The memory fabric cape is easily the best tech-aspect of Batman that the Nolan Batman has added. I too don't see how the backpack cape is any more unbelievable than the glider shape. Makes perfect sense.

Within the realm of the film, the only thing I find unbelievable is when Fox first tells Wayne about the Fabric he says "Shape" not "Shapes" i.e. you can structure the fabric to any rigid shape and with an electrical charge from the included suit gloves you can transform the fabric from rigid to soft and vice-versa. So flowing cape to rigid hang-glider back to flowing cape etc. Every scene in BB shows either the fabric limp and flowing, or it turning rigid and retaining a single shape after the glove hits it with an electrical charge.

So how exactly can the fabric suddenly cycle through two different rigid shapes!? Because it starts off as the back pack, then it turns into the hang-glider, then it goes to the normal cape. And that never really made any sense.

Again, this is all within the context and realm of the movie.

Anyone care to explain?

Simple... it can be programmed to take on more than one shape. Doesn't seem so outlandish given what's already established.

You guys remember 'BBQ' from Toy World and Toys Daily? He was one of the first to mod the HT TDK new suit figure. He has the DX Batman now, and he started a thread about it with photos and text I can't read. I think he has modifications in mind and he may have already done stuff to the cape.

Edit: turns out he replaced some of the dx parts with Medicom parts.

In some of the photos in the thread, the neck on Batman looks a bit long, but it looks good in the photos below. Don't know if he did something to the neck or if it's just the angle. A translation would be nice.

Actually it does (and again this whole convo is within the realm of Nolan's Batman Universe). How exactly would you go about "programming" a piece of fabric to cycle through various shapes!? I can understand the fabric being able to switch from a single rigid shape to a soft shape with an electrical charge. But "programming" that piece of fabric to cycle through various shapes is BS. Sorry.

I don't think it has to be programed to go neutral, its just deactivated. So only remembered 2 shapes. Maybe its posible the fabric reacts differently depending on the amount voltage going through it.

When you think about it, it was completely unnecessary to have the backpack. I imagin he was wearing the suit under his clothes when he enter the building and he wanted it tucked away. But the truth is, it was made for the motorcycle and Nolan just HAD to get it on screen cause it looked so damn cool. LOL I can picture Nolan at a table going "Okay people talk to me, how can we fit this backpack into movie? " " Well we're kinda behind schedule " "Shut up , we're gonna make this happen. No ones leaving this room till we figure this out !"

Well since we are imagining a tech I could imagine that the techfabric could be preprogramed with states triggered
by different voltages or through different trigger points like an actual circuit? I think as imagination goes it seems a bit harsch to rule out other ideas as BS. Of cause explaining either outside the real of imagination might be top secretly available.
Not sure if there is some kind of trashing residue here and some statements may seem harsher than others but in the end I still think it be real cool if this could be done.

it hooks into his shoulder armor and locks around his shoulder pads. OMG should be able to let us know.

You are right. Total 4 hooks on the back pack, 2 on shoulder 2 on the bottom of the back pack.

H-K Apestore - reccomended to me by Minimodel. For some reason I had a pre-ordered DX Joker with Sunny but after saying he would send it by Nov, he kept delaying and eventually refunded me the money.. which I thought was strange. Anyway, worked out for me because I used some of the refund to pick up Lforigno's customized clown suit DX Joker (didn't need a 2nd cop) and the rest along with some top up cash to get the DX in stock, alls well that ends well! Hopefully my Bats will be with me before Christmas!!
