And even this is still not exact, partly due to the pose of the figure not being exactly the same. sorry for the color mix up, but regardless the neck is still longer then it should be.

Also I'm ******** for not thinking of this sooner, but that's not my figure and I'm not sure if they had done the neck mod already or not. It was just the first picture I came across that was in a similar pose. So it may have been modded already. If so, my bad, but the neck is to long. :D

This is the closest it will get, and as you can see the chin does need to come down a little.

I have a question regarding this same piece. Anyone know what type of a glue I can use to glue mine back? The corner glue came off so that piece of rubber is pretty much flapping. Helps!

Hey Maglor, is the neck mod done on the neck for the light up sonar head?

Commtech modded my PERS neck. The mod he did is not possible with the sonar neck.

I used the sonar neck for my mod, but I can't speak for everyone.

The pics you have been posting with the modded neck are all PERS heads. How is that the sonar head? And how in the world did you do it?

I did read what you said and quoted the altered version in my post, to illustrate my point and acknowledge your correction. Sorry I called it green - the image was so dark, I assumed the correction was also green (not blue).

It's fine for you to believe or not believe the neck being too long.

But you presented pictorial evidence that you claimed was supporting your belief that it's too long - but looking at the very same picture you provided, it seems to me that those pictures actually argue that the figure's neck is NOT too long.

I'm just using the pictures you provided...

Are we really debating whether the necks are to long?

There are countless pictures that show it. The worst ones are the ones that have him looking straight forward. As Remy said, you can hide it if you bow his head, but even then you can see it from behind:

I literally never took a single picture of mine with the unmoded neck looking up because I thought it looked so atrocious that way.

But here are a couple pics of the bowed head on the unmodded neck verses the modded neck:

Unmodded neck and the stiff Hot Toys cape:

Modded neck and lforigno's cape:

As you can see I no longer have to bow the head so extremely low.

It should be noted that the neck mod becomes more important when you are using the custom cape. The Hot Toys cape is so bulky that it artificially inflates the hight of the shoulders. It's my theory that that is why HT made the neck so long: to disguise how crappy the cape is. :D

But the Commtech neck mod together with the lforigno cape just goes so far in improving the look of this figure.

And the mokneyrobotmaster biceps will make the circle complete! :rock

Why did you do it that way?

Now you cant use the sonar head.

I didn't care about the sonar head, in fact I gutted the sonar head and that's the cowl my other batman is holding. I used the sonar neck because it's not as narrow at the top and just looks better to me.

Are we really debating whether the necks are to long?

There are countless pictures that show it. The worst ones are the ones that have him looking straight forward.

Well, all I'm saying is that, while lots of other people are claiming it's atrocious and obvious the neck is too long, I certainly don't think it's obvious or ugly looking. I've got this guy on my shelf and I'm looking at him - his neck, head, and body all look fine to me. I don't need pics to see my own figure, and his head is upright. Looks fine to me straight out of the box.

Platty said he thought he was the only one who didn't see the need for mods and loved him right out of the box. I was just saying that he's not the only one, that some people feel the way he does as well.

As Remy said, you can hide it if you bow his head, but even then you can see it from behind:

P1070807.jpg

I mean, I can see how you might think the neck is too long in this picture, if you assume that the neck-piece is supposed to end at Bruce Wayne's neck and that his head is supposed to be entirely enclosed in the mask/cowl.

But if you look at this costume's cowl in profile, you see there's no way his head fits entirely in the cowl - the bottom/back of Wayne's head would be below the bottom/back lip of the cowl, the height of which is just below the height of the bottom of the cowl's nose.

The logical conclusion is that the bottom/back of Wayne's head is within the neck column - the armor of which also seems to serve as a bit of a neck brace (an idea also shown several times in the comics).

What I'm getting at is that the neck-piece of the action figure actually is conceptually supposed to include a portion of the head (if this were a real person). But if you assume the neck-piece is exclusive to the conceptual neck of the guy, then yes, it looks too long.

But here are a couple pics of the bowed head on the unmodded neck verses the modded neck:

As you can see I no longer have to bow the head so extremely low.

I mean, I can't see a difference as far as the length of the neck goes and how it affects the figure in these pics. It looks like the top pic might have a bit more of a bowed head - but then, that just means these two pics aren't really good for illustrating the point you're trying to make. (If you want to show that the neck is too long, you've got to show the figure with the head in the same position, before and after a neck mod).

It should be noted that the neck mod becomes more important when you are using the custom cape. The Hot Toys cape is so bulky that it artificially inflates the hight of the shoulders. It's my theory that that is why HT made the neck so long: to disguise how crappy the cape is. :D

This may be an important point - I don't have a custom cape, as I quite like the Hot Toys cape (like I said, seems pretty perfect out of the box to me). So maybe that's why I also don't think the neck looks too long on mine, even without mods.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Can anyone post a link to the neck mod tutorial? Trying to find it is killing me here!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Glad you like your figure haytil. :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

speaking of mods, anyone ever mod the DX's waist? that's been the main think holding me back is he looks to fat around the midsection. oh and i don't much like the idea of hard abs restricting waist/torso movement on a dynamic pose character like Bats

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Can some1 post some quick picks of the "bubbling" effect and the oil in general. I think I'm getting it on my right leg near the knee and upper thigh. Also what dO you recomend trying to wipe it with?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I thought I could go without a custom cape also... but after having a velvet one in-hand... I'll never go back.

And his waist looks fine and accurate to me... if it starts looks more thin/narrow it'd be inaccurate.
