Frank could just be his best soldier, or protege. While ocelot is the second on command after he falls out with Kaz. I just hope to lord Kojima that franks origin is retconned to ignore the atrocity that was PortableOps

I have hopes for some good retcons out of this game. For one thing, Big Boss needs to be evil, and not the misunderstood hero that he was at the end of MGS 4.

But, I didn't really mind the "Null" thing, to tell you the truth (as corny as it was) :lol. I just found it strange that Fox wasn't in Peace Walker at all - considering that he was rescued by Big Boss. They should have held off his appearance for another game, instead of introducing him like that in Portable Ops. But, since Portable Ops was meant to tie-in with MGS 4 - I don't think KojiPro anticipated that the series would continue for this long.

most confusing Sh** ever .. and i still don't understand even though some people answered my questions .. it still leaves me puzzled ..

lots of people here see Solid Snake as a hero, while i see him as a Tool .. he stopped those who were trying to stop the Patriots "the Bigger Evil" like Ocelot, Solidus, Big Boss

Well we still don't have the full picture yet. I really don't think Kojima would crap on SolidSnakes character like that

.../QUOTE]

Kojima confirmed this is the BigBoss goes bad story where he'll finally turn. He says the change will be akin to Walter White in breaking bad, where you'll understand his point of view. I really really hope this lives to expectations.

In Null, the stupidest thing is that he was already a manipulated ninja soldier. It just cheapened his character

I think thats why some of the members here are upset though, they don’t like that Big Boss went from being the bad guy of the franchise, to the misunderstood hero, making Solid nothing more than a tool used by the patriots. By the end of MGS4 though, I wouldn’t say Solid is a tool, he pretty much reclaims the hero status he once had, and Big Boss pretty much tells him that he was the better soldier.

I think Kojima picks and chooses whats canon from MGS PO, I’m hoping the whole Null thing wasn’t canon and we get a proper introduction to Frank.

...

As long as this game can effectively retcon some of the nonsensical things from MGS 4, then I'll be happy. I'm under the impression that Big Mamma and Ocelot were probably lying to Snake about Big Boss, since they were already using him like a puppet, for a highly orchestrated plan to stop The Patriots. I really do want Solid Snake to be redeemed from all of this.

But, that's a neat take on Fox :clap. Makes a lot of sense that he should have been free, up until his capture by the Patriots.

IMDB just listed Jason Cottle as the voice of a character named David. Of course IMDB is not a trustworthy source, but this really came out of nowhere, and Cottle would be a perfect replacement for a younger Solid Snake.

Someone from MGSforums posted this

Sounds almost perfect to me, I thought he was awesome as Cole in Infamous.

The bigger evil was always the Patriots imho, no doubt about that.. anyway .. **** happens. If you are a soldier you may think you are doing something good, but you might be working for the wrong people or for the wrong cause in the long run, just like Snake.

The voice of David is not bad, damn I really want Eva to be in this game... :lol

Yeah, The Patriots represented the ultimate form of enslavement over the human body and mind. It was something even far worse than Nazism, Socialism, Communism, Juche, etc, because people were oblivious that their democratic freedoms were all just an illusion. And it was something far more devious than just the typical Orwellian government. Even Solid Snake - who tried to live his life on the fringe of established control, was always being used as their pawn.

:exactly:

But I think there are two different kind of patriots, the patriots from MGS2, that are not THAT bad they just represent the system is not that different from our government.

And the MGS4 patriots (the ones you are talking about I believe) the stupid AIs that are leading the world to oblivion :lol

I prefer the MGS2 Patriots, you could even say some organizations and people behave just like them, it happens all the time and we dont even know it. Solidus, Big Boss, Liquid.. they all wanted to be physically free. I like how Snake frees himself and others from the grip of the Patriots on a personal level, by passing on his memes.

He created an Outer Heaven for the mind, of course Raiden and the fans couldn't understand him and thats why we have MGS4 (I still like MGS4 btw :lol)

This freakin', freakin' bastard! You egotistical nerd, Greg Miller. Ryan was not kidding at all :slap. This guy just had to shoe-horn himself in at the end of the Kojima interview. You are not on Kojima's popularity level, you ****ing sack of wine. No MGS fan in their right mind takes this guy seriously.

You're definitely right that something was lost in translation between MGS 2 and 4. I would have preferred if The Patriots were flesh and blood human beings, and not a series of AI satellites in space :slap. That was just corny.

I hate that guy with a capital **** him

He has to be the most insufferable personality in gaming news.

I actually like Gred Miller, seems like a nice guy to me.

I honestly would like to see something on Gray fox, a little more info on how he came to be and everything. Stuff like Null isn't too shabby.

Now that I think about it, there are far too many similarities between Raiden's backstory and Fox's. Both were child soldiers at one point in time, both were experimented on by The Patriots, and both became cyborg ninjas. There needs to be something to truly differentiate him from Raiden in MGS V. But, it'll be funny if Quinton Flynn shows up as Fox's voice actor :lol :pow.

I mean, I say I made you, you've gotta say you made me ... how childish can you get? You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you? Huh!?

Yeah, the Null introduction was obviously a tie in to MGS4, they probably wouldn't have written him in if they knew the series is running this long.

One one is prettier.. :monkey3

I think the main differences between Fox and Raiden is that Fox is more of a straight up soldier, not unlike like Big Boss. Raiden on the other hand, wanted to break free just like Solid Snake, both of them wanted to retire as soon as they could.

I'd make an exception :slap. I am literally without words. Greg has the honor of interviewing (arguably) the greatest video game director for our time on his show, and he tries to make the conversation about him and his "popularity" in the end. Typical B.S. from ol' attention-starved Greg.

It's so weird how every main character needs their own antithesis character in this series.

NO INTERVIEWER SHOULD DRAW ATTENTION TO HIMSELF. It's wasting precious airtime and disgustingly unprofessional.

Huh, I've never realized that, great observation! :lol
