Update:
Just checked my Batboy and the residue is clearly there coming from the rubber suit side and not the belt side. I had the belt on the tightest notch . So I guess this experiment should invalidate a chemical reaction and the reidue coming from the belt. I can't say if it is a lot more than in prior days or less as am not sure how the oils would spread with the same amount but it is quite a more than my previous 3 observations. Also this should overcome the potential that the residue is simply left over. I will now set it up in looser setting and hope that will do better.
BTW the loaded belt looks exactly like the V1 vs the plain one is a completely new mold with only one set of locking holes and it is a looser fit. So if you just got your new batboy better to use the plain belt

Great pic but it absolutely highlights my #1 gripe with the DX Bats - the ears are completely off and are far far too thin. The height is actually accurate (did some analysis on that), but it appears too long as they are too thin - Medicom got this detail spot on

I just compared the DX to the picture and if I were to perfectly copy the pose the ears will actually look a lot more alike. It's purely an angle issue at least for this picture

Yes, you are entirely right. But the ears on the DX Bats are close ENOUGH. No one is gonna take a look at the figure and go "wow, they really messed up the ears didn't they?

The key is getting the figure to look as close as possible to the real thing, but unless they have access to the original suit and make a mold out of it and then downsize it to 1/6th, there will never be a perfect likeness. Besides, sometimes the figures look even better than their originals, as is the case with SS Darth Vader. THAT is how he should've looked in the movies.

You have to be open to the fact that just because you completely and utterly love the DX Batman, doesn't mean everyone else will.

For some people, the look of the ears is a problem, and considering that the ears on the v1 head look a bit more correct in shape and size, it's not crazy for those people to wish the DX had turned out like that.

Sometimes, yes, people want certain things with figures that is damn near impossible and no proof at all that it could even be achieved, but sometimes it's just something is different then they'd like and they wish to share that thought.

You feel the Sideshow figure is what Darth Vader should have looked in the movie, many would say the figure should look like how he looked in the movie. Everyone wants different things out of their collectibles and you need to be open and respectful to that.

I'm not in love with the figure at all. I can see the flaws just fine. In fact I told him he was E-N-T-I-R-E-L-Y right. I'm just making a logical point and if you're seeing disrespect in that, then tough. I'm open to a lot of stuff, but one thing I am NOT open to is when people start getting their panties in a bunch because someone they have never met and never will meet in their lives makes a simple observation or comment about something as trivial as freakin' 12-inch figure dolls. But hey don't worry about it because my panties are fine.

Besides, sometimes the figures look even better than their originals, as is the case with SS Darth Vader. THAT is how he should've looked in the movies.

Hehe thanks. You dunno how much control that takes here. But this forum is already pretty good. All I can say is the internet is an emotionless and faceless medium and a lot get lost in the translation. My approach is to try to be less sensitive and give the benefit of a doubt to others but be extra sensitive to what words I choose as I can't control how sensitive others are. Man in the mirror concept. Bless MJ. Many times I just delete some of my emotional posts before I submit it as the typing of it already did the job for me and I do not need to see actual responses from others. But we are all flawed but the effort must be there. There are the ones that are here to actually trigger emotional outbursts and that's when I simply ignore them and just wait for the MF hammer to drop

I tried the best I can but I can't get the lighting right and these are small in scale so minor movements the angles is off but this is the closest one I got

I agree Geil some of that pic was to do with angle, but having had the DX in hand for near a month now, the ears certainly could be improved, and comparing it in hand with the medi head, HT really did get the ear width wrong, and even if its a little wrong, the effect can be pretty stark at certain angles. Not to say i'm not happy with my DX - just saying attention to detail could have been better

I am looking at the pctures and just started to imagine if I were the sculpter that be pretty hard to get it right from a few angled shots unless I had references of the oringal cowl for all angels and even then it be pretty hard to translate into an actual perfect sculpt. They do need a 3D scan to get it perfect and then still the machine needed to translate that scan into a mold would have to be operating in very tight tolerances at least 6th of 1/4"=1/24". The V1 is certainly shorter. I had to hide my Medi so can't take it out until later to compare
update: oil still showed up on the rubber suit side so now switching over to plain belt

the ears are a bit too narrow, but it still looks great
