Well, I've decided I'm keeping my DX Bats despite the problems with the oil. The varnish I've applied has all but stopped the leaking, and I've only had to clean it off once since the initial application. I can live with it. If it gets worse, I'll just deal with it until the DCD shipment hits and I'll just buy another one. I can't bring myself to destroy it.

I wouldn't be put off. HT customer service is great especially overseas. I'm sure you could have a new body within the next fortnight under a month if you email them now. As long as they have the parts to ship out.

Why should you have to pay for their incompetence? Destroy the darn thing and get your replacement. I wouldn't have waited this long just to see if it stops. It should not have happened in the first place.

1.) I've pretty much fixed my problem, and I'm happy with the results. If I'm happy with it, I'm not destroying it. I've put a lot of work and effort into fixing it and I'm pretty attached to it by now.
2.) I intend on buying another anyway, mainly because despite the fact that it looks decent, I really don't want to keep my V1 on display with the sonar head and gear on it. I just don't like how it looks compared to the DX version. I figure I'll buy another DX, use it as my main display piece, and use the one I have now as my sonar gear display.
Yes, I realize that I could just destroy this one and get a new, (possibly) defect-free one, but quite honestly I just don't want to destroy it. I also don't want to wait another month to get one and have a giant hole in my display that will drive me nuts because I destroyed it over something I fixed and was happy with again. It may not make sense to anyone else, but I simply don't want to destroy it.

I liked the idea of destroying it strategically to create the scene with Lucias Fox, but if you have the money to buy a second one I like the idea of being able to display it with both heads.
I totally get the idea of feeling more attached to a figure after moding or fixing it. Kind of makes it feel like one of your children.
So yeah, keep it if you can afford another one!!!

We're still a ways off from the DCD release, so there's no issue with saving up for another one. I've just really never been able to destroy or get rid of anything I'm attached to in terms of my collectibles. Especially after spending almost $300 for the first release of this guy, if I'm happy with my fixes, there's no way I'm taking some scissors to it. That would be more painful than wiping off a bit of oil here and there.

But the OC doesn't leak oil, have any warped parts and has no peeling paint.
