Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Also I find it slightly funny, that of all the supposed MGS FANATICS with all their Snake avatars and sigs, I seem to be one of the few people here, that are actually excited for what Kojima will bring us.

Yes, yes, you're a good little boy.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

And to Mogli's point.

We don't hate Big Boss at all, we just need a break from him. Snake should be thrown in there to break up the rut the franchise is in.

After playing MGR, I really enjoyed it but I don't take the game seriously in terms of the story being linked to the actual franchise. It also doesn't do anything to retcon the story. It's fresh and can go where it wants without and barriers really.

We just need to give Snake some more face time.

The common thing people say, especially on Facebook is that his story is over to shut up about him... is it really? How do we know? His military career goes back to the Gulf War. We could get MSX remakes, or a game that's between MGS1 and MGS2 or between MGS2 and MGS4.

If a game like MPO and PW can be given a green light, why not that?
Oh, I didn't know that's what people were saying about Snake on Facebook, and that's what you guys were referring to. Sorry, I think I overreacted with that post I made. :lol :slap Thanks for filling me in, I wouldn't get that polite a response anywhere else on the internet! ;)

I completely agree with you then, and it would be a dream come true to play as Snake again. I'd never say Snake isn't worth bringing back, I've created endless stories in my head about what a new game with him could involve. :lol But I still think any new MGS game is worth getting excited about, no matter who it stars, I've watched that new trailer a million times! :D But I understand more now why everyone here is frustrated, hopefully Kojima realizes that as well (although I'm not sure how much control he has over the series now).

I don't know why Kojima stopped using him, so your guess is as good as mine (I've been reading the theories posted here), but any of those timelines you suggest would be great to see in a game, and remakes of the MSX games would be incredible! I'd even take another game starring Old Snake! :lol

Yeah, those Facebook comments can give a headache. There are a lot of new "fans" who were just recently introduced to the series - either though Peace Walker or the HD Collection. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just that many of them don't seem to appreciate the games (with Solid Snake) as those who have been following the series for years.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Ugh wow, it's one thing to not care about Snake, but trash talking him and those who like him...it all reminds me why I try to keep away from forums that discuss this stuff. The game section here is mostly not like that, so I enjoy checking these threads out. :)

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Well, it's a shame Hayter is out, but if the replacement is good I can accept it. We just have to move past nostalgia, there is nothing else we can do at this point. Kojima is maverick and will do what he wants and nothing else.

I agree Solidus. It's a shame, but the reality of it is, most of us here are of the 90s generation, some even the 80s. We've been with Solid Snake since the beginning, or at least since 1998. Video games are great, but the experience isn't the same as it used to be. So while these punks are spouting off their b/s, I know that they'll never have the gaming experience I did. We were around for things when they were NEW and UNIQUE. You kids like Big Boss? Me too, but he's not a patch on Solid Snake. Have fun with him until Kojima gets bored of him too. Then you can !*&$ it.

Who is trash talking Snake and those whe don't like him?

I got the impression that's what was going on in Facebook I mean. Now that you point it out though, that might be an incorrect assumption on my part lol, once again. :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Trailer was good but my excited level dropped when hayter wasn't involved.

Yeah, but then again how much of it is just nostalgia or pure sentiment? I also happen to like Snake more than Big Boss (though only slightly), but that's mainly couse its the character I grew up with. If someone asked me which character I though to objectively be more interesting, I think I would have to say Big Boss. His life was more eventfull and full of awesome stories and themes. Plus, his story arc is not yet finished. There are still important things to be said about Naked Snake.

It's true that there are some stories about Solid that could be told as well (his youth in the army, his cooperation with Liquid during the gulf war, for example), but I don't really think its a sequel material. Its not as weighty and meaty as Big Bosses final chapter. Which is why I am happy (or at least not dissapointed) that we get one last outing with the Boss.

Also the timeline of V suggests we might actually get a glimpse of Snake as a boy, or a young man during training. I would love to see that.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

it'll take time to get use to the new Voice of Snake..

Hayter not Voicing Snake is like Kevin Conroy not Voicing Batman in a Batman Arkham Game ..

