Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

In the comics, Batman and the Martian Manhunter stood in for Clark several times, and everyone KNOWS Clark looks like Supes, it's just unacceptable if he's really Superman.

Remember in Arkham City how Bruce Wayne, not Batman, beat up Penguin and his men? Why didn't Penguin suspect Wayne is Batman? Because it's like expecting Paris Hilton is actually Wonder Woman.

I don't know why they didn't a similar route in MOS, it would have stayed in tradition and made the romance between Clark and Lois much better.

The romance was one of my other qualms with the movie. As a whole MOS just didn’t work for me. But I have faith the sequel will be good.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

No they're not. That was the one major complaint about Nolan's rendition of Batman. It was too entrenched in realism, that it completely abandoned many of the redeeming qualities from the comics which made Batman so great. I appreciate the Animated series and the Arkham games significantly more than the stuff from Nolanverse.

The one realistic thing about Metropolis and Gotham, is that they look like metropolitan cities that you could live in. Aside from that, it's all just a fantasy. And with that said, I think Clark Kent's glasses are just too iconic to just cast aside for the sake of creating a more "realistic" version Superman.

I do agree, though, MOS could have been done a lot better.

:lecture :exactly: :goodpost:
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Exactly, even if Clark stood in front of a crowd and scream I'M SUPERMAN! LOOK AT ME, I LOOK JUST LIKE HIM... Everybody would just laugh at him

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Holly **** I never stopped to listen to the score, that is beautiful.

Well they can't sell it because they just introduced Clark as a reporter for 2 seconds :lol, we'll have to wait.

I don't think they need to sell it, haven't you even encountered someone who looks like someone else you know and have to double check twice to see if it's really him/her? Imagine that happening to with a celebrity walking down the street, now, with Superman, no-one, and I mean, no-one is going to believe he's walking around among us looking like a dork, that idea isn't outdated one bit.

Yea I said, I won’t judge until the sequel. A celebrity, especially one as big as Superman, I can’t see that happening. Maybe the sequel can make me a believer.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I loved the realism in BB, I don't think that was a problem with the Nolan trilogy at all.

And yes, the romance between Clark and Lois is, like Plissken says: "vomit inducing", even to me, and I love that movie.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I have to go for the night. But, I like how this is once again a Batman thread (with Superman as well). You guys have made me proud. :lol :rock

That's a Superman that I don't want to see.

Thats fair, different strokes for different folks I guess. I always appreciated the risk he took in creating his own Batman universe. I guess I expected MOS to be similar but it just seemed unsure of what kind of movie it wanted to be. I’ll admit I am more of a marvel comics guy (Not the movie universe) but I have read and watched a fair amount of Batman and Superman throughout my years.

Yea, I didn’t think it was a terrible film, just underwhelming. It was certainly better than Iron Man 3, but I thought the Wolverine was slightly better this past summer.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Bale was a terrible Batman. The only good thing to come from his rendition, is the parodies.

I was planning to post that one earlier but forgot the link :lol.

..and best thing to come out of the Bale Bats is the CollegeHumor "Badman" series. There are several episodes now and the guy playing Bats gives Bale a run for his money. Simply amazing.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I don't know if I even have a Best Batman, I just like certain versions of him more.

:rotfl

Yeah apparently it was the entire episode about console wars. Guess I'll have to watch this episode.

Kind of surprised they mentioned Metal Gear Solid though.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I know, I have to watch it too.

Although it kinda looks like the game they're gonna release, not so much as the show, the stuck of truth I think, which looks so ****ing fun.

Huge fan of South Park, although the new seasons have been a hit or miss.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I watched that episode last night. It's so awesome that they're mixing parodies of Game of Thrones and the console war :lol. In addition to MGS, that was probably the best episode of South Park I ever saw.
