No one said it was the be-all-end-all figure of the 1/6 world. Yeah it has it's flaws like any other figure. All the flaws have been talked about already (check the last few pages) someone tried a neck mod because we all agree the neck is too long. The sticky bomb gun is flimsy to the point where some of us have broken it, and the head still tends to get warped, but that's expected with the ears. Unless you make it out of a hard plastic it'll always get warped. During shipping if its pushed up against the foam it will bend a little. What it is is it's the best out of all the Dark Knight figures. It's more proportionate than the Hot Toys V1 Dark Knight. The second best one is the Medicom Dark knight, but it still has the big chest. The wire cape is annoying, but I think the verdict is split in half with that one. What it all boils down to this: If you're going to go out and spend money on a Dark Knight figure then go with this one.

I agree. It's still a fantastic figure, and I'm glad I got it.

Bought a bunch of stuff from my guy and this was the first one I opened. I'm still fascinated with it that i haven't bothered opening the other ones.

Somehow, I just wish they sorted out the neck issue at least before releasing it. Seems like a simple problem to fix.

How did you get the Medi Bruce to fit on the HT V1 neck?? Really nice. I was thinking about doing that to my V1. Either that or to my DX Batman. But I think yours looks nice. May try it with the V1. I have an extra Medi Bruce head anyway.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

MaulFan do you use a light box (I think that's what they call it) to take your pictures? I am amazed by the kinds of pictures you're coming out with. I just went through your photo album and holy cow are they good. Did you ever take classes in photography? Hopefully when I'm settled in I can get a decent camera and make a light box.

No light box, my photos are either natural light just coming in my windows, my computer monitor as a light source, room lighting, lamps, LED flashlights or a shoe mount flash for my camera. I've never taken any classes, just bought some books and do a lot of studying.

i cut out the bottom part of bruce's head so the hole would be big enough to fit the neck. now here's the catch:

the V1 neck is still too long. so once again, i sanded down the bottom part and got rid of the ball joint...however, i think i went too far. the top part of the neck had a lot of work done to it too...

i'll take pics to show you what i did...but not now, it's late (in china atm) and the cousin i borrow the camera from is sleeping. gonna have to show you later on.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Hi all, I am new to the forum. I have just set up my DX02 Batman and I think the cape is too big. would I be better putting on the cape from the original HT DK Batman?

Wow so all this is pretty much self taught? Impressive. I'll have to research some different kinds of light and try to find some online readings for now. I have a normal digital camera. You know the one Anna Sharapova advertises on the camera. LOL. I think mines a Sony Cyber shot though. She did Canon. ANYWAY I'll have to either sell an OC Batman and a Tumbler or work the street corner so I can get a decent kind of camera so I can take up close pictures like you do. Mine right now, if I get too close, will get all blurry. Ugh. Anyway thanks for sharing.

Oh so the head and neck no longer have articulation in it? Hmm is there a way you can move the socket of the neck up after sanding? There has to be a way. Are you from Brooklyn? I'd love to see your collection. I'm from BK too.

nice! another brooklnite! i have some figs back in bklyn, and i'm starting my 1/6 army here in china. i'll show some pics tomm, along with the neck mod. then you can decide if you wanna do something as extreme as mine.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

You can good pics from even P&S but mostly well lit ones. Also most have macro modes maybe you forgot about it?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Oh so you're in China now? Too bad. I think I may be taking a trip to Hong Kong this summer. I haven't been there in over 10 years. Now that I'm in this hobby. HK will be a lot of fun.

Geil: what do you mean macro modes? I dont think my camera has that. I could, probably am, wrong.

Usually the mode is represented by a logo of a flower mode allowing you get real close and you can get a lot closer and still focus

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Oh I always wondered what that mode was. HAHAHAHA Ok I'll try that when I get home tonight. I don't have a DX Batman anymore :( I have to wait about a month for it to come home. I can't send it out till I get a response from them about whether or not to address is to Suki Au.

It's a combination of things with my shots. For one, I do have a long zoom lens which helps for some shots, my camera's also a 10 mega pixel one, so I can crop in tighter on shots if I want and still have sharp quality.

To get a good DSLR, you're looking at around $500-$600 to get started, and then extra accessories and different lense will starting adding hundreds more.

Hey Geil. Check this out. I went back to look and see if my camera had the "flower" mode and it did. Look at the incredible close up I took. Normally this would be real fuzzy.

I call this RIP Batman. Sent him off to HK for a while. Hopefully he comes back a changed man.:hi5:

no offense, but if that's a macro shot, then it's pretty damn fuzzy. macro "flower mode" shots are supposed to be really sharp. try not to zoom in (if you are) while in macro, just put the camera up close. also, try using better lighting/background.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Yes, Marco mode is really geared more towards capturing small things up close with the same level of detail as larger objects zoomed out, like getting detail out of a 1/6 sculpt that a normal lense mode gets out of a life size person's portrait.

Here's an example. This is a cropping of a closeup shot of DX Joker using a standard lens.

JOKERMACRO2.jpg

And here's similar using a Macro mode, notice how crisp the details are at so closeup.

Well I can't really get any better lighting. I only have one lamp in the dorm room and it's dark out. So that's the best I can do. as for zooming I didn't zoom at al. Like I said my Sony Cyber Shot isn't that great for things like this. Sucks. REAL bad.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Yeah daylight will make a huge difference as the camera doesn't need to compensate for the lack of it :) I almost want to go out and buy my old P&S that had this crazy macro mode. Seperate macro lens is going to cost even more :p If you are looking at a good P&S I would recommend the Panasonic DMC-LX3

Haha I also have a "rest in peace" batman however it more like rest in pieces ahah. I just recieved an email from HT telling me they have shipped me a new body

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

So, does this mean the upcomming DC Direct batch will have the hard plastic belly?

The loss of articulation doesn't really bother me. Anything over the oily mess that came before.
