Question: just got to the main ops mission where you have to take out the colonel and his tanks and it recommends a missile launcher but I don't have enough r&d to develop one.

I stealthed it to the Intel and the tanks were coming and thought I would c4 them en route but that didn't work.

Do I have to do other missions and side ops before I can develop my r & d enough?

Long term MGS fan and loving the game so much but the menus and scope of mother base and the options is overwhelming me.

Thanks.

Yea, doing a bunch of side ops then fultoning soldiers back to motherbase will build your base fast. I can't remember that mission though, so I don't know if I found one or already had it developed.

I'm free on weekends so I actually stayed home the whole weekend to beat the story, which really messed up my gameplay experience a bit, because I rushed or skipped over some important stuff.

By the way, make sure in side ops you rescue the legendary gunsmith, it'll enable yo to customize you weapons like MGS4. I played the entire story before I did that :slap

Thanks!I pretty much just use the tranq hand gun, the smoke grenades, and the tranq sniper like the previous games. It's kind of cool how you can miss things like that. I got Quiet before I got D-Dog, and apparently, we could get him far earlier in the game.

So have you been playing more guns-blazing? I'm going for a non-lethal playthrough, so I'm using the bare-minimum of weapons as possible.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Just beat the game and holy crap, this game just went back to being GOTY for me.

Just a heads up, after mission 31 the game is going to put older missions you've completed but on harder difficulty under your main missions tab, I thought you had to do them to progress the story which really killed the pacing for me, you don't have to, after a certain amount of time the missions will pop up and you can continue the story. I could have been doing side missions until then :slap

The ending gave me a whole new perspective on the entire story. I actually can't wait to replay the story now.

I've just reached that point, and I'm seeing repeat missions. What do you mean by missions will pop up? Can I avoid the repeat fluff and just wait in the chopper or something?

@Cap'n Cook Have you asked for support? You can just ask them to keep sending you c4 and take the tanks out that way. I actually haven't done any side-ops (except the one you have to do to progress through the story), and have all my Mother Base facilities. I don't kill anyone, and fulton everyone I see to Motherbase, so maybe that's why.

Those repeat missions aren't necessary to do, just do s few side ops and it should pop up, but I did read you have to do something to unlock mission 46, I have no clue what it is but it unlocked for me

I don't have a missilie Launcher yet either because you have to capture a specialist to develop the Honey Bee.You will do just fine with an RPG in the mission you're talking about if you have reached the required R&D level to develop one.Takes 3 or 4 shots on each tank to take them out.
You have upgraded your Binoculars that can analyse the soldiers you mark?Helps alot to avoid wasting your time with E and D leveled soldiers.

Yeh but the 4 I planted didn't take any of the three tanks out sufficiently and the disruption got me spotted.

Thanks mate. :duff

I needed up aborting the mission as was frustrated. Stealthier my way around the whole village tagging everyone and was perfect. Planted my c4 along the tanks route but nada. Will try again now.

Cheers for the tips guys. Loving this game. Bring on the nendoroid big boss and hopefully HT come through and announce theirs. Wished it was like the old days when HT dropped all those RE4 figures at once at a con. Imagine if they showed 4-5 TPP figures at once.

Just hope they at least do a big boss. Can picture it.

You can use Mines, but i think that requires a higher level R&D than the RPG so RPG is the one you should go for so early in the game.Make sure you upgrade your Binoculars that can analyze the soldiers, youll see what level they are and makes things alot easier to find the recruits you're looking for.

Thanks! I hope the story pick up as well, as I was literally laughing out loud on how silly and campy the writing is so far. Thong wearing Skull Unit and sermons about REVENGE™.

That would be the first Hot Toys I buy. I want to contact them to show that there's a lot of interest, but that probably won't do anything. I'd buy a Big Boss and a Diamond Dog (I don't know if Hot Toys does animals).

Really? I think most of the writing is probably the best in the series, I have more of a problem with some of the direction, and how some of the story is being told, I felt some of the stuff on the cassettes should have been in cutscenes.

Read somewhere that you can drop a supply drop on someone's head. Tried it out. Works like a charm. :lol

I laughed pretty hard the first time i found out about it when the Supply box knocked out D-Horse.
Some cool moments in this game.Ocelot gave me a hard time when i hadn't taken a shower for 4 or 5 missions :lol

I used mines to take them out. BUT in hindsight i should of ran up the road about another 60 seconds longer and found the truck with rockets on.
