hi, on mine they did so i made a stand for it to be in a flying pose which with it suported under the crutch meant no weight on the legs

So, if that piece cracked right through, would the legs basically not function anymore or is it more just aesthetically unpleasant? I'm considering getting one and just popping the leg off so I can reach that part and maybe glue it from the inside. However, I don't know what that piece really looks like so it's difficult to gauge the level of difficulty to repair it.

It only looks bad. Whatever the problem was, there were cracks, but there was no weight on the joint. And the joint still works fine. It's fairly heavy gauge plastic.
And i'm guessing the piece wasn't a great seller, or they might have repopped it at some point. But you never know what could happen in the future. Maybe for the 20th anniversary...

I recall reading somewhere that the crack didn’t affect the structural integrity of the joint, as counterintuitive as that sounds. It might even be in this thread. I’m not quite sure how that would work but I don’t repose mind often. No need to bait that bear. It’s still a cool piece. Although I’m in the diecast crowd, so if they redid it on a reinforced frame with diecast parts at a completely prohibitive price, I’d be Dow. For 2.0. I already have the 1/9 king arts and I love it.

I know everyone with the Hot Toys Iron Monger is aware that they all came with cracked hips. The general consensus is that it's no big deal. Well, I recently took my Iron Monger out of the box and the right leg stayed behind. The pegs attaching the leg to the hip had snapped. Bummer.

I couldn't find any replacements available so I designed my own. It's not an exact match, but it's awfully close. I asked several people to tell me which is the original and which is the new and nobody could tell the difference.

Hopefully this will help anybody else in the same situation.

Very cool fix. I sold my Iron Monger a few years ago, as I suspected the hip joint might eventually go completely.

Excellent work on this. This sort of thing would help a ton of Monger collectors. He's cheap on eBay because theres so many with this issue. Love the innovations you can still find on here

Sorry, friend, I'm already up to my eyeballs. Hopefully you won't have trouble finding someone else to help you out. I included my paint recipe on the Thingiverse listing so it should be very straightforward.

I'll note that Hot Toys glued the hip halves together, as well as the lower piston rods, so you'll need to use some acetone and patience to get them apart. I did not model the piston rods; you'll want to re-use the originals.

3D printing is the future of the hobby, it will make so many other things possible. Great to see such a useful replacement made available for free! Reminds me of the older days of the 1:6 hobby when folk freely shared 2D paper printable prop designs, schematics for homemade 1:6 vehicles etc. Proper sense of community it built
