I read that article, it doesn’t take into account the all the copes Ground Zeroes has sold (part of the budget), and digital sales aren’t included. If this games hasn’t broke even yet, it will like next month

The sales for Ground Zeroes weren't spectacular, and as a pre-release to MGS V, it was used to recoup funds that were currently being used in development in 2014. It was also offered for free on PS Plus a few months ago.
Besides, game sales tend to decline drastically after a strong launch and after all the marketing hype and trailers have faded away. So, I highly doubt that this game will be able to keep up with with the sales in the long run (or double its sales by next month). Also, AC Syndicate gets released in October, and then there's Fallout 4 and COD in November. People will be looking for the next new thing to grab their attention.
I know that COD gets a lot of flack, but now that I'm close to the end, I can honestly say that both Modern Warfare (1 to 3) and COD Black Ops have a WAY more compelling story than this drivel. I don't know how to describe it. The story for MGS V is focused way too much on odd things, while not giving enough attention to more important things that get blatantly ignored. I made it past a certain scene last night that was definitely, "Grrrr revenge! We're getting our revenge! We got our revenge!! But we need more revenge!!", and was so unsatisfying, because of the lack of story and the lack of focus on certain characters. The revenge spiel also needs to die already... it's getting old.
I might be jumping the gun by saying this, but judging from what you guys have been saying, I'm not holding out hope on the ending to save this narrative.
Ocelot, who's been such a cornerstone of the series... comes across as a human iDroid. He just matter of fact states the obvious, and has one emoticon for emotion. He's so disconnected from every other Ocelot in the series.
As for you on the ending, I kinda get the feeling you might hate it more than both me and Ryan combined
Gametrailers right spot on, that you can remove this from the series and it really doesn't change anything whatsoever. It gives a twist to MG1, but like... who honestly cares? It doesn't really impact it any differently. It kinda fills in a meaningless plot hole that honestly, I never even put one iota of thought into.
What the hell were they working on for the last 2 years of this game? I just watched a trailer from 2013 which had clips of all the cut scenes from the final game... AND MORE. We were told we were going back to camp omega, theres cut scenes years ago from that mission. We see the gameplay and locations years ago too. The final mission of the game was cut.
Did they sit on their hands for the last few years with an incomplete game and then decide to release it?

Well, that's not surprising, we've been calling it out for a few years now. I know in the case with PW - you could remove it completely from the MGS timeline and it'll have no effect on the canon, whatsoever. I'm more interested in how MGS V progresses the story even though it's prequel. But, I haven't been satisfied with it as yet...

Good question. I think Kojima must've spent way too much time on the Fox engine, and the technical aspects of the game, while neglecting everything else. Funny, how the FOX engine costed millions and ended up looking cross-generational. If there's one game right now that doesn't look current gen, it's MGS V.
I just finished the game, and I agree with pturtle about the cassette tapes. Unfortunately, the story-telling was dampered a bit for me from the Skullface episode on-wards. Many of the cassettes should have been cut scenes, since the audio is tuned out by others talking or cut off while in a mission. Plus they aren't much of an incentive to listen to when you're having to go back and forth to that menu in the middle of being timed to get a good rank. Cassettes should help build background for fans, and not have vital story points. I had to listen to them while doing nothing, which defeats the purpose of them. I love the cassettes, but that's just my complaint.
Having said that, I love the game, but Metal Gear Solid 3 is still my favorite game. I think I'd rank them MGS3, MGS, and MGSV for my top 3 favorite games of all time. They're very different games, so it's tough to compare.
MGS3- Favorite melding of story and gameplay, favorite boss battle line-up, and favorite character piece in a video game (MGS still has a better overall cast, but I like the relationship between Big Boss, The Boss, Eva, and Ocelot the best).
MGS- Favorite plot, music, and atmosphere in a video game. While I need story to be invested in a game, deeper gameplay mechanics help me get into a game more, and this game had one of the weakest of the series. They aren't bad, but when I play it, I only play segments of the game and end up watching parts of the youtube movie cuts with the gameplay segements I'm not fond of. I didn't want to write anything negative, but I guess I had to if anyone was confused why I didn't rank it above my 1.
MGSV- The most enjoyable gameplay experience that I had in my life. I mentioned the Souls games being my previous favorite, but it's not even close to how much I enjoyed MGSV.) I want to rank it higher, but I have too many story issues to do so (Not that MGS3's story was by any means perfect). Plus it didn't have any emotional highs of MGS3 and MGS.
Alright, spoiler time:
I thought that Ishmael was Big Boss from his voice, but I got confused when our Phantom changed Kiefer's voice after the prologue (Is there an explanation for that). That hallway scene in the trailer showed that this was Big Boss' transition from MGS3 and Peace Walker, so I figured there would be a clever twist to say we were the real Big Boss. I saw that we could still edit our avatar, so I knew something was still fishy.
However, during the Episode 30 and on wards, I wasn't feeling that Venom Snake was Big Boss, and that avatar part came back to me. Then, after hearing Ocelot say that Liquid was not our clone, I knew it couldn't be Big Boss, and I was glad. I didn't like Ocelot ordering Big Boss around, so I was happy with the twist. I would understand if Ocelot needed to help him out in the beginning, but Big Boss should have been pulling the strings. Thankfully, he was!
I love that a phantom was Big Boss in the original MG game, and I love how the legend has gotten so much bigger than the man now. This made me reconcile with how Big Boss' followers in MGS4 became cult-like with their worship of him. This game made me like MGS and MGS4 even more! My one big complaint is that I think the game should have focused more on Liquid, since we aren't playing as a established character. There's more problems with the story, but I'd rather focus on the positives right now.
