Although I'm a fan of how the diecast was implemented with War Machine MK II (seemed to allow for better articulation), I also wonder why people find the 'heft factor' so important. To me, it's main value is as a gimmick that allows HT to shamelessly remake existing Marks (in addition to this Mark III, I'd likely pick-up a War Machine Mark I), so I don't have to buy them for secondary prices on the aftermarket. :lol It is nice to hold these heavier versions in hand, but otherwise, it does nothing for me and you cannot tell visually that there's any there, at all. There are even people now wanting Igor or Hulkbuster to be diecast, just seems ludicrous. Surely in those cases, 5 or 6 pounds of plastic should provide enough heft? Somehow it being 10+ lbs is even better?

A diecast Hulkbuster? Like a plastic one wouldn't be expensive enough, huh? :lol

A Hulkbuster with 20 percent diecast parts = a thou.

Yeah I don't know if I could justify a diecat Iron Monger, Hulk Buster, etc.

Look at most of them now- $300 give or take. Iron Whiplash is no where near Monger, Buster, etc and is $400.

I don't understand the desire for "heft" with these either. They sit on the shelf, appreciated with the eyes... not to be handled. Mine are at least. A die-cast Hulkbuster would be $700 and probably 25 pounds or more.

In all honesty, having already owned two of the diecast figures, I don't really see the point of it either. I guess I just got that initial curiosity and awe out of my system.:lol I was all on board when they announced the diecast line, but now, if I had the option, I would have this mk III in plastic.

Weight = Quality has been discussed over and over again in various collectible forums. I don't quite get it either. I've seen people on our local group telling new collectors to get WM2 instead of WM1 because "it's heavy" and "you can feel the real metal!". I said I just display my figures and from my shelf you can't tell which one is DC and which one is plastic -- but maybe if you're into playing with your toys while making "pewpew" sounds then diecast might indeed FEEL better.

When I got my Iron Patriot I was most impressed by the added articulation on the elbows and the crotch. But I thought I would have still bought it if it were plastic. HT should have just thought of fixing the pink undies syndrome. Diecast is just a novelty, really.I don't hate it, but I find it not necessary.

My sentiments exactly when the first Hulkbuster discussion came out on OSR Facebook.

It would be like THE BAT again. People are demanding that it be done in 1/6, as if they would all buy it @ $2000 plus may $300 shipping.

I've heard that the other die-casts have weak joints, I hope this doesn't. They should use ratcheted joints like the Hulk to compensate for any extra weight.

I'm not buying this simply because it lacks ab articulation. Had there been an ab crunch, instant buy. I'll just hope Mark IV DC will have the same articulation as the 42

I myself don't really care about articulation on this. I go for museum poses anyway and the most posing this is gonna get will be the pose with his hand outstretched.

I'm not much of an IM fan but the prototype shots do look pretty nice. The main reason I'm getting him is to complete my Avengers line up.

I wonder why HT didn't add ab articulation. I thought the point of going die cast was to make improvements that they didn't or couldn't do with their plastic counterparts. Just seems like HT is cutting corners to save money. All die cast going forward should be flexible like the 42.

I don't want anymore DC iron mans like 42, that ****er was designed bad :lecture

I have a feeling HT did this to "protect" the earlier releases. HT has done this before with re-releases, giving us something new while taking away something old. It doesn't render the older figure completely obsolete.
