Hot damn I didn't see those. This sucks. I wonder if this has a lot to do with having the cut out for the removable faceplates. Not enough support or something. It's definitely not just the funny angles and lighting.

edit: What's also weird is that it seems to be the same side in every pic. The right seems to be flattened while the left bubbles out.

That does it! First the peeling and now the badly asymmetrical cowl. I'll call my dealer first thing tomorrow and see if I could cancel my preorder and transfer my 10% down payment for another item, either a HT King Leonidas or a Sideshow Lando Calrissian.

The flaws of the DX Bats are just too unforgivable. I'll just be content with my Medicom TDK.

The asymmetrical cowl is evident in most (if not all) of the pics. And it's not simple warping caused by bad packaging, I could tell it's a mold/casting problem. Either their molds are defective or they prematurely pulled the casted parts from the molds before it had time to thoroughly cure.

I checked their old prototype pics and the cowl looks symmetrical there. That's reassuring. They keep putting the words "product shown is not final" on all the photos. I didn't know HT meant that in a bad way...

By the way, do both heads have the warping?

Solidsnake picked one up and has not complained yet. Maybe he can confirm with some more pictures but his sonar head seems fine? If his heads are in good shape then it's not a mold but procedural/QC issue

Update on Hot Toys MMS DX Batman Figure



Hello,

We had a large order in with a distributor to coincide with the Hong Kong release. We have learned that this distributor has gone bankrupt and is no longer fulfilling orders. We will not be receiving this Batman figure before it’s US release (now expected in May). We want you to know that you will for sure receive a Batman figure, but it will be on our regular release. We will refund any extra money paid for these early buy orders and you are welcome to cancel the order if you do not wish to wait.

While the deformity is unacceptable, I'm not sure it's so bad as to mass panic, my OC Batman had issues and I saw many people with better heads, I even snagged myself one off eBay. Given that the head is likely a softer rubber/PVC like the v1, hollow and all for the PERS and mouth swap, I'm sure it'll be prone to warping on occassion and I think a simple contact to HT for replacement will resolve the problem.

Yeah, uhh. Two peoples' pictures != issues with an entire batch. The ears/symmetry are fine on mine, despite what people who don't have the figure sitting in front of them want to assume. However, if you're happy panicking based on .00001% of the production run, be my guest.

I hate to say it I have always thought that the original costume batman was the best made of the series, but this looks like it will beat it out. This figure looks incredible and with the issues popping up you just have to order from someone that will take care of you like toys2

I really wish DCD had distro'd the second Begins suit. Really nice figure. Seems like if HT has two stabs at something the second attempt will be damn near perfect.

I can tell you all that the pill off problem is not only one or 2 case, in the past few days, lots of Hong Kong DX batman owner went to hottoys to get a replacement. I am afraid to touch mine now hope it will last longer but whats the point on buying a figure that you cant play it. A replacement wont solve the problem unless HT reissue a new rubber suit.

Well, maybe HT will hault the rest of the production runs and deal with it like John Connor. It seems when the HK folks complain enough they go back. Not really looking forward to a delay in getting him, but if it means a better product I'll deal, but tougher when the in hand pics start and you expect getting yours isn't far away.

Oh ????, that doesnt sound too good.

I got the 1st batch one as well. I hope mine wont have that issue though, since it's a hassle to send them to HK for a replacement.

No wonder HT is not responding their FB complain

Hopefully, HT are keeping eyes on this! I wonder which issue is more widespread, the misshapen cowl or the paint peeling (assuming either is widespread at all).

I would imagine the peeling would be more widespread, if the material won't let paint adhere or the paint's not mixed right, it's going to happen for every figure it's used on, the head is probably more based on handling and probably not as widespread.

hmm getting a bit worried now... really hope my piece doesn't suffer from any warped heads / paint peeling... really frustrated at how long its taking for it to get to me though, tracking has been showing it at Heathrow airport for the past week!! Probably damn customs
