I would prefer the wall knock return, but everything else literally isn’t necessary, they won’t enhance the gameplay in anyway.

Yeah that too, but also the other 2, those features were fun, and this game is already super fun, more fun couldn't possibly hurt.

In fact, I don't remember actively using the box in any of the previous games, maybe in ghost babel where they force you to use 3 different boxes for a while :lol but nonetheless it's a fun feature to have.

Rations have been replaced in purpose, with a magic spray, which for all intends is more realistic than food healing you instantly :lol but rations could still be there as a mean to regain health but slower.

My point being I guess, the whole game doesn't need to be ALL dark and ultra realistic, sure it will reach rough moments, but there needs to be some levity along the way.

Actually yea, rations would have been pretty good, better than the spray at least. The box is most likely returning in some form in TPP, but I really don’t care about it, like you, I rarely ever used it.

No I meant the spray is ok, but it doesn't need to replace the rations altogether, there's still room for them.

If Kojima was aiming for realism, I think a better choice would have been to make you find cover or a safe spot and make an animation where BB somehow patches himself up, and maybe that will affect your movement somehow, that would have been real cool for harder difficulties.

I was thinking the same, it would have made going Rambo that much harder.

Ishmael is BB subconscious.

:exactly:

I'm sure Mantis is trying to lure him out of the hospital or something, then Ocelot saves him

Something like that could be in TPP

Was just watching the first 5 minute trailer we got for TPP, and found it weird how many scenes didn’t make it in to GZ.

This scene here, with Big Boss looking out the chopper got me thinking that he won’t go into the coma due to the Helicopter crash.

Also every time you beat the game, Big Boss is in the main menu, with the same amount of damage on his face. I can’t seem to find a picture of it. Either a few scenes got removed, or Kojima saved what really happened to Big Boss for TPP.

Shame, I liked the scene of him near crying on the helicopter, so if it was cut out, that was a bad move.

I for one actually miss the insanely long cutscenes from MGS3/MGS4, this especially should have had them considering the games length.

I really dont see how motherbase's destruction was not done as a mission, how and why would you not make it playable?

And yeah, the fact Ishmael gets blown back from the firey Vulgin seems to show that he isn't real. So really, Big Boss has been traumatised by the things he'd seen in Ground Zeroes and has developed a Tyler Durden-esque alter ego to pick him up from where he's gotten to, I think it will be Ishmael that leads him into his dark self and makes the person he is in MG/MG2

Well said. I think MGS has always grounded itself as a light-hearted military series with comic book style storylines and villains. I'm not sure if it's a good analogy, but compared to the previous games, GZ feels a bit more like "The Punisher", since it's going for an ultra dark, ultra violent, and realistic take on the plot. Moreover, Chico's tapes were very disturbing, to say the least. That said, it would have been nice if we could at least have fun with the guards and do some goofy things in the games. Back in MGS 4, I loved using cardboard boxes to sneak up behind enemies and making them pee their pants with the corpse camo :lol. But, Ground Zeroes seems to be stripped of all comedic relief and figuratively speaking, it left a weird taste in my mouth.

I realize that I've argued that Kojima should tone it down with the strange Japanese humor from MGS 4 and PW. But, I really didn't want him to extremes like this. I really do hope that he back-peddles a bit and does things a little differently in TPP.

I have a feeling we’ll get the rest of this scene in TPP. It’s probably the reason the game didn’t end with Big Boss being resuscitated.

Yup, another thing, when Big Boss is in the car crashing, Ishmael is with him, next scene is Big Boss crawling out the car with Mantis looking at him, After that, Big Boss meets with Ocelot and they’re getting chased by the demon Volgin, Ishmael is no where to be found.

I've been thinking about that too, there are a few things in the middle that we haven't seen

I am surprised that so many people wanted to play that. It was obvious that the mission was over imho, and the cinemetic style is part of metal gear so I expected that to be a custscene and nothing more.

We'll get bigger and much better action scenes in TPP

I was really expecting Big Boss to step out of the chopper on Mother Base, and I'd regain control to send those XOF guys to hell. It was such a shame that it wasn't playable scene.

I believe that this game relied too heavily on pre-mission tapes to fill in the gaps between the events of PW and Ground Zeroes. Those would have made for some great cutscenes.

Such missed opportunities.

Same, MGS4 had a ton of cutscenes I wish I could have played.

The way I see it, GZ is just a training ground for players to get used to the new mechanics, nothing more really, I hope some of the fun features come back in TPP, I like the new dark tone, but sometimes comedy&dark tones mix very well if done correctly, like Kick-Azz, they go into really dark places in the comics, yet they also manage to sneak comedy in between, I think that mix could work with MGS, in fact it would make it better for me.

I really don't mind that at all, the cutscenes feed you the only important information in GZ, if you want to know more, and us fans do, we go to the tapes, I listened to all of the tapes while playing and it was fantastic.

After all, if those tapes were cutscenes, they would consist in Big Boss and Kaz just talking, just like in MGS4, which caused many complaints at the time.

He used camp and tragedy at the same time, he did things that others though can't me done just because no one tried (losers..) so I think this will work out just fine

Supposedly TPP is going to have so many missions we might not finish it :lol

I’m sure some missions will bring in some light hearted strange Kojima humor, look at the Deja Vu mission or the rescue Kojima mission. Kojima also said that there will be more humor in TPP than there was in GZ.
