It's cool that we the consumer keep pushing for more and more realism and accuracy and that companies like HT continue to push back with increasing realism and quality... but at a certain point something that's 12" can't be any closer to a 72" person.
One thing I will say in critisism of Hot Toys, is that while the realism (looking like real skin, etc) of their head sculpts is pretty damn amazing thier likenesses tend to always veer a little off target into more generic features lacking the subtle flaws that make whoever the actor is look like who they are.

There definitely are limits to how true 1/6 a figure can be. It seems like some collectors are getting to a point where something short of exact 1/6 replication of the full size is unacceptable, I feel bad for them because they're after something that's impossible. There's nothing wrong with wanting pieces to reach the maximum they can be, just have to understand there is a ceiling that either because of the use of generic bodies or whatever, things can't be true 1/6.
I have faith this DX Batman will be the best HT can do.

Someone a few pages back said something along the lines of "when you have it in hand you'll be really impressed". I think part of the problem in this particular case is that we're seeing large close up photos of it and examining it like it's six foot tall. A lot of the quibbles some might have cease to be relevant when you're looking at it in person and it's only 12" tall.

Well, in hand does change things, but not always for the best. Photos of v1 looked good, it wasn't really until I got it in hand that I noticed the excessively protruding chest and some of the things wrong with it, the photography of it release prior to shipping was all very flattering, and the right photos can make it look better or worse.
It is true though, even with this DX, could be better in hand, could be worse, something about this suit and these figures seems hard to get photographs to be truly representative of the look, it seems like shots either go overly flattering or overly unflattering, rarely fair and true. If he looks like this, I'll be happy.

The abs are all wrong. They need to amend them. It's because of that everything looks chunky. Their abs are way to thin, look at all the gaps. They need to be thicker, less gaps on the mesh. Medicom captured that part so well.

Well, then someone send HT the comparison shots between their TDK Bat and their rival Medicom's TDK Bat to get them going. The DX Bat is not gonna be released til spring anyway, plenty of time to improve

I'm sure Hot Toys has a Medicom Batman in their shop as a reference point, I'm sure people comparing and favoring Medicom over their first effort was one of the prompts to do this one.

I really don't know what to say about that. The promotional pics, clearly are a different body, but looking at that and pics of the original one they do look like the same exact body.
Is that a fairly old pic? Maybe they had a mock up of it with the old body and the new head and accessories.

I have a feeling Hot Toys capes will always be atrocious. I keep thinking there's a black towel on his shoulders rather than a light garment like lforigno's capes.

yeah the sculpts on the faces are not impressing me. To be honest the only one I like is the natural expression.
