You are building Motherbase, so you have to extract your men, plantation, animals, trucks, tanks, weapons, etc. Everthing becomes much more lively, and you'll watch the men converse among eachother.
My motherbase is complete, im constantly having to kick people out because i have no room and sell my resources because i cant accept any new rewards for doing missions. I still feel like the only man in the world when im on it.

I think you brought this up before, but yeah, that would explain the unremarkable music. Even from trailers and previews, it just seemed generic.

What I brought up was mostly Ludvig Forssell. My previous assumptions was that Harry Gregson-Williams was to be on board composing the cutscene music like he does every time, but looking at the credits he's not involved. He's just the producer.

Williams composed (most) of the cutscenes for MGS2, 3 and 4. He also composed GZ if I recall.

So the bear that I tranquilized and Fultoned up to mother base was a legendary bear? Was that the only bear in the whole entire game?

Theres a bunch of bears. Sometimes together! I took like 3 of them down in 1 go. Sent them to my bear house on motherbase.

Also, 115 hours in. Thought i was done. New cut scenes happened. Now i think i have a new mission to do..

Guys I have a problem. Snake is fully bloody and I can't wash it off. No matter how many showers I take. I tried switching outfits but the blood just carries over. My face is completly drenched in blood and my full body is too. Even when a cutscenes triggered and ocelot said "snake you stink" and threw water on me I still was bloody. Nothing I'm doing is working, Anyone have any ideas?

It's okay, it's on the inside.

Sounds like a Bug.
Ive got quite an annoying problem too.In Mission 10 the extra prisoners, one of them being a specialist i really need to upgrade something, gets killed within 2 minutes or so after i start the mission.Do i really have to sprint into the base guns blazing to make sure i make it in time?

Sounds like a bug. BUT there was a prolonged period of time where i didnt change outfit, or shower and one time i returned to mother base and it initiated a cut scene where my crew were saying i stunk and Ocelot give me a wash. That may happen to you.

Just figured it out. I'm "demon snake". My shrapnel Horn has gotten huge as well. I need to get my heroism up over 100,000. I have 51,000 heroism right now.

I have to say, the level design in this feels pretty linear, considering that there's hardly anything to do in the "sandbox" aside from run-of-the-mill base missions within confined mission parameters. It reminds me of Far Cry 3, but with a lot less freedom. It's a shame that there aren't any towns and cities to explore or locals to interact with. Even Mother Base seems pretty barren, as there's hardly any soldiers walking around and most of the buildings are just closed off. No side activities worth mentioning, except for target practice. I'm 13% finished and all I'm seeing are missed opportunities. Big Boss' silence is pretty annoying, too.

The gameplay is definitely what I'd expect from MGS, though.

The level design is not linear at all though imo, if you mean the interaction with the open world, then yeah I guess but you still have a couple of arrival methods there, but the level design is certainly no linear, there are a hundred ways to tackle a mission with any kind of tools, that's not linear :lol

As for no NPCs, well, it's Afghanistan in times of war, I don't expect merchants and civilians walking around with side ops of "find my missing *whatever*", much less if there's gonna be secret giant robots and virulent super human soldiers hanging around, it wouldn't make any sense imo, I've noticed that every base you visit is very well designed, offering just enough cover and just enough risk.

As for Mother Base, It's exactly what I expected, it's just like the Batcave in Arkham Origins, what counts is the management aspect, I bet someone thought "hey, it would be cool if you could walk around Motherbase" so they did it.

Wow, I can't believe this. I think I know why the music sucks- it's because nobody from the previous games worked on this. Harry Gregson-Williams was only the music producer, hence he didn't provided any tracks to the cutscenes like previous games. The rest of the music is composed by Ludvig Forssell & Justin Burnett, both without any credits to their belt.

