Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Reading the last two pages it's like Salvation/ Damnation has been targetted by separate factions of a 1/6 scale Collecting Cult!

I like to play with my Hot Toys figures in the bath.

To each his own I guess - for me, the point of buying these high end figures and making high end customs is so that I can have them on display in movie-accurate poses / situations and preferably with small dios in the background to add to that realism, and then so I can enjoy looking at them multiple times a day

Amen to that, you truly don't know what your missing if you haven't played with a Hot Toys figure in the bath. It's amazingly liberating. :banana

...does any of this even matter? It's his money, let him do what he chooses with what he spends it on. If it affects your life enough to go crazy about it, get off the computer and go outside for a few minutes.

Indeed, if someone mentions a unique collecting habbit and you choose to inquire the full details because it makes you curious, that's one thing, but grilling people about how they collect is pointless, we all collect differently and I'm sure to others it can seem rediculous. I'm sure some people look at me and think, you spend hours and hours taking photos of little toys. As long as you get the pieces you want and get to enjoy them in your way, that's all that matters.

Just an FIY though, some vinyls and rubbers can react badly to being in a sealed container with limited airflow for extended periods of time.

No, it doesn't and I didn't mean any disrespect to the people who keep their stuff in the boxes :peace. Just thought it would be funny to post P!tu's video to show the other end of the spectrum :lol

You mean perspex/glass cubes? the boxes they are stored in are far from sealed.

That's a great point - worst example is the Kenner Star Wars figures from the mid 80's that started deteriorating badly when kept MOC. Another is the Doctor Who figures that acquired a white mould only recently. Simply keeping something perfectly packaged is no guarantee that it won't react against the packaging. Each to their own, but for me my preference is to buy less and display more, because if the figures are going to self-destruct at some point then I'll have got more enjoyment out of having them out then keeping them boxed.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I keep silica packets in the boxes to preserve the freshness, that does preserve the figure longer does it?

No it's more a matter of close proximity to other materials such as the low quality plastics they're often packaged in. Different materials can react badly. Not a packaging issue but I had a head start to melt that was sitting on a piece of wood finished with polyurethane.

I'm pretty sure vinyl in particular is at risk in packaging and I would think rubber might have similar issues.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I used to be always scared of my figures rotting and still try to avoid anything that looks like it will fall apart but after being in this hobby for years now I just don't think about it. It ruins the hobby for me always worrying and not being able to look at them without thinking they might be falling apart.
I get a figure , put it in my detolf and dust it now and then , the same with statues. If something does happen to go a little funny or " rot away " then thats that !.

You can't control everything , its just best to look after them and if you display them keep a good eye on them.

Yeah. Like the other day I used my 1:1 Endo Skull when we played full contact football. Who cares anymore.