Hayter's not a Talented Actor but Kevin Conroy is? i don't recall any of the two acting in a movie as far as i know

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

There's one problem with what You just wrote. You used specific names as examples of voice changes. Sure Ben Affleck would be ridiculous as Vader. But we have no idea, how the new Snake will sound and what he will bring to the table. So drawing such analogies is beside the point.

Nobody here argued against it.

The point is Hayter is Snaaaakes. Yes we have no idea how the new Snake will sound but I do know he will not be Hayter. He could be the best voice actor in the world but guess what...he wont be Hayter. You might be fine and dandy about a new voice actor but I sure as **** aint. And yes people have argued aginst it just take a look around.

I just remembered, it's rumored that Kojima is a big Twilight fan:

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!:lol

You do realize that posting such stuff all the time, without actually giving any arguments, is kinda working against You?

:lol thats rich. So some of us fans are voicing concerns and opinions on things. That makes us less excited than you? I'm 10,000 x more pumped than you are. Diamond Dogs for life!

Go back a few pages in this thread. Nothing but negativity, whining and calling Kojima an ******* and an idiot. Voicing conern over the lack of Hayter is one thing, saying that people are wishing for the game to fail, so that Kojima will get his head out of his ***, saying that Kojima is totally ruining the series (without really knowng much about he has in store), that he is a fool and MGS1 and 2 were both flukes, thats a whole other thing.

I know they are and I am arguing with them...

Yes, but is Big Boss interesting now because of the games and the history that Kojima has created post MGS2? I think Solid Snake has been treated with a lack of care since MGS2. MGS4 should have been different I think. Heck, MGS2 probably should have been different. I'm not saying they aren't good games, but they took Solid down a path that doomed him more than one way. Instead of opening up his future to interesting experiences, Kojima took the easy way out I think. It's still interesting but I don't think those games service Solid Snake as a character. This is just my opinion, I'm sure a lot of people feel differently. But from my perspective Kojima doesn't care for Solid Snake anymore and therefore has put more effort into Big Boss. He's pushed Big Boss into the spotlight and more him more interesting. He wasn't before. Did you really grab onto Boss and his history in the games prior to MGS3? I know I didn't. What I'm saying is Solid Snake could have been equally as interesting if Kojima hadn't effectively written him out of the picture and changed his focus to Big Boss. Kojima moved on. I think it's a testament to Solid Snake that Big Boss is so popular. Kojima basically took the same character, changed a few things, and people ate it up. Solid Snake and Big Boss are VERY similar. I can't understand how people can dislike Snake Solid and love Big Boss, it's essentially two sides of the same coin. Who you like the most is really just down to taste.

Who you like the most is really just down to taste.

Apparently not to some pharisaic self-entitled little brats here :monkey1 ...To them, the way they wanted the story to develop was the imperative and only way it should have developed and anyone who disagrees with them is of questionable intelligence, yes, as sad and buffoonish as it sounds, this was said by them.

Like I said, retardation at it's finest, it's not worth the time to get tangled with those angry and weeping meandering little dorks :dunno

Personally I like Solid a little better than Big Boss, but by no means I'm against telling Big Boss' story since there's more to tell about him than about Solid Snake.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Not according to the average idiotic Call of Dooty esk Big Boss fans. They just swallow whatever comes out of Kojima's ***.

I truly despise Kojima what he's done to this great series. I think I'm out worrying about what's been done to the series, he doesn't give a **** so why should I?

Never going to happen at this point. It's not about the fans anymore, it's more about catering to the typical action no brain gamers.

All these backstory prequels are not needed. And we don't need FOUR in a ****ing row.

If you want to know the intelligence of the average MGS gamer, read Facebook comments.

Alright, it's getting a little offensive now. I am enjoying the Big Boss story arc, and I am certainly not just some COD fan nor am I an idiot. I don't just "swallow" whatever comes out of Kojima's whatever. It's called an opinion. While I don't agree with an ounce of what you've said thus far regarding the Big Boss character, I have respected your right in voicing your opinions on the matter. I draw the line when I am insulted for having a difference of opinion.

I realize your statements have not been directed at me specifically, but it's difficult to ignore your comments when I can see I am placed in insulting stereotypes for disagreeing with you. You don't like where Kojima is taking the series, we get it. No need to bash our skulls with it.

In case anyone is wondering, I've played each MGS when they were released (except PW, never owned a PSP). Been a MGS fan since day one.
