Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

is it just me or is the shape of the head all messed up. It looks uneven on top

On that particular one, yes, I'd actually have returned that figure for exchange if I was that owner. These Batman's do run that risk. My Begins suit figure shipped with one of the ear lopsided, at first I didn't notice it much, then I couldn't help seeing it, but I didn't want to return it at risk of not getting better, and I found a deal for a new head on eBay I could see and know it was right, so I fixed it. With this DX though, if that happens again I'll just return it this time, for the price, I'm not paying for an extra head in a figure that shouldn't ship with such a horrible production flaw.

In the plus column, I wonder if the grapple gun holster can attach to the belt on the Begins costume figure, would be cool for some photos to have him look like the opening of TDK.

This shows the figure exactly how I figured and expected it would be improved over the v1 in proportions, much more "average" build overall, no big, body builder sized upper body, much closer to Bale's body type, really looking forward to this thing.

I know I said I would not come back to this thread until I got the figure but this gauntlet issue has bugged me.

Why on almost every picture is the elbow pad not covering the elbow joint?
Do you recon they cant be moved to make it look more accurate?

That would be excellent. Love that scene specially when he stands up after fallinf off the van and you see his gun attached to his belt. He looks huge in that scene

That's the moment I was thinking of, it's a real nice shot.

If DX Joker never came to be, or wasn't done as well as it was, I MIGHT find myself content enough with the v1, but having a Joker as nice looking as I have now, almost demands the Batman that goes with him be equally impressive and the v1 will not do, DX or bust.

fo sho, it's seriously as if both dx's compliment each other. You can't have one without the other.

again, what is up with the neck, damn almost a giraffe :(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Neck might be a hair too tall, but it really comes down to head position too, I think it looks fine here.

The cape also makes a difference. Unfortunately, some figures are made to look good with layers of clothes or with a cape or something, and when you take those bits away, it doesn't look so good, like HT's Marcus Wright looks great with his coats on but off, he's like ET neck, same with this Batman, I think HT designed him to look solid with the cape on, and when you use a thinner cape or no cape, i won't look as good.

The why is because the HT gauntlets have the elbow guard molded to them, but it's not glued to the arm. I'm sure it's just that for Bale in costume, it was more than flexible enough you could have the arm mesh and his gauntlets connected like that, but for the figure, you'd limit poses, with loose gauntlets you can shift them around to get the arms in different poses.

The v1 elbow guard is pretty rigid, I can't imagine being able to flex the arm if you adhered it to the mesh part, so, I'd say the why is pretty simple, and correcting it is probably not that possible.

I think everyone on the HK forums either don't care or don't know any better. OMG has it right in his photos:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Yeah, i have noticed that a lot of early photos have had the blades almost sticking out sideways from his arms, but that's not correct, and you have to readjust the gauntlets sometimes when you move the arms around to have them in the proper place. It's no big deal, but if you care enough to have it really look right in your photos, you have to stop to think about fixing them.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Nitpicky guys, just do us all a favor and don't buy the damn thing. Just go for the medicom version or whatever. Or just stick with V1 if you have it already. Leave the buying to us who have the money at our disposal. That way, you didn't waste your hard-earned money on something you don't like and have a lot of complains at and we get what we think is the best batman figure to date. See, it's a win-win. Everybody happy.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Can anyone tell me how the backpack attaches?

I would guess possibly magnets in the shoulder pads, or it hooks into his shoulder armor and locks around his shoulder pads. OMG should be able to let us know.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Visually it has to do that, even if it doesn't hold the pack on, because the film idea is that's the cape so part of it should run to where the cape comes from. I'm still not a fan of that idea though, rigid enough to be like batwings I can buy, but able to be a transformer and have the ability to become a backpack like that and batwings out of the same structure just seems to push things too far. It's a cool looking pack, just would buy it better if the cape were supposedly inside and it broke apart to expose it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Yeah we were mentioning the incorrect positioned arm gauntlets a day or so ago, just a little thing people can do, twist them into the right place, but don't take the time to do, and it throws the whole look off.

But it would be way more cooler and "practical" if by a push of a button he can recall the memory setting of the cape to be the backpack (which should be possible based on the same theory of it being able to form any other shape) when he is done gliding and flying and being all mystical but just needs it out of the way to e.g. avoid being e.g. sucked into a jet engine like Syndrome :D oh and all the other capewearing superheroes :)
