cool, but I didn't feel a smidge of development in that game with Raiden as a person. Only him giving into his maniacal side. I hope that's fixed now they have more time and a better communication with the Kojima team to put out a sequel.

MGR2 is said to be planned and done with the Fox Engine, so that's something to look forward to, but I'd like some more room for actual stealthing while keeping it so that it's not mandatory, but viable and fun to do too. I mean.. his name has the word "Ninja" in it. xD

Anyway, enough digressing. I do like Big Boss a lot, but I do have to admit that he became a bit stale after MGS3. I really loved him in MGS3, but after that? Not so much. Still, I'm looking forward to playing him in Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. It looks really cool.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

This thread moves so fast....

Nobody has a real problem with the game, the graphics look really impressive but that's all the trailer shows. I have heard people talk about not being 'excited' by this new instalment and i'm the same.

What exactly are you all creaming your pants over? I'm up for giving every Metal Gear title a go but all this new MG has done is show you how good the fox engine is, nothing else. Myself and others here are basically saying once all the shinny new wrapping has been taken off, the foundations do not look that interesting.

The graphics are wild and the new fox engine obviously has a lot to show and they want to showcase it but to me that's all they are doing, and it's proven by just doing another Big Boss story, even if it's a 're-boot'

They could have easily re-booted MG1&2 and that would have been a breath of fresh air throughout the whole franchise. It would cater to both fans, the originals and the newbies, instead he tries to milk the BB saga a little bit more because of the type of fan he's trying to catering for

All we are saying is Big Boss is boring now and he didn't have to be. It's unnecessary and i find it funny some people want to say WE are the ones fan boying when in reality, if we were we would be all up in Big Boss.

When you've followed a series from the 90's then you obviously have a wider view of the series than somebody who came in late and probably doesn't even know the Solid story. It blows my mind there are still people who haven't played the original

And procrastinator you talk **** man, if every (true) game that came after MGS wasn't intended to be linear to the story, why does kojima reference the previous games in each one? MGS2 is basically a complete reference to MGS1

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The only thing I'm truly excited about is that the future MGS game might very well be a MG1 reboot.

Hopefully BB will turn to the dark side come the end of the phantom pain

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Wow, I really can't believe some of what I've read. @Snake Plissken, I've always somewhat respected your opinion on the games, figures, etc. despite the fact that you treat your opinion as fact, but not anymore (I doubt you care, just wanted it to be known that I'm not trolling). If you're that fed up with the series why not just walk away from it instead of insulting it, it's creator, and a large portion of it's fans? I do own two older COD games though so I'm probably part of the unintelligent rank and file that don't deserve to post on these boards (so clever calling it Call of "Dooty" btw...). For the most part I just read posts looking for information and keep my mouth shut, but it's just getting ridiculous. I'm not interested in getting into a flame war, just politely asking that you ease up on all the hateful asterisk filled posts that don't add anything to the discussion.

To anyone not turned off by the fact that I have played COD before (2008 and prior) I'm still hopeful that Hayter's run isn't over (twitter post could have been smoke and mirrors) and that we'll see Doyle take over as the voice of BB so that Hayter can eventually come in as Solid. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I'll never give up on hoping for Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 remakes, in which case it would be strange for BB and Solid to be voiced by the same guy.

:goodpost: :exactly:

Think of it this way, who would have thought that post MGS3, we would get not one, not two, but three prequels to the saga almost consecutively. It was a masterstroke in MGS3, but it becomes questionable by this point.

By the ending of MGS3, I was blown away by the idea of a noble soldier who eventually goes bad, it helps a lot in the emotional impact to have the player fill in the gaps himself. It could have ended there but it didn't.

Right now we feel like we're spoon fed, and I fail to see what purpose does MGSV's narrative has in order to supplement or enhance what that has been already exceptionally established in prior games.

Kojima has to be less vague and tell the fans what is he trying to acheive in terms of narrative, but instead fans got something even worse- the confusion regarding the actual name and releases of he title, and the exclusion of David Hayter. That is a bad way to get people excited about your product, no matter how good the payoff might be.

As smart and talented as Kojima is, he is not above not addressing the concerns of his loyal fans, or David Hayter himself. I don't hate the game or Kojima, hell no. I'm just saying that if certain issues regarding the creative decisions about MGSV are cleared up, many fans would have been at ease.

That's the thing though man, he hasn't given us the product yet, just a trailer. We won't know how the narrative will turn out until we've all beaten the game.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

dont be mad at plis, he was exploding because of perpetual insufferance. the other guy was a moron and had no tact and eventually **** hit the fan. hes alright. you dont have to dislike him. he knows whats up, these people come out of nowhere, we never see this person at all then he takes an enormous **** in the room and were not supposed to get mad. f that. people are allowed to get pissed off - that was his day.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Wow this is unfortunate. The one spot on the board MGS fans have and we have to bicker amongst ourselves.

News flash! Opinions are not fact. Don't assume yourself so important that you hold the answer to everything and what you say goes. And don't tell someone else how they can enjoy something or what they like is stupid. Disappointed in some of you guys.

I think everyone is allowed to voice their excitement or concerns, but do so in a politely manner. :)

Yeah I decided to stay out of this one. I just think besides all the changes this will still be a good game. But that's just my opinion, we'll see what happens after it's released

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

no i do too, all the incongruities in the franchise just make it easy to get pissed off or become dissatisfied. sometimes we jump the gun and get fooled like rising. it ended up being excellent after we *****ed about it. this was a whole different beaast. the guy was wrong about facts, not opinions. he kept insisting he was on top of things when he wasnt. i didnt like his first appearance in this thread. im looking foward to this game in a big way, just sad it wasnt more solid oriented. i think everyone is pretty excited about it. (minus the gripes)

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I just hope that PS3 and 360 owners realize they'll never get that kind of visual quality

I am curious to see what the current gen version will look like

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

im sure good old ray/SOLIDSNAKE will let us know! but consoles wont touch pc's capability. only the next gen consoles will come close.:dunno
