Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Well, good luck. None of my figures are perfect, in fact, none of the things I own are perfect. Be it a small minor nitpick or a huge noticeable flaw.

They're slightly off but there's really nothing you can do. I noticed as I was messing around with it that there's a clear plastic sheet in between the plastic ab/torso plate and rubber pants body. Is everyone elses like this?

I feel bad for you. You are even more OCD than me. :cuckoo:

And that's saying something. :lol

Why? If I was that bad wouldn't I be bugging out that my torso was slightly to the side, not telling another collector that it was fine and there's nothing you can do about it?

No no, don't take it like that! I am totally OCD too. Right now i am desperately trying to come to terms with my PERS being cross-eyed. :gah:

And now that you got me thinking about it, I realize that nine of my stuff is perfect either!

The ab thing would bug the heck out of me, but I think that is fixable. I would try to heat the torso up good using a hair dryer, and then flex it past center. If that didn't get it to the right place I would heat it up, flex it over, and then leave it in the freezer for 10 or so minutes.

I've straightened out quite a few figures that way.

Yes, don't take it out. Thats in there to stop this from happening.

Hmm, is there a photo of these slightly off abs?

here's mine. Mine was off a touch too so I pulled the glue off the back and re glued them. This is before the adjustment. Its hard to tell, but they were off some.

There never has been a 2nd DCD batch. DCD batch is the 3rd and only final run which is the only run that has plastic abdominal plates.

I was part of the 2nd batch smaller international release that had the rubber abs with no clear plastic sheet below.

Wow, robbiethepainter, good eyes. I wouldn't have caught that! How does it look re-glued?

Damn, sorry Vodoun.

Yeah I know. I meant the "second" figure (even though there are three versions. The current one, the figure/replacement that still had leaky abs and the first version that had all the problems). Since the first two were similar I called the DCD one the "second" figure. I realize that there aren't two DCD batches. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Both DCD figures that I own have the plastic sheet.

I was just curious why it would need it if it has the improved plastic abdominal plates and not the rubber one. I thought the sheet was a quick fix attempt to control the leaking on the first version. Since the plastic abs don't have that problem why include the plastic sheet? Should I pull it out?

The clear plastic sheet is only half the cure. It's in there to stop the chemical reaction between the two rubbers in tight contact. If you take it out it'll take a good month or so to go the same way Thrustmasters and most of everyone else's and no doubt only get worse from there on in. The plastic abs is still sitting glued on top of the rubber shirt. So if you took it out you would see traces of oil again, only then coming down the pants from the two rubbers melting into each other because the divider isn't protecting it. In the long run you'd probably have a badly damaged top with whatever new side effects long term.

The other replacements were workarounds trying to find out and fix the batch 2 figures that never worked with this divider. There was so many layers of rubbers that may have never cured properly with this thermoplastic rubber. Thats where the plastic abdominal plates came in for the DCD launch right on the last few days of April (that a number of new replacement bodies reported that started showing up on the board) as well as the clear divider still in place.

MAN VODOUN I KNOW! :lol

But WHY add the clear sheet to the rubberless piece? That's all I'm asking. I know about the past history with this figure when it was known as the first shipment.

The torso is a different material now, hard plastic. Why keep the sheet in there if it isn't rubber any more? It can't react or can it? Were they just like "____ it, lets keep it in" or is there even a reason? I just noticed that both of my figures had it and was curious because the problematic figures from a few months ago HAD IT. This DCD one DOESN'T have a rubber torso/ab plates and isn't leaking, why keep that sheet wedged up in there?

If you knew why are you asking me. I told you. Plastic abs are sitting on top of a layer of rubber. The shirt. Even if you gutted the plastic abs, took the plastic divider out. Look at that photo. That divider separates the two rubber under layers. It's still plastic abs sitting on top of the outside rubber.

You ask why? it's there to stop chemical reaction between the two rubbers in contact with each other. I thought that was pretty clear on my last post and the photo. Only the 4 abdominal plates are plastic. Thats all. Not the full length of the shirt.