I don't know how the game will turn out, but one thing's for sure is that the music is unremarkable for a Metal Gear game. It makes up for that in (awesome) 80's pop songs, but as far as original compositions go, this game has nothing good. Gone are the days I listen to lossless Metal Gear music while driving to work. :(

I'm listening to the soundtrack right now, and it's true music is less of a fanfare than previous ones, it's much more situational, reminds me a bit of Gravity's soundtrack in the way that it's composed, it's not all that great if you listen to it by itself, but listening within the game's situations it's supposed to be listened to, it's great, it has probably some of the best cinematic compositions I've heard in a game, it has an 80's flavor, there aren't any individual youtube videos but my favorite songs so far are:

-Parasites
-Kept you waiting huh?
-Hal's child unchained
-Code talker

It's weird, the one I downloaded lists almost the entirety of the 1st CD as Gregson-Williams', it's the one I've listened to and it's really nothing to sneeze at, though not the best MGS soundtrack either, by faaar, I haven't listened to CD2 though, which is listed mostly as Forssel's.

I haven't listened to everything yet so I don't have a firm opinion.

been playing a good chunk of the day, i think this game is pretty great. i made it past the part where you 1st meet skullface. the game play is really fun to me and makes me forget about the slow story progression. i agree that the game is not so linear because there is always an alternate route you can take to avoid danger. in fact, if i wanted to never get into a fight and get by anyone i could. the game wouldnt be that fun though. motherbase is really nice looking but i agree its very desolate feeling.

Yeah, I was mostly referring to the Sandbox outside of the base missions. There's absolutely nothing to do outside of these missions, aside from capturing animals and gathering plants. Afghanistan had many tribal cultures living in their cities and towns, that were fighting against the Soviets and sending them back to Mother Russia in body bags. The game just doesn't show that. I had one mission where I was supposed to "help out" the rebels by destroying a convoy of armed vehicles, and guess what? There wasn't a rebel in sight. Wouldn't it be cool if you were actually fighting with them sometime, rescuing town's people and carrying them back home, etc?

I keep comparing the game to Witcher 3's sandbox, and for good reason. In Witcher, you've got several kingdoms at war with, genocide, and people getting hung on trees in each town. But, it shows a lively world where people are still trying to carry with their lives. Having NPCs in an open-world game isn't something trivial, it serves as an important backdrop and aids in the overall realism of the experience. With MGS V, all I'm seeing are big open roads, mountains, sparse animals and enemy bases and checkpoints in-between. Aside from the base missions, there's nothing that makes me want to go and explore the world in this game. There's an option in side-ops for "free roam", but I just don't see the point in that. This game is basically just Peace Walker, but on a much larger scale.

As for Mother Base, wouldn't it be much cooler if you could actually go into the buildings, or use those mini-subs on the side of your supply base for some under-sea exploration? I've also got close to 200 soldiers recruited, but I just see several guys walking around at a given time. It's eerie how Mother Base looks like a ghost town...

The gameplay is solid, the base missions are incredible, it's like poetry. But, the open-world outside of this, needed a lot more polishing. I've made it to Africa now, and aside from the terrain looking different, it's the same formula as Afghanistan (checkpoints, base missions, animals, etc.)

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

I honestly think because this game was built from the ground up, with a whole new engine which probably took most of the time and resources to produce, that all of those little details that would have made the game even better couldn't make it in. Also with the rumors of Konami firing Kojima due to the budget of the game, and how long he was taking to make it, there was just no way Kojima could have possibly fit all that into this game. This game is much more similar to Arkham Knight, a big open dead world filled only with enemies, except it gives you true freedom in how you want to take enemies out of complete missions. Some missions can even be beat before you arrive there which leads to a funny radio call.

When Kojima was creating this game, I honestly feel he had MGS6 in mind, but with this whole Konami situation I don't know what's going to happen. Hopefully they can patch things up because I'd love to see MGS6 with this kind of gameplay, better balance on gameplay and story, and a ton of Easter eggs and detail set into the world.
